Chapter 154: All for You, Husband
Sasa just continued to stare at the ground. This boy did smell like her, like Fenris, like a puppy. But they buried their child, Fenris showed her the grave. She planted flowers around it and kept it clean. Even Sköll and Dagrim had told her it was her child. There were never twins, just the one. Looking up at Leo she wondered, could it really be? Deep down she knew, that was why her instinct took over while she was asleep and saved him. He looked just as scared and uncertain as she did.
“We didn't abandon you,” Sasa whispered weakly. “We would never have left you anywhere, especially here, especially with that monster,”
“Fenris told me your whole story as a vampire. If I am your son, I know you wouldn't have left me,” Leo admitted as he leaned down to look at Sasa.
“I have to tell you, in your blood, the call of Luna rests,” Sasa announced. “You never have to answer the call, but it will shorten your life if you do not. Wolves aren't meant to be human and get sick and die around half a century of age,”
Fenris cautiously laid a hand on her head, “Sasa, do you really just want to warn the boy about being a werewolf?”
Sasa started to cry harder as she shook her head and looked back down at the ground, bawling her fists in her lap.
“Sasa, settle, it's all okay,” Fenris tried to say soothingly. He tried to hold her again, but she growled through her tears. Sighing Fenris just left his hand on her head.
“Sasa,” Leo said nervously, “I don't blame you for what happened. It'll just take us all a while to get used to the fact my mother looks like she could be my sister,”
Fenris chuckled, “Actually, depending on the night you'll look older than her. Wolves can control their age, and she still feels like a teenager,”
“So, you have finally figured it out, my pet?” Dr. White's voice said over the speaker system in the room. “The boy is your child. You don't know how lucky I was to stumble across him. I got to collect unmeasurable amounts of data from him over the years. One reason I wanted more werewolf children from Hati. I wanted to compare them to Leo since his genetic make-up is so unique. Do you know how hard it is to impregnate a she-wolf,”
While the man in white gloated over the intercom a change came over Sasa that made both men in the room nervous.
“And now she realizes you were stolen,” Fenris muttered so softly he knew only Leo heard him. Sasa was bristled too much to hear anything. Fenris even removed his hand and shifted his position closer to Leo. In this state Sasa acted more on her instinct and Leo smelled human.
Once Fenris removed his hand Sasa stood, her eyes once again the color of blood. Her hair even seemed to float about her in her anger. Namuh rose behind her and shook his head as he woke up. Both master and monster growled and approached the glass with red burning eyes. Sasa pounded on the glass and cracked it. The collar on her neck crackled, but she didn't feel it. Namuh reared up and threw his weight in to his talons as he fell upon the glass. With a mighty roar of triumph, the glass shattered. When Namuh touched it; Sasa's collar didn't go off. Climbing into the small control room, Sasa looked for the man in white, but he was gone, and the door was a normal door. She hissed at Namuh, and he knocked it down with his tail. Pulling and stretching on the mighty dragon she shifted his scales into a slender dragon like Dagrim had described Lady Tamtutia looking like so that he could fit through the door.
“I've never seen a vampire do that,” Leo admitted fearfully.
Fenris laughed, “Sasa is not your average vampire. She is a werewolf and a vampire, and both get cranky when their children are harmed. Come on, if you’re going to join us, we need to keep up. Even I haven't seen Sasa out for blood like this,”
“Is following her safe?”
“No, you saw her. However, she is in just as much danger from herself. I have to follow her to protect her,” Fenris said as he started to climb through the broken window.
Leo hesitated, but decided to follow anyway.
The first few humans Sasa came across she ate. She was hungry and her anger destroyed her need to care who she hurt. All she wanted was the man in white and she was going to rip him into tiny little pieces. Unfortunately, once she found the man in white, he somehow had a hold of Fenris.
“You will release him immediately!” Sasa roared at the same time Namuh snarled and flexed his claws.
“Now Sasa, you may be indestructible, but is your plaything?” Dr. White threatened as he held a silver knife up to his throat. A stake was lodged in his heart and Sasa knew he couldn't defend himself.
“Where is my son?” Sasa snarled.
Two guards stepped out of a room and showed Leo in chains. He looked frightened and confused. He bore the marks of being struck about the face. Sasa growled as Namuh roared again. Oh, how Sasa wished the dragon could breathe fire as it gouged out long marks on the wall from thrashing his tail.
