Chapter 9: Dean Hurt

Azura also came with the others. Robots have no emotions and expressions so all Alexa saw from those who came were blank faces that made Alexa confused about how to explain the situation.

"What's wrong with Dean?" Finally, Alexa asked and approached Dean's bed where the man was lying.

No one answered because Jasfer seemed to be installing something there, making sure Dean was okay even though his lifeless body looked weak.

Alexa was silent, confused about what to do and how.

Harlan was still there and immediately helped Jasfer. Harlan was better at handling Dean who was unconscious. Not only that, Dean's body also had wounds where his skin showed iron and some cables. Alexa seemed to wince seeing that and was only able to stay there.

After struggling for a while with the tool in Harlan's hand with Jasfer's help, they looked relieved now. At least that's what Alexa saw from Harlan who was still expressing.

"Dean is safe now," said Harlan then handed the tool to Jasfer.

Alexa thought the tool used was like a tool that doctors usually use to treat emergency patients.

"Dean had a sudden attack, and it was quite severe," said Azura finally telling Alexa who was silent in her place. "We have given first aid, but he did not regain consciousness. His body strength was also weakening. After we waited for a while, we finally decided to bring him here," continued Azura.

Alexa directed her gaze to Dean who was lying on the man's bed. There were two beds there, one for Alexa, the other belonged to Dean who, as far as Alexa remembered, the man rarely lay there, only sitting quietly on a chair. But now the man was lying there.

"It's starting to stabilize," said the Snow Robot who was there and also checked Dean.

"He'll be fine now," said Harlan repeating what was then agreed by Jasfer.

"Dean just needs to rest," said Jasfer looking at each person there.

Alexa herself sighed.

Jasfer's gaze then shifted to Alexa who closed her eyes to calm herself. Even though the girl had just gotten a big clue, there was something that surprised her unexpectedly, Dean was injured.

"How is your injury, Alexa?"

The girl was a little surprised to find Jasfer already in front of her.

"Oh, ah? Yes, it's getting better," Alexa answered a little hesitantly.

"Okay then. It seems like your recovery is fast?" Jasfer asked again and Alexa nodded her head. "Good. That way, you can take care of Dean now," the man continued.

Alexa's head just nodded.

"He'll be fine, right?" Alexa asked to make sure once again because after all Alexa didn't know how to take care of a robot at all.

Jasfer turned to Dean and nodded.

"Yes. He'll be fine because the commander-in-chief is on the battlefield. Dean won't leave before the war ends," Jasfer said while turning to Alexa.

Alexa nodded her head once again. The girl almost cry if she didn't remember what was written in Azlan's notebook earlier.

"Who is he, Jas?" asked someone who directed his gaze to Alexa.

Jasfer turned his head.

“Ah, let me introduce you, he’s Melvin, the deputy commander and Dean’s best friend,” said Jasfer introducing the new man that Alexa realized was there.

“Hello,” greeted Melvin.

“Hi. Alexa,” said the girl introducing herself.

However, Melvin’s gaze seemed to be fixed on Alexa, wanting further explanation about herself. Alexa was confused by Melvin’s gaze until finally, Alexa looked at Harlan for help.

“Ah, I’ll explain who Alexa is. Come on, let’s go down. Leave Dean here with Alexa,” said Harlan.

Everyone turned to the old man.

“I’m counting on you, Alexa,” said Azura who then chose to leave Dean’s room first.

Alexa nodded.

Jasfer looked at Alexa for a moment then took turns with Dean who was still unconscious then followed Azura.

Melvin did the same thing as Jasfer before leaving as well.

“Call me if something happens. There’s a call button on your uniform, we’ll be there right away if something happens. Just keep an eye on Dean,” ordered Harlan.

Alexa nodded again, and everyone left Alexa with Dean who was lying down.

Finding an unexpected incident, Alexa was now worried. The girl approached Dean who was completely motionless, and sat on a chair near Dean's bed.

"You left for a few days and told me to wait because you would teach me the next step. However, what are you doing now? Lying unconscious with wounds all over your body. Didn't you promise to be my protector?" Alexa spoke with her gaze fixed on Dean who had closed his eyes.

The sound of the monitoring machine sounded loudly in Alexa's ears who were now confused. What should the girl do?

Dean just needed to rest, and once he woke up Jasfer would treat his other wounds. Alexa's attention was drawn to the man's injured arm that showed a layer of steel, and other cables that were the reason Dean was still alive. Alexa remembered she had gripped that arm tightly when Jasfer installed the chip in her body.

"Look at your wound," Alexa said as she reached out to touch the wound.

As soon as Alexa's hand touched Dean's injured arm, Alexa's eyes widened, almost popping out of their sockets in shock at what she saw. With a quick movement, Alexa pulled her hand away.

"What's that?" asked the girl, not understanding.

Wanting to make sure again, Alexa touched Dean's wound again, and miraculously the tips of her index and middle fingers emitted a kind of light and then moved it along the wound on Dean's arm which then closed just like that. Alexa's mouth gaped wide.

