Chapter 48: Whose Side Are You?
Chapter 48: Whose Side Are You?
Scarlett's POV.
“Just go your girlfriend wants you,” I said, avoiding his gaze, but his hands moved to my waist. “When did I ever called her my girlfriend?” He asked, making me looked at him.
“Miss Kendrick make so many assumptions I can't even figure out what you are going to call me next. Probably someone's husband?” He chuckled, and I was confused.
“Who is she then?” I asked, but he just smiled. “Later, I will tell you later. But for now, don't think of anything silly or I will teach you a lesson.” He whispered, squeezing my ass through the clothes. I blushed, looking at him.
The moment the air between us cleared, it was like a weight I hadn’t realized I was carrying finally slipped from my shoulders. My chest rose and fell a little easier, and my heart—tired from all the racing and overthinking—finally found a steady rhythm.
“Later?” I breath erratically. “Yes, I will tell you then.” He mumbled. He left the room promising to talk to me at night. I was rest assured and decided to trust him fully.
I looked at him again—not through the haze of assumptions or the sting of unspoken words, but clearly. His eyes weren’t the enemy; they were familiar again, kind. And I could breathe.
There was a swirl of relief, warmth, and just a little lingering ache—because it hurts seeing how cold he was towards me earlier.
But more than anything, I felt a quiet kind of joy, the kind that hums beneath the surface. The kind that says, We’re okay now. And that felt good.
And after some time,
The sky shifts slowly, brushing itself with bruised purples and warm golds, as if reluctant to let go of the day. “It's evening already?” I thought, wondering what was taking him so long.
There’s something about that hour—that in-between space—that makes me reflective. Not sad, just... aware. Aware of time passing, of all I did and didn’t say today, of the peace that sometimes only comes when the world starts to dim.
I wanted to eavesdropped on their conversation so much but I was scared of getting caught by Logan.
He probably would get angry if he caught me doing that. I paced around my room waiting for him to enter as he does, but he didn't. “What are they talking about?” I asked no one in particular.
'What is wrong with me?’ I thought, wondering why I was so worried about Logan. 'Why should I care about him?’ I scoffed.
“Knock knock,” a maid announced. “It's time for dinner, ma'am.” “I will be there soon.” I responded and jumped out of the room immediately, trying to use the opportunity to check on Logan, but I couldn't hear a thing from his room. “Are they whispering?” I wondered and went downstairs after so many attempts to hear his voice.
I went straight to the dining table, and my face lit up seeing him there, but my mood dampened when I saw her. 'That crazy bitch!’ I hissed inwardly as I sat down beside Logan, and he pulled the chair closer to himself than usual.
I looked at the lady sitting across from me, and she looked like a whore, a complete one at that. She was dressed to seduce on the dining table. 'pink?’ I widened my eyes after realizing it's just a few inches away to see her nipples. I didn't know their relationship, but she was surely trying to seduce Logan.
I could see everything! But I looked away angrily, like it wasn't my business, but I cared. She's bouncing on her seat to get her boobs attention.
“Serve the food.” Logan winked at me as he said, Making her burn with anger. Not too long after, we started eating.
“Young girl, what's your name?” She asked with so much disrespect swimming in his voice, but I acted casual. “You must have heard it earlier when Logan called my name. But since you are an old woman, I will tell you again.” I blurted, and she threw a dagger at me with his eyes.
If looks could kill, I would have been six feet beneath the ground already.
“My name is Scarlett.” I said. “So, what about you, old woman?” I asked, and I heard Logan chuckle. “I'm not an old woman!” She yelled.
“Yes, but you are older than I anyway,” I dismissed the topic. She calmed herself down and then started talking again, but I didn't concentrate on a single word coming out of her mouth.
I was wearing my regular evening gown, not too short, but it was a little bit above my knees. Logan found his way into my panty and slipped his fingers inside of me.
Why didn't I notice earlier? One of his hands was missing on the table! I bit my lip to control myself, but I couldn't, as a moan escaped my lips. “Ahhhh!”
Sarah looked at me confusedly, but I fixed my expression immediately, and Logan began to eat again. He smirked naughtily at me. He just teased me and made me moan on the dining table.
'Logan, you are evil!’ I thought as I blushed. Sarah would kill herself if she noticed, but she didn't. “So, what do you do? Are you done schooling?” She asked, and I was starting to get annoyed at her crazy question.
“I would appreciate if you—ahhhh!” I was saying, but a moan slipped out of my lips again, and at that moment I thought he'd catch on, but she didn't.
I slapped his hands away, but he was so stubborn as he shifted my panty again. “Have some shame we are three on the table.” I mumbled beneath my breath, and Sarah hissed thinking I was acting crazy.
“Logan. Will you follow me to the mall tomorrow?” She asked, and he shook his head. He pulled out of me. “I am busy for the whole week, but I can send one of my men to escort you.”
“Oh.. okay,” she nodded with a disappointed gaze. The maids came to clear the table, but one of them mistakenly graze Sarah's shoulder with her arm, and before she could apologize.
“Ptatttt!” A resounding slap was landed on her face. “I'm so sorry ma'am!” The maid fell on her knees without protest.
“What? How could you do that?” I fired at her. “Shut up twerp!” She yelled at me. “You have no right to hit her!” I yelled at her.
“Speak like that in you own house bitch!” She snorted at me. “It isn't your house either!”
“Stand up!” I said to the maid, and she made a move to rise, but—
“Not until I told you to do so!” Sarah sprang up angrily. “Don't you dare cross your boundaries!” She warned.
“Logan, huh? Is this how you want your employee to ve treated? Huh?” I faced him angrily. “Logan, I almost got hurt here. You think a maid is actually worth it?”
“Logan, who's side are you?” Sarah asked angrily.
