Chapter 31

“I'll kill you all!” I could no longer control myself.

I attacked the people in my office indiscriminately. The pain I was in made my mind very chaotic.

Even deep down in my heart, I felt that I was completely alone at that moment. No one understood me or wanted to be with me, even though I had previously thought that they would always support me. But why, after Erica left, did everything feel so chaotic? Where exactly was the mistake? How could everything happen without me being able to handle it properly?

Perhaps because of my deep anger, they all decided to attack me together, and before I lost consciousness from the attack, I saw that they were all staring at me with very sad expressions.

I don't know if they were mocking me behind those expressions, but I only remember that their expressions were very sad, and I really hated those expressions.

I don't know how long it was, but suddenly I was awakened by a voice. A voice that I missed so much.

“Erica!” I shouted, quickly looking for the source of the voice, but unfortunately when I came to and opened my eyes, I was very surprised to see my surroundings. I felt that this place was a little unfamiliar, but not completely unfamiliar.

I felt that I was somewhat familiar with this place, but I couldn't remember where I had seen it before.

“Alpha Richard, where have you been? I missed you so much,” said a very soft voice in my ear.

I could now see where the voice was coming from.

“Erica?” I said softly, but unfortunately, the girl I saw didn't seem to notice my presence there. I didn't know what she was doing in this place.

“Erica, what are you doing?” I asked again because suddenly she passed right through me.

Yes, at that moment I was quite surprised because my body suddenly became transparent, and how could this happen?

Naturally, I followed where Erica went. And what did I find? I found every moment when Erica tried to get close to me, but I blatantly ignored her, and I really didn't understand when I did this.

Then, before I could comment, the scene changed again very quickly.

Every time the scene changed, I felt that what I was seeing was very ridiculous.

Why did I see that Erica was always seeking my attention at every opportunity, but I never once turned to look at her? Even though Erica seemed to be approaching me very cautiously, how could I always ignore her there?

I stood frozen in the middle of the constantly changing scene in front of me. Every time I blinked, the world around me spun, as if time itself no longer had any form. I didn't know where I was, but the strange feeling in my chest told me, this wasn't the real world.

Now, my gaze stopped at a place that felt very familiar. The school hall. The evening light penetrated the large windows, reflecting soft shadows on the shiny floor. In the middle of the hall, I saw someone sitting in the back row, Erica.

The girl looked down, her black hair falling over part of her face. Around her, people were passing by. Some stared at her with disgust, others whispered while holding back laughter. I could hear harsh words coming out of their mouths.

“She's so weird.”

“Don't go near her.”

“You know, she's just a troublemaker.”

Those voices were like needles piercing my heart one by one. I tried to step closer, but my feet made no sound. My body was completely transparent. I reached out to touch her shoulder, but all I felt was a cold breeze passing through my own skin.

“Erica,” I whispered, my voice almost swallowed by the air. But the girl didn't turn around. She just stared at the book on her lap, her eyes empty, but clear water fell silently down her cheeks.

I wanted to scream, to chase away everyone who treated her like that. But no one heard me. No one saw me. I was just a shadow among memories I couldn't touch.

Then, the world shook again.

This time I saw myself. I was in a version of myself that was alive, standing not far from Erica. I was joking around with friends, laughing freely, and seemingly unaware that Erica was sitting alone behind me, looking down and clutching her book tightly.

I looked at myself with a sudden feeling of regret that choked me. Why didn't I see her then?

Why didn't I realize that she just wanted a little attention from me?

“I'm here... I'm here now, Erica...” I said silently, moving closer. But as before, I passed through the bodies of the people around me. I couldn't touch anything. I couldn't change anything.

The scene changed again, this time to a small garden behind the school building. Erica was standing under a tree, holding something in her hand—a bracelet that I knew was mine. I remembered it now. I had given it to her without thinking much about it when we were still close. But I never knew she had kept it all this time.

But before I could get close, a group of people came. They laughed, mocked her, pushed her shoulders, until the bracelet fell and broke. Erica just stood there, not fighting back, not screaming. Her tears fell one by one, but no one cared.

And I, I could only stand there, watching from a distance I couldn't break through. I tried to scream, punch the air, force myself to break through this barrier, but nothing happened. My hands passed through their bodies like mist.

“Please don't do this, please, stop, I beg you.”

But the world kept moving, ignoring my existence.

Until finally, everything went dark.

I fell into the void, and for a moment I thought it was all over. But then, a small light appeared in the distance. I walked toward it, slowly, and there. I saw Erica again.
