Chapter 39: Yuina Nijima 3

They reach the transition cabin to the next section of the ship.

The door shut behind them, sealing them inside the tiny cabin. Yuina punched in the activation code, and the little cabin moved and shifted toward the next section of the ship.

"let me to the rest." Yuina sits on the floor. "You focus on the controls."

Walker nodded. "Sure thing, babe."

His hands flew over the controls, moving through the process. Yuina took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves.

"Yuina..."

"don't do it at this time! we should arrive at home." Yuina said and crossed her arms to her body.

"I'm just asking—"

"No, no, no!" Yuina said and grab both his hand. "Don't do it at this time."

"I'm just to ask you, Why are you here." Walker looked at her. "Why are you here?"

"Sorry, you always have sexually aroused," Yuina said and kissed his cheek. "And I don't know how to deny your request."

Walker chuckled, shaking his head. “I wasn’t trying to do that, Yuina.”

Yuina’s face turned red. “Oh… well, um… my bad.” She quickly looked away, embarrassed.

Walker smirked, leaning back against the control panel. “But seriously, why are you here? You were a scientist, not a soldier.”

Yuina let out a sigh, hugging her knees. “I was working on a classified project—a universal stabilization system. The idea was to create technology that could prevent universes from collapsing into each other.”

Walker’s eyes widened. “Wait… are you saying the multiverse is unstable?”

Yuina hesitated, then nodded. “Yes… I don’t know how much you remember, but the existence of parallel universes is… fragile. If too many interact with each other, the balance can break.”

Walker frowned. “And you were trying to fix that?”

Yuina nodded again. “I was close to finishing my research… but then they attacked.”

Walker glanced at the monitor—the enemy soldiers were still recovering from the gas trap. “Who are they?”

Yuina’s expression darkened. “A rogue faction known as The Entropy Syndicate. They believe the multiverse should collapse so that only the strongest universe survives.”

Walker let out a low whistle. “That’s some supervillain logic.”

Yuina gave a small, sad smile. “Yeah… and now, because of them, my research is lost. If they get their hands on what’s left, they could destroy everything.”

Walker stepped closer, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. “Then we stop them.”

Yuina looked up at him, eyes filled with uncertainty. “You make it sound so easy.”

Walker grinned. “That’s because I’m with you. And when we’re together, nothing can stop us.”

Yuina stared at him for a moment—then she smiled, her confidence returning. “You always know what to say, don’t you?”

Walker smirked. “It’s part of my charm.”

At that moment, the transition cabin shuddered. The system beeped.

ARRIVAL CONFIRMED. PREPARE TO ENTER THE NEXT SECTION.

Yuina stood up, gripping her weapon. “Alright, honey. Time to fight our way to the escape pod.”

Walker checked his rifle and smirked. “Lead the way, babe.”

With that, the doors slid open, revealing the next section of the ship—and a squad of enemies waiting for them.

In the corridor ahead, two dozen enemy troops waited. They were armed with rifles, grenades, and rocket launchers, but there was something else too—a strange machine hovering over their heads. It glowed with an eerie blue light, casting a dim glow across the walls.

Walker's eyes narrowed as he eyed the enemy standing closest to him: a huge man wearing a black suit of power armor.

"You're one of those Syndicate soldiers," Walker said, pointing his gun at him. "What are you doing here?"

The armored soldier didn't answer. Instead, he raised his rifle, aiming at Walker and Yuina. "Let's see how good your survival instincts are."

Walker fired a few shots at the enemy's chest, then ducked behind Yuina, covering her body with his own as bullets flew past them.

Yuina peeked around his shoulder, firing off a few rounds before diving back down.

Two more Syndicate soldiers rushed forward, firing their rifles.

Walker shot one in the head, while Yuina took care of the other. Then the rest of the squad jumped into action.

Walker cursed as they came pouring towards them, firing their weapons. But before they could fire, Yuina was already moving.

"Get clear!" she shouted, vaulting over Walker's shoulder and rolling to the side.

She landed on the floor between Walker's legs, taking cover behind the corner of the corridor.

Behind him, he heard the sounds of gunfire—and saw three Syndicate soldiers stumbling through the air, falling to the ground. One of the others had been hit by Yuina's grenade.

Suddenly the gravity field activated—forcing Walker and Yuina to drop to the ground. As he fell, Walker grabbed his rifle—but it was too late. There was no time to aim, just as all three Syndicate soldiers slammed into the corridor, firing their rifles.

"Fuck!" Walker grunted, landing hard on his back, his breath knocked out of him.

He couldn't see beyond the wall of his shield, but he could hear the sounds of battle.

"Move!" Yuina yelled, leaping onto his shoulders and vaulting over the fallen soldiers—into the combat zone.

"Shit!" Walker cursed again, climbing to his feet. He saw Yuina tussling with another Syndicate soldier, dodging bullets and throwing punches. Behind her, he spotted Walker's shield flying through the air, his rifle still inside.

A bullet thumped against the barrier, sending a shockwave through his body.

"Movement!" Yuina cried, shooting back.

"Honey, you are gun skills are good more than I thought." Walker grabbed his rifle and ran towards her.

Yuina smirked as she twisted her body, narrowly dodging another shot. “Of course, honey! Did you forget? I designed an autonomous targeting AI for my weapons!”

Walker slid beside her, using the brief moment of cover to reload his rifle. “Wait… so you’re cheating?”

Yuina winked. “It’s called being efficient.”

Before Walker could respond, the hovering machine above the Syndicate soldiers suddenly flashed—sending out a pulse of blue energy. Walker’s vision blurred, his limbs feeling heavy.

“What the hell—?!” Walker gritted his teeth as his movements slowed.

Yuina’s eyes widened. “They activated a Graviton Suppression Drone! It’s increasing localized gravity—we’re getting heavier!”

Walker looked up at the drone, his muscles straining under the weight. “Then we need to destroy that thing before we’re pinned down completely!”

Yuina nodded, her breath coming in short gasps. “Cover me—I’ll take it out!”

Walker pushed himself forward, firing at the advancing Syndicate soldiers. Despite the immense gravitational pressure, he forced himself to move, his muscles screaming in protest.

Yuina activated a plasma charge, setting it to magnetic detonation. She launched the device, and it locked onto the drone.

BOOM!

The drone exploded, sending a shockwave through the corridor.

The gravity field collapsed, and suddenly, Walker and Yuina felt light again. Walker used the momentum to leap forward, delivering a devastating roundhouse kick to a Syndicate soldier, sending him crashing into the wall.

Yuina landed beside him, grabbing Walker’s arm. “We have to move! That blast probably alerted even more of them!”

Walker nodded, panting. “Yeah, let’s get the hell out of here!”

They sprinted down the corridor, dodging falling debris as the ship shook violently. The escape pod bay was just ahead—

But then—

An enormous blast door slammed shut in front of them.

A voice echoed through the intercom—deep, commanding, and filled with malice.

“You’re not leaving so easily, Dr. Nijima.”

Yuina’s face paled. “No…”

Walker clenched his fists. “Who the hell is that?”

The intercom crackled.

“I am General Kael of the Entropy Syndicate. And you… are coming with me.”
