Chapter 35: Weird day
Walker wakes up in his universe and finds himself in his apartment.
He looks outside his window, he sees the sunrise.
"Mew." a kitten comes to Walker, sits before him, and starts purring. Walker pets the kitten and smiles at the tiny creature.
"oh Salad, you are hungry." Walker picks up the kitten and feeds it milk from the bottle.
"Time to university now."
he prepared to go to the university.
He arrives at the university and goes to his class.
"I'm so sleepy today." Michelle sat near him and yawned.
"I know, the weather is bad," Walker replied.
Michelle smile. "Yes, I think so."
"Let's have lunch at the cafeteria after class," Michelle suggested.
"Okay." Walker agreed.
The lecturer gives the lecture and then ends the lesson. They went toward to cafeteria.
"I have a cheeseburger for you." Michelle gave the hamburgers to Walker.
"Thank you." Walker ate the burger happily.
"where is your food, you do not buy anything," Michelle asked.
"Madonna And Vichuda will manage it, I'm just waiting at this here."
"you said Madonna And Vichuda?" Michelle asks.
Walker nodded, swallowing a bite of his burger. "Yeah, they said they’d bring something for me."
Michelle tilted her head, her dark eyes narrowing slightly. "You seem close with them."
Walker chuckled. "They're my friends. Why?"
Michelle shrugged, stirring her iced coffee with her straw. "No reason. I just didn’t think you’d be the type to have so many girls around you."
Walker smirked. If only she knew.
Just then, two figures approached their table. Madonna, with her sharp, stylish outfit and confident walk, set down a tray of food with a playful grin. Vichuda, quieter and more reserved, adjusted her glasses as she placed a second tray in front of Walker.
"Here you go, Walker," Madonna said, sitting down across from him. "I made sure to get your favorite."
"Thanks, Madonna. Thanks, Vichuda." Walker smiled, appreciating their gesture.
Vichuda pushed up her glasses. "You always forget to eat properly. Consider this an intervention."
Michelle watched them interact, her fingers drumming lightly on the table. "So... you two really take care of Walker, huh?"
Madonna smirked. "You could say that. He’s hopeless without us."
Walker rolled his eyes, taking a bite of his fries. "I'm not hopeless."
Michelle shook her head, hiding a small smile. "I didn’t know you had your own personal caretakers."
Vichuda adjusted her glasses again, her expression unreadable. "It's more like he's in our debt."
Madonna laughed. "Yeah, big debt. But we’re keeping track." She winked at Walker as she reached over the table, placing her hand on top of his. "We want you to be well taken care of."
"Well, thank you for all you've done for me." Walker grinned at Madonna.
"You're welcome." Madonna slid off the bench seat, her heels clicking against the floor as she walked away.
Walker watched Madonna saunter off, her confidence radiating in every step. Vichuda, on the other hand, stayed seated, sipping her tea in quiet amusement.
Michelle leaned in, raising an eyebrow. “Okay, seriously, Walker. What’s the deal?”
Walker blinked. “Deal?”
Michelle gestured vaguely between him and the retreating Madonna. “That. And Vichuda. And probably more girls I don’t even know about. What, are you secretly some kind of prince or something?”
Walker smirked, leaning back in his seat. “You think I’m a prince?”
“I think you’ve got some kind of charm that’s working overtime,” Michelle said. “First, Madonna and Vichuda bring you food like you’re royalty. Now Madonna leaves with a wink and a hand on yours? Come on, spill.”
Vichuda, still seated beside Walker, spoke up softly. “Maybe he’s just a nice person.”
Michelle scoffed. “Yeah, right. A nice person who has girls fighting over him.”
Walker laughed, shaking his head. “Nobody’s fighting over me.”
Vichuda sipped her tea again, glancing at Michelle. “Would you?”
Michelle blinked. “What?”
“If it were a fight for Walker,” Vichuda said plainly, adjusting her glasses, “would you join?”
Walker turned his gaze to Michelle, curious about her reaction. Michelle’s cheeks turned slightly pink as she huffed, crossing her arms.
