Chapter 14 A Friend Slot for Two Hundred Thousand Dollars

Chapter 14 A Friend Slot for Two Hundred Thousand Dollars

In the afternoon, Celeste was kicked out by Amara.

Everyone knew about Henry's authority in Evergreen City, but Celeste was kicked out, which showed how angry Amara was.

Celeste felt wronged. She had clearly done her best, so why did Amara kick her out and ask for Grace instead?

"Mr. Montague, We might not be able to secure this project, otherwise, why wouldn't Mrs. Young even respect you?"

Henry looked up from his newspaper and glanced at her. "What did Mrs. Young say to you?"

Celeste hesitated and concealed some details, only mentioning that she could accompany Henry to the birthday banquet tomorrow, as it would make many people speculate about her relationship with Henry.

"Celeste, it seems you don't really want to stay at the Montague Group." Henry said indifferently.

Hearing this, Celeste quickly explained, "Mr. Montague, Mrs. Young insisted to invite Grace, otherwise, she wouldn't even send an invitation to the Montague Group."

After a moment of contemplation, Henry spoke, "I will go with Grace tomorrow. Inform her by phone."

Celeste hesitated, showing a reluctance towards Grace. "But Grace doesn't understand this project, and this is a business occasion."

Henry looked up, his eyes carrying a hint of danger. "Do you think I'm discussing this with you?"

His tone was calm as he looked at Celeste, leaning back in his chair. "Doing your job well. Don't get involved in other matters. This is the last warning."

If it weren't for Celeste's high work efficiency and dedication, he wouldn't tolerate someone who admired him staying by his side.

After Celeste left, Henry was about to call Grace but realized he didn't even have her number.

For the past three years, they had communicated through Celeste.

They had married three years, and there were countless intimate moments, yet they didn't even have each other's number.

He contacted Celeste to send Grace's contact information and Facebook.

Moments later, his request was rejected.

Henry sneered.

He sent another request, but this time the content was different. [$200,000 for a Facebook friend request, ok?]

He didn't believe that Grace, who needed money, would refuse.

She might only earn a few thousand dollars a day.

But half an hour later, he rubbed his temples and threw his phone on the table.

She rejected again.

She was indeed a bit disobedient.

He directly instructed Celeste to transfer $200,000 to Grace.

When Grace received the message, she had just finished a violin performance.

She first looked at her phone, the first message was from Juniper, saying she would return to Evergreen City tomorrow and asked her to prepare.

Grace couldn't help but smile, Juniper hadn't changed a bit, still so playful.

But when she saw the next message, looking at the $200,000 transfer, she fell into deep thought.

Recalling what Aurora told her yesterday, she realized Henry had a task.

Just a Facebook friend request was worth$200,000, which was enough to cover her father's medical expenses for many days. She wasn't a pretentious person, since Henry needed it, she was happy to oblige.

She accepted the $200,000 and agreed to Henry's Facebook friend request.

In the past three years, she had asked Henry for his contact information many times, but she didn't expect to get it now.

If it were the old Grace, she might have been overjoyed, but now she just saw it as a normal transaction.

As soon as Grace accepted the request, Henry sent a message: [Where are you? I need to talk to you.]

Knowing that he needed her help, Grace sent him the address.

Next, Gavin sent a message: [I will arrive in Evergreen City next Saturday, hope to see you.

Looking at the message from Gavin on her phone, Grace felt a warm current in her heart.

Gavin was one of the few people who truly cared for her, almost like a mentor.

Grace couldn't help but smile, her life was finally being normal.

At night, the chill of late autumn swept over her petite body.

She got up and went to the coffee shop across the street, finding a seat by the window.

Late at night, under the dim streetlights, a black Bentley stopped.

Through the car window, she saw Henry in a black classic suit, smoking a cigarette. As if sensing her gaze, he turned and met Grace's eyes.

They looked at each other like old friends reuniting after a long time, but neither spoke.

Henry, needing her help, stubbed out his cigarette, and entered the coffee shop. Seeing Grace looking at him, he walked over and sat across from her.

Noticing the empty table, he called over the server, "A black coffee, please."

"What will you have?" he looked up at Grace.

Grace shook her head, "No, thank you. I don't drink."

Henry didn't say anything, just waved his hand.

Today, Henry was very gentle.

But Grace naturally didn't think he had changed, it was just the attitude of someone who needed something.

A $20 billion project, she understood, Henry was a self-serving person, and everything he did today was for his own benefit.

Grace wanted to go home early, "What do you need? Just say it."

Henry leaned back in his chair, he was very relaxed, with a hint of indulgence in his eyes. "Mrs. Young's birthday banquet is tomorrow. She hopes you can go early to meet other wealthy ladies and make some of her favorite pastries."

Grace squinted her eyes slightly, "Mr. Montague, are you making a deal with me?"

Henry took a sip of the coffee handed to him by the server, "You can think of it that way."

Grace chuckled, "Then how much does Mr. Montague hope to trade for?"

Henry's eyes narrowed, a sharp look flashing in them. He didn't expect Grace would ask for money. "Didn't I transfer $200,000 to you?"

But Grace's tone was very calm, like a business elite, "The Horizon Innovations Group project is worth at least $20 billion. Mr. Montague's offer is too low."

Henry sneered, Grace had really changed, her aura had become sharper.

Was this her way of protecting herself?

"How much?" Henry asked. He didn't want to spend unnecessary money. He was a businessman, and no matter how Grace changed, he wouldn't make any concessions in a deal.

"$3 million!" Grace named.

"$3 million?" Henry was surprised, he didn't expect Grace was so ambitious.

"Grace, do you think you're worth $3 million?"

Grace was indifferent, "Then I can completely find someone from another group and give the project to them. I don't believe others would be stupid enough to pass up $20 billion."

Henry's eyes narrowed, "Are you so sure the project can be secured?"

Grace smiled, "If it can't be secured, that's not my problem."

For the first time, Henry found her somewhat interesting.

This was the first time Grace had challenged him, and it was in the business realm he was so familiar with.

He admitted, Grace had succeeded.

He leaned forward, his eyes narrowing, "It seems you have indeed become much shrewder recently, even looking out for your own profit."

As he spoke, he reached out to touch Grace's face.

Grace pulled back, watching him warily, "Henry, this is a coffee shop, and there are cameras everywhere. If you want to act indecently, I will sue you."

Henry found it amusing, "A remarried wife suing her husband for indecency, that would be quite a sensational news story."

Grace ignored him, "The three million dollars must be in my account tonight, or everything is off the table."

Facing an unfaithful husband, Grace had no feelings left. Three years had worn down her once hopeful heart.

Every time she thought of Henry making love to Elodie, she felt disgusted.

Henry looked at her, grabbing her slender wrist, "Mrs. Montague, do you think suing me will work?"

Grace tried to break free from his grip, "Don't act indecently!"

Henry looked at her, a teasing smile on his face, "I'll have Celeste transfer the money to you right away."

Grace just looked at him, not saying a word.

"You don't believe me?" But as soon as he took out his phone to call Celeste, looking confident, and before he could speak, Celeste spoke first.

"Mr. Montague, Miss Williams has arrived in Evergreen City, and the internet is full of rumors about you and her. Her parents even claim that she is your wife, but Grace intervened and became your wife first, But she was hit and hospitalized."
