CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR
CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR
My eyes darted to his hand as the sparkly contents of the glimmered in the dim light.
It was still covered and my tongue betrayed me instantly, watering like I had just escaped a desert.
And like someone banished from the land in a holy book, Wesley dashed to the corner, leaving the tray on the bed, and hurried out the door.
Time seemed to have visited a circus as I stood there mouth wide apart.
Who is the weirdo here?
“I’m sorry, and… I’ll leave now, if you need anything, let me know, the soup would help you feel better, the maids would be back tomorrow so that's why I had to deliver it myself”.
He announced, his voice dangerously even, I could hear his footsteps as he marched back to his room with calculated long strides, or the kitchen I guess.
Did he… see me?.
“Oh!, I didn’t even ask where his room is”.
I Fell in bed again, rolling my eyes with a wide smile from one end of the room to the other like a pendulum my mind was as blank as a new book then suddenly I burst out laughing.
Maybe I was still drunk though, I was supposed to be mad_ angry mad instead of psychiatrist-needed madness, I laughed at myself once more.
Then the temperature settled in again, this time I couldn’t bear it.
I shoveled the soup recklessly into my mouth, swallowing hastily, coughing I set down the bowl.
The flavor blurs my tongue but I’m too swift.
“Later, soup” I muttered sarcastically.
The door slammed shut as I flew across the hallway, I could only imagine the cold look I might be greeted with.
But then my heart skipped a bit as I sighted the only room with light on.
The warm glow of the room illuminated the dimly lit hallway, what kind of lighting did he use here and why?
“Wesley!, are you in there?”, I knocked.
No response.
I knocked again after waiting a few seconds without a sound coming from the room.
A shiver ran down my spine, if this wasn’t Wesley’s room, what was it?
The handle squeaked as I shut the door behind me in seconds, something wasn’t right, I just couldn’t place what it was.
Aesthetic vibes on the wall like caterpillars, and the green theme of the room screaming forest setting.
The vibrant green bed and the strong smell of flowers made it seem like I was on stage in a theater.
A forest both eerie and enchanting.
Where was Wesley?
I shivered once again as I thought back on all those real crime documentaries I have been watching these past few days, my mind began to twirl with scenarios:” What if Wesley had something he was hiding in here? A science project?”
No, he couldn’t do such a thing, he doesn’t even look like the science type of guy.
My heart sank and my eyes widened as a shadow cast over me.
Hair flying in the air like a ballerina, I turned around abruptly, “Wesley!?”, I whispered.
He stood just a few inches away from me.
It was him, after all, but… was I safe?, what should I think? What should I fear?
I looked at his unreadable face just as I had anticipated, my eyes wandering, only then did I realize, “Oh heavens!” He had just a towel over his waistline.
Water dripping from his curly black hair down his muscular chest, his nipples standing erect like they were saluting the queen, and his dark skin pale from the water he just wiped off, I could see his tattoo finally, “Is that… a flower?”, I questioned with a mocking smile, after all, he acted all vigorous Every time, now he had a tattoo I would consider feminine.
I chuckled pointing at it, but Wesley’s reaction contrasted deeply with my enthusiasm.
His lips were pressed in a form straight line as his eyes bore deep into mine, staring into my soul Like he could read my mind, the fear I had when I entered the room returned and I shudder.
“Why did you leave your room?” Wesley questioned, his voice slow and alluring, like… the devil, his words echoing, from my ear down to my mind, over and over again.
I shut my eyes allowing the words to sink in and sighed.
“Uhmn… I… I… Uhmn” I stammered, oh no!, my mouth had betrayed me once again, I should just let my eyes remain closed, because if I keep looking at Wesley, that masculine body? I would miss the words again.
So I shut my eyes again, “focus Anna” I said to myself inaudibly with a deep breath, “now why am I here?”, I continued, questioning myself.
“Uhmn… Wesley, thanks for the soup, the room is a bit hot and I do not know how to fix the heater, could you help me?” I finally let the words out.
I could hear him chuckle, what’s wrong with this pervert now, why does he want to taunt me?
“Ehemn”, he cleared his throat like an old man seeking attention in a noisy meeting. “Your eyes are still shut Miss Anna” he announced.
My cheeks flushed red as my heart sank for the thousandth time this night, and my eyes flashed open in disbelief.
Why must he always look for a way to vex me at every given point?
“It’s none of your business, the light is too bright for me to survive in your forest, what is this place?” I questioned, standing akimbo.
Wesley smirked, slowly he came closer, his eyes still locked with mine, he knew just how to silence me.
My eyelids clipped tightly unconsciously, I could feel his warm breath on my face.
"Wesley" I wispered.
