Chapter 163: Going Public
Alex and Rosa were the first to arrive at the restaurant. Fab had already made a reservation.
While they were chatting, Fab arrived next. He came along with a female companion. She was a very pretty lady with short blonde hair.
“Hey bestie,” he said giving Alex a hug and a peck on the cheek. “Hey Rosa, it's good to see you. How are my angels doing?” he greeted Rosa also.
“They are doing very well thank you. I don't know what charm you used on those three but they absolutely adore you.” Rosa said.
“Ahem! Aren't you forgetting something Nerd?” Alex said, clearing her throat.
“No I did not Tiger.” Fab said and pulled out a seat for his guest. “I know you already know who this is,” he said rolling his eyes.
“Anyways, Rosa this is my girlfriend Brianna. She's in town and I decided to bring her out to meet you guys.
Brianna, this is Rosa, Alex's mum. She's the mother of the adorable triplets I keep telling you about.”
“Hi Rosa, it's nice to meet you.” Brianna said with a smile.“Fab can't stop talking about the triplets and I can't wait to meet them.”
“I love those kids but I wouldn't be too excited if I were you.” Alex said with a smile. Then she stood up and went to Brianna to give her a hug.
“It's nice to finally meet you in person. Girl phone camera does not do you justice. You are way finer in person.”
“You are really pretty too Alex. Where's Gigi, I've been dying to meet her too.”
“Did someone call my name?” Golden, who had just arrived said.
Alex and Brianna broke their hug and turned towards her. “Brianna?” Golden said, looking at the pretty blonde girl by Alex's side.
“Yeah it's me.” Brianna said with a smile and hugged Golden. “It's so nice to finally meet you Gigi.”
The rest of the crew hugged each other and sat down. Quick introductions went round the table and soon everyone was familiar with each other.
“Happy birthday Alex. I do hope you got your birthday wish.” Rosa said, giving Xander a knowing smile.
“Wait, it's your birthday today Alex? Fab never mentioned.” Brianna said looking at Alex.
Rosa noticing what she had just done quickly made amends. “Oh no Honey, Xander is also Alex and it's his birthday today. We grew up together and we used to call him Alex so I've gotten used to it.” Rosa explained.
“And since we have another Alex, we call him Xander instead to avoid confusion.” Fab said with a warm smile.
“Oh now I get it. Happy birthday Xander.” Brianna said with an embarrassed smile.
“Thanks Bri.” he responded. “It's actually cool to be namesakes with Alex so it's no biggie.”
“Gigi you are glowing,” Alex said with a smirk. “Don't you guys know how to share good news when there is one?”
“Gosh Alex, you are incorrigible.” Fab said, rolling his eyes at Alex. “But answer the question Gigi.” he said turning to Golden with a smile.
“Are they usually like this?” Brianna asked Golden, looking from Alex to Fab.
“Pretty much!” Golden said shaking her head and smiling.
“So? Come on Girl, don't keep us waiting.” Alex said, bringing the conversation back on track.
Xander relaxed in his chair, his hands behind Golden's seat. He waited to hear Golden's response. He wanted to know if she was ready to make them public.
Golden knew there was no escaping this question. Alex would hunt her down and drag it out of her so she might as well just tell them.
Besides, she was happy to introduce the important people in her life to the new love of her life.
“Okay guys, stop giving me that look. Xander and I are officially a couple now. I realized that I am actually in love with him and there is no point holding back anymore.
Happy now, Alex?”
“Pretty much! Congratulations Xander, I was really rooting for you.” Alex said.
Xander felt his chest swell with love for Golden. She hadn't only acknowledged him, but she also declared her love for him in front of others. This act, made him fall in love with her all over again.
“Wow Xander, congratulations. You are one lucky dude.” Fab said.
“Thanks Fab. I really am lucky to have the most amazing lady love me.” Xander said with a lovestruck look.
“I believe it's time to return this then.” Rosa brought out a key and handed it over to Golden. “I wouldn't be needing this anymore. Congratulations guys,” Rosa said, a little emotional. “You both deserve to be truly happy.”
“Thanks guys, really. And thanks for helping plan my birthday dinner. It was a pleasant surprise.
Fab, the chef you hired was really amazing. I would need his number for future purposes.” Xander thanked everyone.
“He's our personal chef so that might be a little difficult doc. But I will be sure to pass on your compliments to him.” Fab said.
Everyone was shocked. They didn't expect that he would ask his family's chef to personally cook for Xander.
Golden looked at him with gratitude and mouthed a thank you.
“Good one Nerd. You always deliver when you need to.” Alex said pretty impressed.
“Cut it out guys. My bestie finally found herself a hottie whom she's in love with and who is equally crazy about her. So of course I'm going to step up and give her the best.” Fab said.
The rest of the dinner was fun and lively. The waiter brought in a small cake and everyone sang the happy birthday song for Xander.
He blew out his candles and cut a piece of cake and fed it to Golden. He then kissed her in the presence of her family.
Everyone cheered and someone whistled. Xander wasn't expecting any gifts but he received gifts from Alex, Fab, and Rosa.
Soon it was time to leave and they all walked together to the car park. Alex walked beside Golden and Fab. Brianna was a step behind them answering a call and Rosa and Xander were walking side by side.
“I'm really happy for you Alex. Gigi is an amazing person. I wish you guys happiness, and I hope you guys will share another good news soon.” Rosa said to Xander.
“Thanks Rosa. I really love her and I hope to wife her someday. But there's no rush,” Xander said as he stared at Golden who was walking in front with so much love.
“I'm so happy for you Gigi. You finally got yourself a man who loves you and is not ashamed to show it.
It's so evident in the way you are glowing tonight that you made the right decision.” Alex said as she put her arm around Golden's neck.”
“I'm really happy guys.” Gigi said to Fab and Alex. “I finally feel seen. I have someone who loves me the right way.”
She looked behind at Xander and they held their gaze for a few seconds. Their eyes full of love for each other.
