Chapter 164 Silent vows

Chapter 164 Silent vows
Chapter 164: Silent Vows

Xander and Golden left the hotel after saying their goodbyes.
“Baby please can we go somewhere?” Golden asked.

“Sure, where do you want to go love?” Xander asked as they pulled out of the parking lot.

“Can you please stop at a florist first, then drive me to the cemetery?”

“Okay no problem. Are you okay my love?” he asked concerned.

“Yeah I'm fine.”

They stopped at a florist and Golden got down to buy white lilies. She got back to the car and they began their journey to the cemetery.

It had been a while since Golden visited her parents’ grave and she somehow missed them.

They arrived at the cemetery and Xander followed Golden closely, holding her hands and keeping her from tripping on anything.

They walked for a while till they got to two tombstones, where Mr&Mrs Nixon were buried.

Golden released his hands and bent down to place the flowers she had brought on them. Then she sat down in-between them.

“Hey mum, hey dad, how are you guys doing today? I'm sorry I haven't visited in a while. I've been in England for a couple of years now.” She paused and wiped a stray tears.

“Your baby girl is doing okay. I have about eight months left of med school then I will be a doctor.

Daddy you are proud of your princess right?” she asked no one in particular. “Mum I came with someone today, his name is Xander. He isn't just anyone actually, he's my boyfriend.

Dad you would really have loved him. He's really smart, he's kind, caring, has a sense of humor, very handsome, but most importantly, he treats your princess very well.” Golden smiled to her dad's tombstone.

She was a daddy's girl and tried to imagine what life would have been if he was alive. She brought out her handkerchief and wiped the tears that was coming out of her eyes.

Xander stood quietly by the corner, silently accompanying Golden. He had thought she was only visiting her parents. He didn't expect that she would introduce him to them.

He felt a sense of elation and something else he couldn't describe. This was his girl that he had loved silently for years.

He had watched her crumble after her heartbreak. He had mustered courage and asked her to open her heart again.

He watched her gradually learn to trust again. He waited patiently by her side till she finally opened her heart and let him in.

Now she was before her parents, introducing him to them. This was the highest form of honor. She had said she loved him, she told her friends she was in love with him.

But introducing him to per parents? Now that was a very big deal. It made Xander realize that she had dropped the last brick of wall she had held up and let him in completely.

It was like saying she trusted him completely. And Xander wasn't about to take that trust for granted. He squatted and sat beside Golden.

“Hello Mr&Mrs Nixon. My name is Alexander Mendez and I'm Gigi's boyfriend. I must say, you both are lucky to have had such an amazing daughter.

She's one in a million. Sir, Ma'am, thank you for giving birth to Gigi. I'm the luckiest man on the planet to be with her,” he paused and looked at Golden before continuing.

“I promise to love her unconditionally. To cherish her, to make her a better version of herself. I promise never to hurt her, to never to lie to her, to choose her first every time”

Golden couldn't help it and let the tears flow freely. She was laughing and crying, Xander was making a vow in front of her parents and somehow she knew he meant every single word.

“She might be a little indecisive sometimes, but I promise to always be patient.” he continued. “I'm not perfect, but I promise to be a better me for her. I wouldn't let my imperfection hurt her.”

He held her hands and continued. “I love Gigi with the whole of my heart and I promise to love her forever.”

Golden immediately hugged Xander tight. Every word he said, she engraved in her heart. She also made a silent vow to continue to love him.

No matter what happened, she would believe him first and choose him. They seemed to be in the perfect space right now, but Gigi knew better than anyone else that life was far from perfect.

One thing she knew though was that she was ready to weather any storm that might come their way.

They left the cemetery and decided to go see a late night movie before heading home.

They got to the cinema and Xander went to get the tickets and some popcorn. Golden sat on one of the benches, waiting for Xander. They still had another 30 minutes before their own movie started.

Golden was chatting with Alex when she felt a shadow stop over her head. She stopped what she was doing and looked up to see who it was.

Standing right in front of her was Allan. She hadn't seen him in over six months and was the last person she was expecting to see.

Allan had casually agreed to accompany Octavia and her friends to the cinema. He had just gotten their tickets when he sighted Golden from a far.

He was quite surprised to see her there. She seemed to be alone and before he could control himself, he found his legs carrying him right to where she was.

“Hello Gigi, how are you?” Allan asked a little hesitantly. “What are you doing here?”

Before Golden could answer, she saw Octavia coming her way with a very big smile.

“Gigi! It's so good to see you! The last time you didn't even say goodbye.” Tavia said huging Golden.

Golden hugged Octavia back and as soon as she broke the hug, she saw Xander approaching from the corner of her eyes.

She felt a tiny bit of a headache coming up. If she had known she was going to run into Allan, she would have rather they watched the movie at home in the home theater.

Now the situation was awkward and she had to deal with it.
“Hi Tavia. Sorry I left in a hurry the last time. I had something I needed to attend to so I left. How's Rema?” she said with a smile.

“He's good. He's having a boys night at home so I dragged Allan to accompany some friends and me out.
Are you here alone?” Tavia asked.

“Actually no. I came with...”

“Sorry princess, they are out of regular popcorn so I got you caramel popcorn instead, I hope you don't mind?” Xander said, handing Golden the popcorn and sitting beside her.
