Chapter 68: My husband's mistress is a man 4

Elias Gray lay half-propped against the headboard, papers spread across his lap. His tie was undone, his shirt unbuttoned halfway. The golden light from the bedside lamp cast a soft glow over the mahogany walls of their master bedroom, dancing shadows across the political reports and speech drafts in his hands.

The sound of running water had stopped ten minutes ago.

Now, the bathroom door clicked open.

June stepped out in nothing but a white towel, steam trailing behind her. Her skin glistened from the heat, her curls piled into a loose bun. Even now..at thirty..she looked untouched by time.

She was still the girl he’d met at the end of high school. Seventeen. Small, soft, and impossibly curvy. Full lips. Wide, innocent eyes that always held something smarter behind them. Quiet. Strategic. Seductive without trying. And dangerous.

Half of his political career had her fingerprints all over it.

She had known how to talk to the right people, how to threaten the wrong ones. She made things happen behind the scenes while Elias delivered speeches and shook hands. He was the face..but June was the shadow. The real architect of their rise.

Third-generation political nobodies, now the power couple of the state.

He watched her move across the room like a goddess unaware of her own divinity. Her towel clung to every dip of her figure, barely holding together at her chest. She sat at the vanity with effortless grace, unscrewing a jar of night cream and dabbing it gently along her cheekbones.

Elias shifted, his attention faltering from the documents.

She hadn’t looked at him yet.

He could still remember when their nights were filled with passion. But in the last couple of years, things had changed. June had grown colder. More distant. Sex had become mechanical..scheduled, then dismissed. When he tried to talk about it, she’d shrugged.

“Get a younger woman,” she’d said once. “If you need more.”

He knew she hadn’t meant it.

But he’d taken her advice anyway.

Avery.

Twenty-five. Dangerous in a different way.

Now June stood, stretching, reaching for her robe.

And that’s when it happened.

The towel slipped.

It fluttered to the floor like it knew exactly what it was doing.

Elias’s eyes widened. His body responded instantly.

What the hell?

He had just been with Avery an hour ago. They’d barely made it back before June walked in.

And yet..There it was. That pull. That hunger.

June was radiant. Not in the usual “wife of a senator” way. Not polished and manicured. But raw. Soft. Eternal.

Her breasts were full and high, her waist curved in ways that made his throat dry. Her hips, her thighs, her everything..it was maddening.

He shifted again, subtly covering himself with a pillow.

June noticed.

She turned, catching him mid-glance.

Her expression didn’t change. She bent down, slowly, to retrieve the towel.

“Forget how to knock?” she said calmly.

“You dropped it.”

“Did I?” She wrapped it around herself again, but not before letting him look a second too long.

Elias blinked. “You’ve… you’ve been working out.”

She raised an eyebrow as she walked toward her nightstand. “That’s what you say to your wife now?”

He cleared his throat. “I meant…you look…”

June slid into bed, turning off the vanity light. “Don’t strain yourself, Elias. It’s okay.”

“It’s not.”

She looked over at him.

He looked genuinely lost.

“I just..I don’t understand why I’m still this… affected by you.”

She didn’t smile. But she didn’t look angry either.

“I never stopped being me,” she said simply.

“I know.”

“You just stopped looking.”

He shifted toward her. “That’s not fair.”

She turned to him fully now, propping herself on one elbow. “Isn’t it?”

Elias didn’t answer.

She leaned in, brushing her lips against his jaw..soft, slow.

“I never stopped wanting you,” she whispered. “I just stopped trying to keep you.”

Elias turned to her, eyes searching.

“Why?”

“Because the moment I have to compete for you… I’ve already lost interest.”

They stared at each other in silence.

Then, finally, she pulled away, laying back on her side of the bed.

“Sleep, Elias. We both have things to do tomorrow.”

He watched her in the dark, still hard, still aching in ways that had nothing to do with just sex.

He wondered what she was thinking.

And if the real game had only just begun.

The morning sun bathed the Gray estate in gold, casting soft light through the vast windows of the dining hall. The long mahogany table was dressed like a banquet..fresh fruit glistening in crystal bowls, omelets perfectly folded, croissants warm and stacked high.

