Chapter 205 Vampire Luna
Chapter 205 Vampire Luna
The middle guard burst into heavy, desperate sobs, tears and sweat pouring down his pale cheeks in thick streams. His eyes were bloodshot and swollen, filled with a wild, suffocating terror as he looked up at the towering Alpha.
"Sir... please!" he wept, his trembling voice cracking with absolute desperation. "Please forgive me, sir! I swear to you on my life, this was just a one-time mistake! I have never missed a single guard shift before today! I have always been diligent, loyal, and dedicated in my work for this garrison!"
He wiped his wet face against his dirty sleeve, bowing his head back down toward the wooden floorboards as he pleaded for his life.
"What happened that day... I was actively on duty at my post," he whimpered, his whole body shaking like a leaf in a storm. "And then I received an urgent phone call... my father had been rushed to the hospital in critical condition. He was desperately sick, sir! He has a very specific heart medication that he must take to calm his racing pulse, but the medicine was locked inside our house! I had to rush home to grab the pills and deliver them to the clinic..."
He raised his chained hands, holding them up in a frantic gesture of mercy as tears dripped off his chin. "Please, sir, have mercy! It was only because of my dying father! The doctors were preparing to perform an emergency operation on him, but they couldn't begin until he took those exact pills to stabilize his heart! I had no idea... I had absolutely no way of knowing that a bloodsucking vampire was going to strike the perimeter at that exact hour!"
He pressed his forehead flat against the cold wooden floor, his chest heaving with heavy, ragged breaths. "Please, Alpha! I have spent my entire adult life serving you with absolute devotion! I have risked my life dozens of times in service to this pack! Please do not execute me! If you kill me today, my father will have no one left to pay his medical bills... he will die right beside me on that hospital bed! I am begging you from the bottom of my heart... please show mercy!"
Damon tilted his head back and let out a sudden, loud burst of laughter. The dark, echoing sound sent a cold, terrifying shiver straight down the spines of everyone standing in the square.
He didn't say a single word. He simply raised his broad hand and made a quick, subtle gesture toward the side of the stage.
Two heavily armed perimeter warriors immediately stepped out from behind the heavy wooden curtain, roughly dragging a man out into the bright morning sunlight. The man was older, though far from elderly, dressed in simple civilian clothes. He stumbled nervously across the platform, his hands bound loosely in front of him as he darted wide, terrified eyes across the roaring crowd.
Damon took a slow, calculated step toward the prisoner on his knees, pointing a leather-gloved finger down at the bound civilian.
"Is this your father?" Damon asked, his deep voice carrying a terrifyingly calm, smooth edge.
The kneeling guard raised his head, his bloodshot eyes expanding to the size of saucers in complete, soul-crushing shock. "No!" he gasped, his jaw hanging open as a fresh wave of panic seized his throat. "No... that is my uncle! He was—"
Before the pathetic guard could finish his sentence, Damon moved with blinding, unnatural speed.
A dark blur flashed across the elevated platform, accompanied by the horrific, sickening sound of tearing flesh and snapping bone. In the blink of an eye, the guard's severed head went spinning through the air, hitting the heavy wooden floorboards with a dull, wet thud and rolling to a complete stop right near the edge of the stage. A bright spray of crimson blood erupted into the air, staining the platform in a dark red pool.
A chorus of shrill, horrified screams instantly tore from the throats of several women in the crowd. People scrambled backward in pure terror, covering their mouths with trembling hands. They had seen many public executions in their lives, but none of them had ever seen a man's head fall so fast and so violently.
Damon casually wiped a small speck of blood off his cheek with the back of his gloved hand, his cold, unblinking eyes sweeping across the sea of pale, petrified faces.
"He attempted to lie straight to my face," Damon growled, his deep voice slicing through the terrified gasps of the audience. "He manufactured a pathetic story about his sick father needing heart medication... but does this man standing right here look sick to any of you?"
The massive crowd flinched as one, answering in a terrified, booming unison that echoed across the entire square. "NO!"
Damon stepped up to the edge of the platform, his dark pupils burning with ruthless, unbridled authority as he pointed out at the audience.
"I am fully aware that some of our worst enemies out in the wilderness might underestimate my intelligence," he bellowed, his top lip curling into a ferocious sneer. "But it is a truly tragic pity that one of my own sworn guards believed he could play me for a fool! Do you people have no idea why they call me the Devil?!"
He spun around on his heel, his dark boots crunching in the fresh blood on the floorboards as he turned his attention back to the remaining two chained warriors. They were both weeping uncontrollably, their knees knocking together so violently they could barely keep themselves upright.
"What about the two of you?" Damon purred softly, stepping closer as a cruel, menacing smirk pulled at the corner of his red lips. "Do you have any last words to share... or perhaps another pathetic lie you would like to tell me before you die?"
Both men opened their trembling mouths, gasping for air as they tried desperately to form words to plead for their lives. But before a single sound could escape their throats, Damon struck again.
His hands moved faster than human eyes could possibly track, blurring through the air like two striking vipers. In less than a fraction of a second, his broad hands plunged straight into the sides of their chests, tearing effortlessly through flesh, muscle, and bone.
A second later, Damon casually pulled his arms back.
Two still-beating human hearts were ripped completely out of their ribs, dropping to the wooden floor with a bloody splash directly beside the severed head. The terrifying, gruesome sight was so absolute and horrific that the entire square fell into a dead, suffocating silence, every single soul frozen in pu
re, unadulterated horror.