“Amazing, I raised this dog since infancy, but you come along and he bites the hand that feeds him,” Dr. White mocked as he lifted Leo's head and turned in from side to side. “Is it true family ties, or vampiric witch craft?”
“Stop touching my son!” Sasa demanded.
“You've been a bad dog, Onisagira. I think I should take one of these men away from you. Now this one can't leave unless he is human, you know the rules. This one however, I can reassign him to a different base. However, he is a werewolf. I have ordered my men to ignore this fact. Outside of my protection I cannot guarantee such a thing,”
Sasa growled as her mind worked. She would have to follow the plan anyway. Fenris could take care of himself, Leo was just a boy. A late teen, but still a boy. “I know you have other vampires here. Fetch me your strongest psychic,”
Dr. White passed Fenris's limp form over to a guard. “My strongest psychic isn't allowed out of his cage. I will take you to him. I take it this is to turn Fenris human?”
Sasa nodded as Namuh huffed. Sasa began to follow the man in white. Namuh settled himself in the hall to watch over Fenris and Leo. They traveled deep into the compound, but Dr. White stopped at the end of a hall. Only one door sat at the end. Sasa looked at the doctor. She could kill him now. No one would know and she could over power all the other humans.
“I wouldn't try it my dear. I am stronger than I look, just as you are,”
Sasa snarled and continued on her way. She opened the door and ventured in alone.
“They're just letting food walk in here now?” a cold male voice asked as Sasa walked into the room. The only light in the room was coming from the hall and the faint glow from her eyes. “No, you aren't food. You're an angry sire, aren't you? What is it you want with me young one?”
“I want your blood. I have to do something to save my mate and I know I'm not strong enough,” Sasa answered.
The vampire laughed, “You think I'll just give you my blood?”
“No, and I didn't ask you to,” Sasa replied.
“You know it is illegal amongst our kind to kill to steal another's power?”
“Yes. I will suffer the punishments for my actions. My father will understand. To protect the ones you love, you will do whatever necessary. I am a vampire, but I am also a werewolf. No price is too high for a wolf. Our lives are expendable so long as our mate lives,”
“You are stronger than you think, little one. I haven't been able to get in your head,”
“At least not as deep as you wish to go,” Sasa corrected as she shot her hand out in front of herself. The force of her push pinned the vampire to the wall.
“Think about what you're doing. Why does that monster have me locked down here. I could stop him if you let me out. If we work together, we could be free,” The vampire tried to barging.
“I'm sorry. Fenris is in danger here. I need to get him out if I'm ever going to escape. As long as that man can threaten me with him, I'm doomed. I don't know you and I don't trust those I don't know. Know it's nothing personal,” Sasa said as she bit down on his neck.
The vampire yelled and tried to fight, even attacked her mind, but she had control of his blood. She drained him into ash. Her body burned as she felt his power rage against hers. She dropped to her knees for a second as the power and pain overwhelmed her. When she was able to stand again, she felt closer to her vampire side than she had in a long time. It didn't help that when she had Fenris bite her she tried to filter her blood so he took most of her wolf ability. Walking back out of the room she wiped the ash from her face.
“You did it,” the man in white said in awe.
“Take me back to my husband,”
The man in white didn't need a telling twice. He began to lead Sasa back up to Fenris and Leo. Once there Sasa ordered Leo be sent to his room for safe keeping, she would take Fenris in another. Once in the room she made her eyes turn blue as she held him in her lap. She yanked the stake out and healed his chest.
“Sasa, I'm sorry,” Fenris began as he woke up.
“Shh, hush, husband. All will be okay, I swear it,” Sasa whispered softly as she pat his head. Tears of blood began to run down her cheeks as she felt her heart breaking over what she must do.
Fenris reached up a hand to wipe one of the tears away, “Sasa, what have you done? You've never cried blood before,”
“All I have done has been to save you, husband. I love you, my sexy lover,” she turned red and smiled as she said those two words she almost never said aloud.
“Sasa,”
“I had to call you that at least once aloud. I love you; I have always loved you and I will forever love you,”
“Elskling, you're not making any sense,” Fenris said worried as he caressed her face.
She nipped and kissed his wrist. Then she laid both hands on his head as she started to control his blood. “Do you trust me, husband?”
“You know I do, but you know I don't like you controlling my blood. Please stop, it feels wrong,” Fenris said frowning.
