Chapter 139: CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY NINE

MARK'S POV

There was something going on in the palace, but I couldn't even tell exactly what it was. I just knew that the energy about the whole thing was wrong. And at the same time, it all felt right. Anna was busy, still cleaning Derek. The only issue I had was that she never did it on time. Father always had to be the one reminding her. And of course, he never missed the opportunity to insult and remind me that I could never take over Derek's pack.

I can't even deny the fact that I have thought about killing Derek countless times. I mean, he was just useless, laying in bed, smelling until Anna came to take care of him. He was practically useless there.

I had been planning to go see him, and just put an end to his misery, but there was always a guard at the door. I noticed that they were barely there at midnight, so I hurried there. True to my thoughts and after enough planning, there was really no one there. I slowly put my hand across the door knob. I had various options at putting an end to him.

I had to pick between killing him in my werewolf form, which would have been fun because he never ever gave me breathing space when he was in his werewolf form. He was constantly claiming that he was better. And maybe it was just time to show him. The only thing that he could do was look at me while I ripped his insides open with my claws.

The second option was killing him with a knife. That would have still been as messy as the wolf method, and I've seen too many people get caught by that method.

The third one, which is the one I am highly in support of, is the cyanide injection method. All I had to do was inject him with a portion of cyanide, and watch him die without making a sound. As I slipped out of bed, with Anna sleeping on the floor, I had to check my pocket countless times to make sure that the injection was there in my pocket. I couldn't take the risk of not getting the job done at once.

I walked into the dimly lit room. It was sad because Derek would never sleep with any atom of light except the moon. But there he was, with candles and no one to put them out. Just as I thought, he was wide awake. His eyes were turned towards the door, trying to see who it was. He was honestly slightly shocked when he saw me. I could tell that I was the last person he was expecting. But then, who else? Vivian? I tried to hold myself back from laughing.

“Were you expecting someone else?” I asked, and theoom in his eyes told me he wished.

“I'm here to see you anyway,” I said like it was the happiest thing that could ever happen. If I could get my plan to work, then trust me. It was going to be the happiest thing to happen. “And I might be the last.”

Derek might have been bed ridden. But trust me, he wasn't slow. His eyes widened in alarm. One thing my father wasn't smart enough to do was put an alarm beside him just in case he needed anything.

But oh… how would he even reach to touch it? The whole thing was just too funny, and I could not stop making fun of it.

I found myself sitting down. I couldn't stop myself from doing that thing where people talked to their preys before they went ahead and killed.

“You were the worst older brother. You know that right?” I asked, expecting no answer. But I was sure he knew. “Every single time, you had a chance to prove yourself, and all you did was betray and break rules all the time. Somehow, you got lucky and got a pack of your own when we both know that you don't deserve it.” It was obvious that he wanted to say something so bad. “All you did was steal all the good stuff. Father might have said that I was his favorite child, but we both know who the favorite child is.”

I looked down, and watched his finger move. Well, I wasn't going to take any chances of him standing up. My life was already miserable enough. Father had somehow managed to bring his pack to the floor. And now, after this death, the plan was to mourn for a day, and then ask to take over. If Father didn't accept then, then I would know that it was something deeper than whatever he said the issue was.

I gently brought the injection out of my pocket with a smirk on my face. “Until we meet at the other side, brother,” I said, as I lifted the injection, aiming for his neck.

“What the fuck are you doing?!” I heard someone scream. I turned back immediately. I didn't let go of the injection. I didn't care who was going to watch. Just like the others, Father was going to have to let this sin slide as well.

The person turned their lamp even higher. I could see that it was Amelia. I didn't know if I could trust her with something like this. If it was before she left the pack, I would have known that I would be able to trust her with anything. But after she returned, she was just being overly nice. After all, she was the one that managed to stop Anna from killing Derek as well.

But I wasn't hiding my intentions.

“I'm helping him out an end to his miserable life. Nothing much.”

Her eyes widened. “With an injection?” She asked, like I had better choices. “How would you do something like that?” She asked, destroying the beautiful momentum that she was building. “He is your brother.”

“And he has managed to ruin everything that I have. Vivian was supposed to be mine. He took that. The pack was supposed to be mine. He took that.”

Amelia shook her head, taking gentle steps and something told me that I wasn't going to like whatever she was going say next.

“Maybe if you were a better person, all those things would have come to you instead.”

I cocked my head to the side. I just knew that she wasn't going to say something I was going to like. I held the injection in her direction. She was of no use to me either. It wasn't going to hurt if I split the dosage into two. The effect was going to be the same.

“You don't have a say over the things that I can do,” I said, and she frowned, with her shadow, prominent on the wall.

“And your Father and the pack would never forgove you for killing him.”

I shook my head. She suddenly looked behind me. “He's moving!” She screamed, and I quickly turned.

Before I could even register what was happening, she grabbed the injection from my hand, stabbing it into my neck, and pressing down.

The last thing I saw was her own shocked look before my world went blank and silent as my body hit the ground in a heap.
