Chapter 672: Sophia Gives Birth
She glared at him, her eyes full of anger.
But Leonard acted like nothing had happened, a smile playing at the corners of his lips as he straightened up and continued drinking with the family.
Elise noticed something was off with Orla's expression and immediately asked with concern, "Orla, are you feeling okay? Why is your face so red?"
Orla quickly shook her head. "No, I'm just a bit hot. I want to go upstairs and change."
"Go ahead, you don't need to stay with us."
With permission from the elders, Orla got up and left the table.
She fled back to her bedroom like a startled little rabbit.
Seeing her like this, Paxon immediately got down from his chair and trotted after her on his little legs.
As he ran, he called out, "Orla, wait for me!"
Orla turned around to see him rushing toward her.
She bent down, scooped him up, kissed him, and asked with a smile, "Are you full?"
"I'm full."
Orla smiled and pinched his cheek. "Good boy."
Paxon grinned with his eyes squinted. "I saw what you and Uncle Leonard were doing just now."
Orla was so startled she immediately looked back to see if anyone had followed them.
If Grandpa found out they'd done that in front of so many people, he would definitely blame her.
She carried Paxon into her room and whispered urgently, "Paxon, you can't tell anyone, especially not Grandpa and Grandma, okay?"
Paxon blinked his bright big eyes at her. "Why can't I tell?"
"You just can't right now. You need to help me keep this secret."
"Okay, I won't tell." Then Paxon suddenly thought of something. "So when are you two planning to have a baby?"
Orla breathed a sigh of relief and said with a smile, "I'm not having kids that early."
"But Uncle Leonard is already old. Out of all of them, he's the only one without kids. Even my Godfather is about to be a dad."
Speaking of his Godfather, Paxon's eyes suddenly widened. "Orla, what's today's date?"
"February 8th. Why?"
Hearing this date, Paxon looked a bit anxious. "Today is when Sophia's daughter is being born. I need to go see her right away."
With that, he took off on his little legs toward the stairs.
As he ran, he called out, "Mom, has Sophia given birth yet? I want to go see her."
Joyce smiled and ruffled his hair. "She's already at the hospital, but she just called and said there's no movement yet. It'll probably be a while before the baby comes."
But just as she finished speaking, her phone rang.
Seeing the caller ID, Joyce immediately answered.
"Sophia, how are you doing?"
Sophia's pained groans came through the phone. "Joyce, I can't take it anymore. If I'd known childbirth hurt this much, I wouldn't have done it. Alexander, that jerk—this is all his fault for getting me pregnant."
Joyce immediately tried to comfort her. "Don't panic. Just hang in there. I'll be right over."
Hearing this, Paxon immediately grabbed his little backpack and pulled on Joyce's hand. "Mom, Sophia's having the baby. Let's hurry!"
Half an hour later, the two arrived at the maternity hospital.
Sophia had already been wheeled into the delivery room, with Alexander accompanying her.
Even through the thick door, they could hear Sophia's cries.
Joyce was puzzled. "Didn't she get an epidural? Why does it hurt so much?"
Felicia shook her head, her heart aching. "Sophia said the anesthesia isn't good for the baby and didn't want to use it. We couldn't talk her out of it."
"That tiny side effect is nothing. I had it with all three of my kids, and aren't they healthy?"
"That's just how she is. She seems carefree, but she cares about this baby more than anyone."
Two hours later, the delivery room door opened.
Paxon's eyes immediately widened as he looked over.
Alexander was pushing Sophia out, with a nurse following behind pushing a baby bassinet.
Seeing this, everyone rushed over to comfort Sophia.
Only Paxon squeezed through the crowd and ran to the baby's bedside, staring at the little one with his bright eyes.
He couldn't help but reach out his little hand and gently tug on the baby's hand.
The baby had been sleeping, but at his touch, immediately opened her eyes.
Though just born, those bright big eyes looked exactly like Sophia's.
Her nose and mouth resembled Alexander's.
Seeing such an adorable baby, Paxon grinned and said, "Hi there, I'm Paxon. I'll take care of you from now on."
Hearing this, all the adults who had been checking on Sophia burst out laughing.
Alexander patted Paxon's little bottom. "I finally had a daughter with Sophia. Why should I let you take care of her?"
Paxon looked up at him, grinning. "Godfather, I brought all my gifts. You can't say no."
With that, he pulled a lucky charm from his little backpack and tucked it into the baby's hand.
Alexander asked with a smile, "Who taught you all this, kid?"
"My Uncle Leonard! To get Orla to marry him, he brought gifts too. Godfather, I bought this lucky charm with my own money. It'll keep her safe. You have to put it on her."
Alexander smiled and ruffled his hair. "Alright, Godfather accepts it on her behalf. Now I not only have a daughter, but a son too."
Everyone followed them into the hospital room.
Meanwhile, on the other side.
Leonard had drunk quite a bit to keep Howard company, and the atmosphere was great.
Tyler looked at the tipsy Leonard and teased, "You need to show me your sincerity. Down this glass and I'll accept you."
Just as Leonard was about to pick up the glass, Orla stopped him.
She looked at Tyler with puffed cheeks. "How many times have you said that? He's already had too much. Why do you keep making him drink?"
Tyler smiled. "Already feeling protective? And here I thought you cared about me, but now you've got a man, you don't want anything to do with me."
"That's two different things. He's had too much. I'm taking him upstairs to rest."
With that, she pushed Leonard's wheelchair back to her room.
Then she helped him lie down on the bed and brought him a damp towel to wipe his face.
The moment Orla's hand touched his face, the tipsy Leonard suddenly opened his eyes wide.
Before Orla could react, she was pinned beneath him.
His burning lips covered hers.
Just as she was about to struggle, her lips parted and something cool was pushed into her mouth by Leonard's tongue.
