Chapter 41
After speaking, Russell hung up the phone.
I sneered.
I didn't believe a word Russell said, but now I had no way to prove how much of it was true.
After all, Dorothy's ambition was great, far from being as simple as Russell made it out to be.
I trusted my own feelings and judgment, but in this world, there are always various exceptions.
Like Russell.
I knew Russell's character and personality all too well.
So I trusted my intuition, my judgment, and I trusted him.
But now I didn't dare to take risks, I was afraid of failing again.
So, I chose to remain silent.
I sat on the sofa in a daze, Dorothy's figure and her scenes with Russell flashing through my mind.
I didn't know if I was right to think this way.
I also didn't know what Dorothy would do to me, but I knew that Dorothy was definitely not a good person.
Russell liked Dorothy, the two were deeply in love, and I was the villain standing in their way.
How ridiculous! I didn't want to speculate, nor did I want to think about this issue, so I could only choose to escape.
Because it was the only way.
Dorothy had been recuperating in the hospital due to her illness.
For such a long time, I had come to understand that Russell had no intention of taking care of me.
He didn't even bother to pay attention to me.
I turned a deaf ear to these things, I knew that no matter how excessive Dorothy was, she wouldn't dare to really harm me.
Because in Dorothy's heart, even if I obstructed her love, even if she hated me to the core, she had to consider the power of the Stuart Family.
So that's why she only dared to attack me through public opinion.
The more she talked about me, the more I had to endure, because her health condition, whether real or fake, couldn't be compromised because of me.
During this time, I had almost put all my energy into work.
Although my studio no longer belonged to me, I still didn't relax.
Because I knew that the war between Dorothy and me had just begun.
"Sienna!"
I had just walked into the company when someone called out to me.
I turned my head and saw Jonathan's familiar face.
"What are you doing here?" I narrowed my eyes slightly and said coldly.
"Of course, I'm here to see you!" Jonathan said, taking a step closer to me, "Do you know how much I hate you!"
"How much you hate me has nothing to do with me, I'm not interested in knowing." I said disdainfully, "I only know that I am now Mrs. Percy, please respect yourself."
Jonathan sneered, "Respect myself? What right do you have to talk to me about self-respect? You and Dorothy are fighting over a man, shouldn't you respect yourself?"
"Fighting?" I sneered, "No wonder Dorothy is so stupid, turns out your whole family is full of idiots."
Jonathan's face instantly turned pale.
I continued, "Who left the wedding in the middle of the ceremony, who begged for care like someone on their deathbed?"
"You really are a family, even the way you talk is the same."
When I said this, my tone was very firm.
I didn't know why, but from the beginning, I didn't want to fight with Jonathan, nor did I want to break up with him, but Jonathan always came to provoke me.
This feeling was really bad.
And I really didn't expect that my concessions would lead to Jonathan bullying me even more.
Jonathan glared at me, gritting his teeth, "Sienna, don't forget, you are just a substitute for Dorothy, even if you marry Russell, so what?"
"So what if I'm a substitute?" I raised my eyebrows and looked at him indifferently, "You seem to know everything, then do you know why the Carnegie Family is struggling in the business world?"
My words made Jonathan's face turn ashen.
He pointed at me angrily, "I warn you, don't go too far!"
"Too far? What did I do? I just stated the facts!"
Jonathan's body trembled, obviously driven mad by my words.
I smiled and continued, "And don't forget, I still have the Stuart surname! Jonathan, in this lifetime, I will always be part of the Stuart Family, and I will never be anyone's substitute."
Every word I said was powerful and hurtful.
I knew Jonathan would understand.
"Sienna, you're ruthless, just wait!" Jonathan snorted coldly and slammed the door as he left.
I felt no ripples in my heart, I knew that breaking up with him was inevitable, but I also knew that with their vengeful nature, they would definitely try to trip me up.
So, I decided not to argue with Jonathan for now, as long as he didn't provoke me, I wouldn't provoke him.
But I would never let him go unchecked.
After Jonathan left, I immediately called Zachary and asked him to have someone secretly monitor Jonathan.
Zachary agreed, but I was still worried that Jonathan might do something extreme if pushed too far.
So, I also asked Zachary to secretly investigate Jonathan, to see what he was up to.
My actions made Zachary very satisfied, after all, in his eyes, I had always been someone who didn't know how to protect myself better.
"Also, have someone keep a close eye on Jonathan, no matter what he does, inform me immediately."
"Okay, don't worry, I'll arrange for someone to follow him, he won't be able to harm you." Zachary said.
After hanging up the phone, I fell into deep thought.
I knew that once Jonathan lost his temper, he was capable of doing anything.
I couldn't give him the chance to go against me, so I had to take precautions.
And I also knew very well that if I continued to endure, Jonathan would become even more arrogant, he would definitely do more despicable and vicious things, so I had to stop him.
Meanwhile, at 7 PM, the Brixia Group hosted a banquet for the upper class.
Unexpectedly, Dorothy and Melinda ran into each other.
Dorothy was wearing a pink dress today, looking very sweet and sexy, making it hard for men to take their eyes off her.
Melinda looked at her, curled her lips, sneered, and then looked away, not bothering to look at her again.
Dorothy, however, seemed unaware and walked right up to Melinda, trying to make her presence known.
"Do you need something?" Seeing her approach, Melinda looked at her and said indifferently.
"No, nothing." Dorothy smiled, then said softly, "Melinda, I just wanted to come over and say hello."
Hearing this, Melinda sneered, "Say hello? That's unnecessary."
