Chapter 40: ~ The Lost Pages of Memory
The grand reception had left Mia both exhausted and exhilarated. The glow of the evening still lingered in the corners of her mind as she settled into her new home with Rudraksh. Everything had felt surreal—the overwhelming love of their families, the grandeur of their celebration, and the whispers of promises yet to unfold.
But something lingered at the back of her mind, like an itch she couldn't scratch. Fragments of moments, distant yet familiar, flickered through her consciousness like an unfinished story.
Rudraksh noticed her absent expression as they sat in their bedroom late that night. The soft glow of the bedside lamp bathed her face in golden hues, but her gaze was distant, unfocused.
"What's on your mind, love?" he asked, brushing a stray strand of hair behind her ear. His touch was gentle, but his voice carried the weight of concern.
Mia blinked, snapping out of her daze. "I... I don't know. I keep feeling like there's something just out of reach, like I'm supposed to remember something important, but it slips away every time I try."
Rudraksh's jaw tightened slightly, but he kept his expression calm. He had spent the last several months protecting her from her past, hoping she would never have to relive the pain. But could he stop fate from weaving its own course?
"Memories can be tricky," he said carefully. "Sometimes they come back when you least expect them. Maybe you just need some rest."
She nodded, though uncertainty still clouded her features. He kissed her forehead, pulling her into his embrace, hoping to shield her from the weight of the past.

The next morning, Mia woke up with a start, her heartbeat erratic. A dream had shaken her—an image of a vast field, a heavy downpour, and a voice calling her name. The voice was familiar yet distorted, as if calling from another time.
She sat up, pressing a hand to her forehead. Rudraksh stirred beside her. "Mia? What happened?"
"I... I saw something. A field. It was raining. And someone... someone was calling my name."
His entire body stiffened for a fraction of a second before he composed himself. "It was just a dream, sweetheart. Don't think too much about it."
But Mia couldn't shake the feeling that it wasn't just a dream. It was something more—something real. And for the first time in months, she felt a desperate need to uncover what had been hidden from her.

Later that day, she was sitting with Tusha and Vaani in the living room when a sudden headache struck her like lightning. Images flashed before her eyes—faces, voices, laughter, tears. The pain was overwhelming, a sharp throb that made her gasp.
"Mia! Are you okay?" Vaani grabbed her arm, worry evident on her face.
Mia held her head, squeezing her eyes shut. And then, like the final piece of a puzzle clicking into place, she remembered.
Everything.
Her past. Her accident. The days she had lost in confusion. The pain, the betrayal, the love, the longing—all of it came rushing back, consuming her in a tidal wave of emotions.
She sucked in a shaky breath as realization settled in. "I remember..."
Rudraksh entered the room at that moment, immediately sensing the shift in the air. Mia turned to him, her eyes wide, brimming with tears. "Rudraksh, I remember everything."
His breath hitched. He had been dreading this moment for so long, yet now that it was here, he had no idea what it would mean for them.
Mia stood up, her hands trembling as she reached out to him. "You kept it from me, didn't you? To protect me?"
His throat felt dry, but he nodded. "I was afraid it would hurt you again. That you weren't ready."
She searched his face, and instead of anger, all she found was love. Pure, unwavering love. And in that moment, she knew—no matter what had happened, no matter what she had forgotten, he had been her anchor through it all.
Tears streamed down her face as she stepped closer, wrapping her arms around him. "Thank you," she whispered. "For standing by me, even when I didn't remember you."
Rudraksh exhaled, relief washing over him. He tightened his arms around her, pressing a kiss to her temple. "Always, Mia. Always."
As their family watched the emotional reunion, smiles of joy and relief spread across their faces. The lost pages of Mia's memory had finally been found, and with them came the certainty that their love had survived the test of time.
The warm glow of the afternoon sun filtered through the glass windows of the Sekhawat mansion, casting golden hues over the spacious living room. Laughter echoed from every corner as the family bustled around, preparing for the long-awaited family hangout. After everything they had been through—the ups and downs, the heartbreaks and reconciliations—today was a day to celebrate togetherness.
Mia adjusted the loose strands of her hair as she watched the commotion with a small smile. It had been a few weeks since she had regained her memories, and every moment since then felt surreal. She still couldn't believe that she had forgotten her own love story, her struggles, her triumphs. But now, with Rudraksh by her side and her family's unwavering support, she felt whole again.
"Aaj toh mazedar hone wala hai," Tusha announced excitedly, bringing out a tray of snacks.
("Today's going to be so much fun.")
Vaani plopped onto the couch beside her, nudging her playfully. "Are you ready for this, bhabhi?" she teased. "Today, we won't let you sit quietly. We have games, challenges, and lots of fun planned."
Mia chuckled, shaking her head. "I'm always ready."
Animesh, who had been setting up the board games, grinned. "Okay, let's start with a rapid-fire round. One wrong answer, and you have to do a dare!"
"Sounds interesting," Rudraksh smirked, pulling Mia close. "But if Mia gets a wrong answer, I'll do her dare."
"Oho! Protective husband mode is on," Aarav teased, earning a few chuckles from everyone.
The rapid-fire round began, and the room filled with energy. Questions were fired one after another, from favorite childhood memories to embarrassing moments. The family was engaged, laughing and teasing each other with every answer. It was a rare sight—everyone free from responsibilities, from work, from worries.
As the game progressed, Mia found herself thoroughly enjoying the moment. The bond she shared with Vivaan and Ahana, the understanding nods from Chirag, the warmth of Tusha's motherly presence—everything felt like home.
The next challenge was charades, where pairs had to enact movie scenes while others guessed. It was during this game that Rudraksh ended up mimicking an overly dramatic proposal, getting down on one knee in front of Mia.
"Madam, aap se shadi karne ka moka de sakta hoon?" he said in an exaggerated romantic tone.
("Madam, may I have the honor of marrying you?")
Mia burst out laughing, swatting his arm. "You already married me, idiot!"
"Arre, confirmation lena zaroori hai," he replied cheekily, making everyone laugh.
("Hey, confirmation is necessary.")
As the evening rolled in, the family decided to have a mini picnic in the backyard. Tusha and Chirag set up a small barbecue, while Animesh and Vaani spread out a large mat, laying down food and drinks. Aarav played some music on his speaker, filling the air with soft melodies.
Mia leaned against Rudraksh as they sat beneath the fairy lights. It was moments like these she had once longed for—peace, laughter, and love surrounding her. She glanced around, memorizing the sight of her family together, their eyes reflecting the same warmth she felt inside.
"Isn't this perfect?" she whispered to Rudraksh, intertwining her fingers with his.
He looked down at her, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. "It is. And it will always be, as long as we're together."
The night ended with a round of heartfelt conversations, old memories being relived, and new ones being made. As Mia rested her head against Rudraksh's shoulder, she realized—this was more than just a family hangout. It was a celebration of love, unity, and the strength they had built over time.
And in that moment, she knew—no matter what challenges lay ahead, they would always have each other.