Elias sat at the head of the table, nursing a black coffee and scrolling through his phone. Avery, impeccably dressed in a soft beige button-up, sat three seats away. Their daughter..fifteen-year-old Eliana..was quiet at the far end, eyes glued to her phone, occasionally rolling them in dramatic teenage fashion.

And then, the sound of heels clicking across marble.

Elias glanced up. His fingers froze.

June.

She swept into the room like the scene of a dream.

Her skirt was tight and high-waisted, molded perfectly to the round of her hips. A silk blouse..green, low-cut, dangerous..clung to her curves, leaving just enough cleavage exposed to make his mouth go dry. Her heels clicked with precision, her hair was pinned up, a few loose strands dancing across her cheekbones.

She looked like lust dipped in elegance.

“Good morning,” she said simply, sitting at the opposite end of the table.

“Morning,” Elias muttered, his voice huskier than he expected.

June poured herself some tea, crossing her legs slowly..deliberately. The slit in her skirt shifted up just enough to show the tops of her thigh-highs.

Elias shifted in his seat.

God, she looked..

His thoughts snapped when he felt something.

A foot.

Avery’s.

It grazed his ankle beneath the table. Casual. Testing.

Elias gave no reaction. He couldn’t. Eliana was still seated, oblivious. June? She was buttering toast with dainty precision..but he knew better.

The pressure increased.

Avery’s foot dragged upward, slow and shameless. Elias’s breath caught. He reached for his glass of water.

June raised her eyes briefly and met his.

Unbothered. Controlled. Smiling just enough to say: Keep it together, darling.

She sipped her tea.

Avery’s foot found its mark..his inner thigh..and pressed in. Not hard, but enough to send heat through Elias’s gut.

Elias gritted his teeth, hiding his reaction with a cough.

“Eliana,” June said smoothly, standing, “be ready to leave when I come back down. Don’t drag your feet this time.”

“Yeah, yeah,” Eliana mumbled.

“I forgot something upstairs,” June added, already turning.

Elias stood too. “Same. I left a file in the study.”

Eliana looked up. “Seriously? You both forgot stuff at the same time?”

“Welcome to marriage,” June called over her shoulder.

Avery smirked behind his juice glass.

Alone at the table, Eliana crossed her arms and shot Avery a glare.

He rolled his eyes, stabbing a piece of melon.

Upstairs, June moved through the master bedroom in quiet strides. She stepped into the bathroom and closed the door softly.

She opened the mirrored cabinet, reaching for a small bottle hidden behind mouthwash and anti-aging serum.

Birth control.

She popped one pill onto her tongue, swallowed dry.

The door creaked.

She spun around..just as Elias stepped inside.

His brow furrowed. "You okay?"

June smiled faintly, closing the cabinet with a soft click. “Fine. Just needed a moment.”

He moved toward her slowly, stopping just short of touching.

“You looked…” He paused. “Incredible this morning.”

She arched a brow. “I always do.”

Elias chuckled. “Yeah. But today… you’re trying to kill me.”

June tilted her head. “Is it working?”

He stepped closer. “I don’t know what’s gotten into me lately.”

She leaned against the sink, eyes narrowing. “Is that so?”

“I haven’t stopped thinking about last night.”

“It wasn’t much,” she said coolly.

He frowned. “It was everything. You walking out like that..every curve, every inch of you..it wrecked me.”

“You’re easily wrecked these days,” she murmured.

“I’m serious.” Elias brushed his fingers down her side. “Let me remind you what this used to feel like.”

He leaned in.

June didn’t stop him..at first.

Their mouths met, slow but intense. He deepened the kiss, hands sliding to her waist. She allowed it, for a moment, teasing his tongue with hers before pulling back.

“No,” she said, voice calm.

Elias blinked. “What?”

She stepped out of his hold and straightened her blouse. “I’m late for work.”

“June..”

“Don’t beg. It’s not attractive.”

She turned to the mirror, fixing her lipstick. “You’ll survive.”

And just like that, she walked past him and out the door..leaving Elias hard, breathless, and completely stunned.
