Chapter 119: The Coup 5
Soon, they boarded and Ken went back to the helicopter with the team and left for the Industrial Area. Meanwhile, Mike was happy to leave the hospital to see his friends off, but was emotional. Even though he went back with the team, he missed his friends in common good – volunteerism. All the same, having exchanged contact details with them, he would always reach out to them.
At the Industrial Complex
When the team dispersed to their various departments of interest, Ahmed chose to begin the day's work at the underground.
“I wish to have the syndicates' phones.”
He requested after the greetings.
“Consider it done, boss. They are still with the Head of the ICT.”
“Kindly get them at once.”
He said as he looked at his orderly. Then, Justin Waltham the unfriendly looking officer, who took the syndicates from the gate the previous day, volunteered to go with the orderly.
“Thank you for that, Justin.”
Ahmed appreciated. Soon, they returned to the underground at once, and the ICT Manager tagged along.
“Good morning, Mr. Nura.”
Mr. Clarke greeted as he dropped the box of the labelled phones in his front. Ahmed smiled at his humility and appreciated.
“Good morning, Mr. Clarke. Thank you for coming.”
“It is my pleasure, Mr. Nura.”
Instantly, they went down to business.
“I wish to look into the communications between the Head of the Government and the syndicates.”
Now, the ICT Manager and the other security officers were bewildered.
'How come I never thought of this?'
He mumbled. Actually, he was concerned with the communication between the rescued Mike and the syndicates, and he did a good job. Now, he was hard on himself for not being as smart as Ahmed. What he failed to understand was that Ahmed never thought of it too until Ken called his attention.
“These are their phones.” Mr. Clark, said.
“Good. Fish out the head of the syndicates' phone. Let us go through the chats he had with the Head of the Government.”
“All right, Mr. Nura.”
With the aid of the orderly, Mr. Clarke was able to identify the phone immediately and he booted it. Then, he stated.
“I wish I have the contact of Dr. Nkosi. It would have been easier to dictate.”
“That would not be an encumbrance. Let's do a random search. The chats between them would be the latest. After all, the field was acquired yesterday.”
“That is correct.”
They looked at Clinton's recent chats and could not find any communication between him and the Head of the Government.
“This is strange.” The ICT Head pointed out. Another security guard, who had been silent, murmured, “Why did he implicate the innocent man?”
Now, Ahmed smiled softly and requested, “Bring the syndicates' boss to me.”
At the Chairman's Office.
The International Vice Chairman and his team returned to the complex after Jeff and his team members departed. Then, he got a call from the President of his country, who had been worried when he learned of the coup.
“Good morning, your Excellency” he greeted with some brio.
“Good morning, Mr. Israel. I hope you and yours are good?”
“We are good, your Excellency. And you?”
“I'm good. What is the state of affairs, generally, over there?”
“We are following the news and watching. The Young CEO left with the rescued patients for Toronto, this morning.”
“I don't get it. I learned that all boarders were shut due to the coup.”
“You are right. Letting him leave is the wise decision the interim government took. They wished to clear every negative impression that the murder attempt had created.”
The President laughed softly and acknowledged.
“I got it. What about the rescued Nigerian?”
“He is good. I will return with him whenever I'm set to do so.”
“That is commendable. Permit me to ask for a favor.”
“Go on, your Excellency.”
“Could you find out from him if there are other youths like him, who were victims of human trafficking and wished to return home?”
Now, Ken thought for a while before he said, “I'm not promising anything, your Excellency, but I will see what I can do.”
“I'm banking on you, Mr. Israel. Be careful and see you later.”
“It is all right. See you later.”
Now, while he spoke with the president, Ahmed walked in and sat beside Drake, who was monitoring the stock market. After the call, he looked at Ahmed, and he moved over to the visitors' seat.
“What's up? Is there any update?”
He asked and focused on Ahmed's worried face. Then, he shook his head in dismay and made reference to the interrogation he conducted on the syndicates' boss, and Ken was short of words.
At Toronto – The Ancestral Manor
Mr. Morris was proud of his grandson when the Prime Minister called to inform him of Jeff's refusal for his identify to be revealed.
“I said it. He is more security conscious than anyone else” he pointed out.
“You are right. He must be a very conservative person.”
“Yes. Especially in terms of security issues.”
Now, before Jeff took off from South Africa, he informed his grandfather through a message that they hoped to be in Toronto after eighteen hours. Then, he responded.
“It is all right. Safe flight.”
Then, Mr. Morris sent a message to the Prime Minister at once, and informed him of Jeff's movement, and he graciously gave him a call.
“Hello, Mr. Morris. I appreciate the information.”
“It is all right. What are your plans?”
“I will inform the committee in charge of the honor if you let me know their time of arrival.”
“If there is no hitch on the way, I expect them by 2 AM.”
“It is all right. I will revert.”
“Thank you.”
After the call, Mr. Morris relaxed on the couch and his wife, who had been listening to their conversations, laid on his legs, suddenly, his phone rang again.
“Jewel!” he exclaimed, and his wife got up at once. Then, he picked the call and greeted.
“Jewel. How are you?”
“Good day, grandpa. I'm good. How are you?”
“I'm fine. How is school?”
“School is fine. How is my grandma?"
“Your grandma is fine, and she missed you.”
“I missed her too and that is why I called.”
Now, Mr. Morris looked at his wife and she smiled broadly. They were aware of where Jewel was going because such statement usually come up when she is homesick.
