Chapter 60: Exchanging Gifts
Golden collected the books awestruck. Getting an original hardcover book was no easy fit and Fab got not one, but six all signed by the author.
This was a rare treasure and she felt warmth flow in her heart.
She reached over and hugged Fab also, thanking him for her priceless gift.
“My turn” Golden said.
“Fab, honestly I had no idea what to gift you, and seeing what you just gave me, I hope you like my gift.
I know how much you love wristwatches and tech, so I combined both into one gift.
Here's a custom made smart watch specifically designed for you. It pairs perfectly with your 5D hologram cuboid and is the only one in the world.”
“Are you kidding me girl? This is better than any gift you would have given me.
I thought my 5D hologram cuboid was the best gift ever now I get a smart watch too and there's only one in the world?
Girl! I am the most envied nerd in the whole world.” Fab said laughing.
Turning to Alex, Gigi handed her a small gift box.
“Alex you came into my life when I was barely surviving. You took my hands and pulled me out of a very dark hole.
Who I have become today is all thanks to you.
They say diamonds are a girls best friend and today I want to ensure we remain best friends forever.”
Alex opened the box to see two diamond necklaces with a heart shaped pendant.
One part had an A and the other a G. The pendants put together formed a complete heart.
Golden picked up the A and wore it on Alexs neck, while Alex did the same for her.
They hugged eachother. No words needed.
“Now my turn” Alex said. “I guess we were all kind of in sync with our gifts.”
“Nerd, just like Gigi, I did get you something techy.
I know you hate wearing contacts lenses so I got you a pair of technological advanced glasses.
You can wear them normally, but they come with tech features that pair well with your hologram and I am guessing your watch also.
So that when you want to play with your toy, you can easily do so without bothering whether you can see or not.
I know it does a whole lot more than what I have said but I'm sure you will find out on your own later.
And yeah, it is the only one in the world. I guess you must have saved an angel in your previous life because you are one lucky nerd.

Fab was almost flying to the roof in excitement. His friends had given him gifts that even with all his money he may not be able to purchase.
He grabbed both ladies and gave them side hugs.
“You two are the best. Only the both of you can pull this off.
This is by far the best Christmas I've ever had.” He said and pecked them on their cheek.
“Now Gigi, your gift is not here. I will need you to accompany me somewhere.
You will receive your gift when we get there.” Alex said carefully and gave Fab a look which he immediately understood.
“Shall we ladies, your chariot awaits” Fab said standing up.
They grabbed their gift bags and went to the car.
On their way to the mystery place, Fab kept them distracted with talks about how he planned to pepper his community.
Apparently, he belonged to an online community of nerds and they were already amazed with his hologram.
He intended to show off his watch and his glasses and make them even more jealous.
They soon arrived at their destination and Alex asked Fab to blindfold Golden.
Fab's job was to make sure he kept Golden distracted that she didn't realize where they were going.
The choice of car was deliberate. It's luxurious interior served as a distraction too.
Fab took out a scarf already prepared and gently blindfolded Golden with it.
“Whats with all the mystery guys?” Golden asked a little excited.
“Don't worry girl, you will find out soon enough” Fab said.
Fab then proceeded to carefully guide Golden to their destination.
Alex had arranged for someone to deliver some things before they got there and everything was set by the time they arrived.
They were at the cemetery where Golden's parents were buried.
Alex had arranged for someone to tend to the graves and prepare things used in paying homage to the dead in Chinese Culture.
Alex signaled Fab and he took off Golden's blindfold.
Golden was shocked when she realized where they were and immediately took a step back.
Fab was standing behind her so she hit his chest.
Alex took a step forward and held Golden's hands.
“Golden I know you shut yourself up with your parents the day they died.
A part of you died that day, and the other part has just been surviving.
Today we change all that. You are not alone anymore Golden” Alex said.
“We are with you girl and together we are going to create new memories” Fab said moving from behind her to hold her second hand.
“From where I come from, we always honor the dead and we carry them along with what goes on in our lives.
We have what we call tomb sweeping and winter solstice where we burn incense and offer prayers to our dead.
I have prepared everything for you. And although you are not Asian, I hope this would help you heal and move forward.”
Alex then proceeded to light up the incense, knelt down and bowed three times to Golden's parents.
“Hi Uncle, hi Aunty. My name is Alex and I am Gigi's best friend.
I came today with Gigi and Fab our nerdy Friend to pay our respect.
I want you to know that Gigi has become a very beautiful woman.
She has also become stronger and doesn't let anyone bully her anymore.
You can rest well now. She has two more people looking out for her.
I'll try to bring Varney here another time” Alex finished and went to stand beside Golden.