"Impossible," the girl muttered.

To make sure that Alexa had other powers, the girl tried it again on another wound, and miraculously the wound closed even though Alexa knew Dean was a robot, but how could Alexa possibly heal a robot?

Alexa turned her gaze to Azlan's notebook which didn't even have any writing like that in it, making Alexa even more confused. The most surprising thing was when Dean moved slowly after Alexa touched him. The girl just realized that her hand was holding Dean.

"Are you awake?" asked Alexa when Dean opened his eyes.

Seeing Dean awake, Alexa was alert and helped Dean sit up and check the screen that displayed Dean's condition. The battery was fully charged, and everything was fine. Alexa breathed a sigh of relief.

“Are you okay?” Alexa asked again while looking at Dean who was also looking at her.

Dean nodded as a sign that he was okay.

Unexpectedly, Alexa hugged Dean and whispered, “I was shocked when I found out you were injured because of the attack. I was worried and scared,” she admitted.

But Dean just stayed silent.

Not immediately letting go of her hug, Alexa closed her eyes. However, for some reason, the girl felt comfortable being there, even her feelings that were previously chaotic were now slowly getting better, and even her heart seemed to be beating normally. After all, Alexa still had a heart which was the reason why Alexa was called a half-robot human.

Who would have thought, that Dean returned Alexa’s hug which surprised the girl?

“Thank you,” Dean said briefly.

Alexa didn’t understand and was about to let go of her hug, but strangely Dean tightened his hug.

“Stay like this. You make me comfortable,” Dean whispered again.

Alexa just followed suit even though she was confused by Dean’s attitude, and they fell silent in an unexpected hug that somehow reconciled them both.

After a while, Alexa was forced to let go of her hug because Harlan called through a communication device that was only connected to Alexa.

"He's fine," Alexa informed Harlan about Dean.

"Stay beside Dean. In a few moments, some high-level robots will come to see Dean. I'll be there, don't move an inch, act like a robot or you can go with Azura, but that won't be enough," Harlan explained from the phone line.

Alexa just listened.

"Just come, I'll be safer if you come, Old Man," Alexa said.

Harlan snorted from the phone line because of Alexa's call.

Not long after that Harlan decided to tell Alexa, and hung up the phone. Footsteps were heard from the direction of the door. Alexa had time to tell Dean that someone had come.

Alexa just stayed beside Dean's bed. The man himself sat in his place letting Alexa act like a robot. Because Alexa was a half-robot human, her body could easily move like a robot even though feelings of fear and anxiety made Alexa move too much.

The sound of footsteps was getting closer, Alexa hoped that the first to enter would be Harlan, but no. The first to enter was a robot that looked so beautiful with a tight red uniform that formed her sexy curves. Her tightly braided hair was exactly the same as Azura's hair. Alexa was stunned, the beautiful face was the first to appear from the open door and walked gracefully towards Dean who was still standing still.

The second to come was Harlan, Alexa was relieved to see the old man again then followed by another robot, and Jasfer and Melvin followed.

"This is not a hospital, you don't need to come that much," Dean said coldly.

“What do you mean? If you don’t come here, how can we ensure our best combat commander?” said the male robot standing next to the female robot.

“Arda is right, Dean. But, seeing you sitting like that, it seems like you’re okay?” The woman seemed to be observing Dean from head to toe.

“I’m fine now,” Dean said again.

“You fainted on the battlefield after being attacked, how are you?” The woman said again with an annoyed expression although Alexa couldn’t find any other expression Alexa could hear it from her voice.

“So, how’s the situation, Jasfer?” The woman asked Jasfer who was behind.

Jasfer stepped forward, standing next to the woman.

“Like Dean said, he’s fine. It’ll just take a few days to recover,” Jasfer explained.

“How many days?”

“About two, or three days,” Jasfer replied again.

“Do that. I don’t want any more chaos while Dean is away from the front lines of war. So, try your best to save him. Whatever it is," said the woman who seemed not to want to know then turned and left the room followed by the others.

Alexa was silent, not expecting to see the woman at all even though Alexa knew she was just a robot, the girl was still amazed.

"That woman is always like that, not letting Dean rest just because he's the best on the battlefield. "Annoying," complained Jasfer while staring at the tightly closed steel door.

In the room there were only Jasfer and Harlan, Melvin went to escort the group.

"They are from the command center tower," said Harlan telling Alexa who had been silent in her place.

The girl nodded her head in understanding.

The command centre was led by a female robot. Alexa was surprised, but looking at Jasfer and Harlan, it didn't seem like it. Alexa wanted to ask but for some reason couldn't.

"You don't need to know who that woman is now. You know in the end, it doesn't matter. Just know that the woman is Dean's boss, who likes to order around," said Harlan again as if he could read Alexa's mind. The girl just nodded her head again. Alexa thought that the woman was Jasmine, the female robot that Azura had mentioned some time ago, but it turned out not to be. However, Alexa wondered if the sexy female robot didn't notice Alexa's presence.