“Why would I?” she muttered. “I’m just asking questions.”
Walker grinned. “Sure, Michelle.”
Before Michelle could retort, Madonna returned, sliding back into her seat. “What’s up? Did I miss anything interesting?”
Vichuda took another sip of tea. “Just Michelle realizing she might like Walker.”
Michelle nearly choked on her iced coffee. “Excuse me?!”
Madonna burst into laughter, while Walker simply smiled to himself.
For a moment, things felt light and normal—just another day with friends. But deep inside, Walker still had questions lingering in his mind.
He back to his apartment after class, and Walker walks with Michelle to a main road.
"Do you have any plans tonight?" Michelle asked casually, shooting a glance sideways at him.
"Not particularly," Walker replied, his voice low. "How about you?"
"Oh, um... no," Michelle said slowly. "I was wondering if maybe—"
"maybe..." Walker interrupted.
"Yes," Michelle cut in quickly, her cheeks reddening.
At the moment Yuina walked behind them, but she didn't seem to notice. The wind blew through her blue dye hair as she walked behind Michelle, carrying a large bag of groceries in one arm.
"she still mysteriously." Walker chuckled softly.
Michelle bit her lip, blushing, trying to figure out what to say next.
"let's go home," Michelle said. "I'm hungry."
"Yeah, okay." Walker nodded.
Michelle glanced at him, then looked down at her feet, her face bright red. "Thanks for walking me here today. It was really nice."
Walker shrugged. "No problem," he murmured, his eyes flicking to the ground as they walked side-by-side.
At Walker's apartment, Walker sat on his chair in front of his computer desk. While his kitten lying on his bed. Walker gave her a scratch under her chin, smiling.
"you're a good cat," he told her.
Salad purred happily as she licked her fur.
Walker thinks about Bernadette, at the story's end she will be happy with him, he can't believe he relationship with an older woman than him, but he loves her so much.
Madonna> Are you sleepy?
Vichuda> Are you still awake?
Madonna and Vichuda send a message to him.
Walker glanced at his phone, reading the messages from Madonna and Vichuda. He smirked to himself—those two always had a way of checking in on him at the same time, as if they were synchronized.
Madonna: Are you sleepy?
Vichuda: Are you still awake?
He typed a quick reply.
Walker: Not yet. What’s up?
Almost immediately, Madonna replied.
Madonna: Just bored. Wanna chat?
Vichuda’s response followed shortly after.
Vichuda: You forgot to eat dinner again, didn’t you?
Walker chuckled. They know me too well.
Walker: I ate.
Vichuda: Liar.
He rolled his eyes but smiled, feeling oddly comforted by their concern. Before he could type another message, his phone buzzed again—this time, it was a call from Madonna.
He hesitated for a second, then answered. “Hey.”
“Hey, Walker,” Madonna’s voice purred through the speaker. “You sound tired.”
“I guess.” He rubbed his temples, leaning back in his chair. “Long day.”
“Hmm… poor thing,” she teased. “I was thinking, maybe I should come over and keep you company.”
Walker smirked, shaking his head. “That’s not necessary, Madonna.”
“Aw, don’t be like that. You know I’m fun to be around,” she said playfully. “Besides, I have snacks.”
At that moment, a new message popped up on his screen.
Vichuda: Madonna is planning something, isn’t she? Don’t fall for it.
Walker laughed softly. “I appreciate it, but I think I’m just gonna rest.”
Madonna sighed dramatically. “Fine, fine. But don’t forget, I’ll get my way eventually.”
Walker shook his head, amused. “Goodnight, Madonna.”
“Goodnight, Walker~” she cooed before hanging up.
He sighed and placed his phone down, glancing at Salad, who was still curled up on his bed.
“Looks like it’s just you and me tonight, huh?”
The kitten mewed sleepily in response.
As Walker lay down, his mind drifted to Michelle’s awkward behavior earlier. Had she been about to ask him something? And then there was Yuina, the quiet girl who always seemed to appear when he wasn’t expecting it.
Life in this universe felt normal… but something about it still felt off.
Was he back where he belonged?
