Chapter 33: I Am Werewolf
Kenneth was still silent on the sofa still thinking about what he should do. He didn't realize he had been thinking about the problem for several hours. Kenneth was confused about how to face Sheina after today. He didn't expect Sheina's intelligence to guess so quickly. "Sir, I have prepared dinner for you."
"I'll be at the table in a few minutes." Kenneth had no desire to leave his seat.
Oscar frowned at his boss. "Sir, are you thinking of a problem?"
"Go! I was just thinking about something unimportant.” Kenneth half muttered in disbelief which made Oscar understand his boss was lying. But Oscar also respected that decision so he didn't force Kenneth to talk to him. Oscar was not blind to see that Kenneth had been pensive on the sofa for a long time after picking up Sheina.
"Oscar, she could have guessed it." Kenneth let out his voice again at the step when Oscar pulled away from Kenneth. Oscar frowned at his boss.
"Did you just say something, sir?"
Kenneth ruffled his hair in frustration. “Sheina asked me if I was a werewolf? She suspected all the strange things going on around me and analyzed it in her head.” Oscar listened carefully to Kenneth's words. "What should I tell her."
“My advice is that you don't need to dodge anymore. She was sure of her decision. Besides, lying to Sheina isn't that easy." Oscar said his opinion. "If you don't like my opinion, you don't have to obey it."
After exhaling, Kenneth stood up. The man then walked into Sheina's room. He knocked on the girl's door. “Sheina, Oscar has prepared dinner. Besides, I want to talk to you.” There was no answer from Sheina's room even though Kenneth knew that Sheina was still in the room.
Kenneth took the spare key to open Sheina's room easily. The woman was surprised not to think that Kenneth had Sheina's room key. “You should have thought of a more difficult way, Sheina.” Kenneth then locked Sheina's room and took the key that belonged to the woman as well so that Sheina had no chance to run.
After that, Kenneth changed his form to that of a wolf. Exactly like what Sheina had seen before. Kenneth howled to show his existence as well as greeted Sheina in such a form formally. After that, he changed again into his human form. Kenneth grinned.
"You're right, I'm a werewolf."
Sheina gasped. The woman fell to the floor. She knew Kenneth wouldn't kill her but staring at the huge creature up close was not on her wish list. Sheina didn't expect Kenneth to confess so quickly. In fact, when she asked Kenneth that, she still left a faint glimmer of hope that everything was just a lie just a fairy tale that never existed.
Kenneth approached Sheina to help the woman sit on a chair and then handed a drink to Sheina so that the woman could neutralize her heartbeat. “There are many beings in this world, Sheina. But we have joined modern civilization. Groups don't hurt people. We choose to coexist. As long as they don't bother me, I won't do anything bad.”
Kenneth explained everything about him to Sheina. “But George is a different creature. The man is a ruthless vampire who targets humans. He didn't want to coexist with humans. He is a true bloodsucker although not all vampires are like that. some choose to drink animal blood.”
"But I shouldn't get involved in your bickering anymore. George shouldn't bother me anymore because I'm sure he can get blood that is healthier than mine which has a rare disease.”
Kenneth took a bite. "I confess I never thought like that when I asked you to leave me. But then Erick found something special in your body. You're no ordinary human, Sheina. You have the DNA of the Elven race passed down from your mother.” Kenneth told him everything he knew about Sheina. “If George knows about the power that exists in your body, then he will take advantage of you, making you the most terrible creature. I don't want that to happen. That's why I'm holding you back today."
"Nonsense. I can't believe what you're saying. How can you accuse me of being a weirdo?” Shaina shook her head.
“Sheina, I didn't mean to say you're a strange human. Trust me." Kenneth tries to explain to Sheina about the woman's true identity. “Perhaps you also get answers from your rare disease.”
Sheina didn't understand what Kenneth was saying. She didn't want to accept any more explanation from that man. “Stop talking, sir! I don't want to hear anything more about you or your theory to me.” Shaina covered her ears. "Get out of my room, sir!" Sheina pushed Kenneth's body even though the force never meant much to shake the man.
Kenneth exhaled looking at Sheina's reaction. "Okay! I will leave your room." Kenneth left the woman while Sheina was still sobbing unable to accept her fate. She couldn't understand. Sheina was confused by her identity.
Her parents never told her about it. Her father never mentioned Sheina's mother as another mythological creature like Kenneth. Sheina doesn't understand why she is different. She couldn't accept that she and Helena had different blood even though they came from the same parents. How can Helena be an ordinary human while Sheina has a rare aura that can make people affected by her presence. All of Kenneth's words sounded like gibberish to her ears.
Since that day, there has been no talk between Kenneth and Sheina. The girl spent most of her time in her room. She even refused to eat with Kenneth at the dinner table. Sheina barely left the room at all.
“Sir, you spoil her too much. Her attitude is too much. Does she think beings like us are disgusting?” Niko is offended by Sheina's attitude.
“She must be surprised to receive that fact, Niko. You have to understand the situation. She was bullied all her life and always felt lonely because of her illness. She wished someone could accept her as a friend without considering her any different from others especially to her sister. But now, her hopes are dashed because her identity can't make that dream come true. She needs time.” Kenneth explained trying to understand Sheina.
"Then what would you like to do, sir?" Oscar was worried about Sheina.
“You have to keep an eye on her, Oscar. In the meantime, I'll be with Niko. No need to bother her. Just make sure she doesn't run away or do anything crazy." Kenneth finished his breakfast this morning. Oscar nodded his head in understanding with Kenneth's order.
When finished, Kenneth walked into Sheina's room. The man cursed at Sheina's bedroom door without forcing his way in like before. “Sheina I can understand that you haven't wanted to talk to me because you're disappointed or because of anything. I only ask you one thing, you are not allowed to leave this apartment for any reason! I don't want you to be in a dangerous situation. Oscar will be near you. You can call him if you need help. If you are ready to talk to me, you can contact me at any time.”
After saying this, Kenneth moved away from Sheina's bedroom door. The man left for the office without turning back.
