Chapter 53: Teaching Self-Confidence To My Girl
Maddox’s P.O.V.
After getting off the phone and feeling Remy’s arms around me, I placed my hands on top of hers as they come around connecting together on my abdomen.
“Good morning my husband!” She says as her voice sounds as is she is trying to hold back tears.
“Good morning my wife!” I say back to her as I turn myself around in her arms so I can face her.
“What’s wrong?”
“Who were you on the phone with?”
“How much did you hear?”
“Just the end of your conversation, it sounds like you were talking to a female and was telling her ‘See you later, love you too!’ so?”
“You have nothing to worry about Rem, I was on the phone with my sister. If you don’t mind I would like for us to go meet with her today before we go in for our shift at Oasis!” I say to her, I should have realized that this was going to happen, my Remy has insecurities that just like to make her imagination run wild. I fill her in on the phone call from Gretchen and tell her that we need to get ready, letting her know that we will be leaving the café to go straight to work from there, and that is where we are right now.
I carefully walk pass her into her walk-in closet and I choose a Maroon-looking blazer with a skirt to match, a white blouse and black shoes with a four-inch heel. I hand them to her and then I grab mine and we both then head out the door and into the bathroom next door. We actually shower believe it or not, we dry off and get ourselves dress. I go back into the bedroom first to comb my hair as she stays in the bathroom to do her make-up and hair. After combing my hair, I open the bedroom and passing the bathroom I call out to her.
“I will meet you down in the kitchen!”
“Ok!” She calls back. I head to the stairs and go down them into the living room taking a left I go into the kitchen where Jett and Russell are sitting at the kitchen table drinking their morning coffee.
“Good morning guys!” I greet them as I too go over to the coffee pot, grabbing two mugs out of the cupboard and lifting up the coffee pot I pour coffee into the two mugs, taking one of them and sitting down at the table with the guys.
“Good morning!” They greet me back as I take a seat. We quietly sip on our coffee while Jett looks through the sports section of the newspaper, Russell looks through the crime section, probably looking to see if the three has been caught before they can get a chance to get to his sister, and me just staring at the entrance to the kitchen waiting for my Remy, my girl, my fiancé, my future wife to walk through the doorway at any second. I stop when I hear a voice laughing.
“You’re whipped man!” Jett says as he continues to laugh at my expense.
“What?” I asked not getting the joke.
“You are watching for her to walk in the kitchen aren’t you?” Russell says this as he laughs too much. Remy walks in at this time and looks around at everyone laughing, looking down at what she is wearing, then touching her hair with her fingers checking to see if there is a hair out of place. (This girl, I am going to have to teach her how to be more confident in herself and not think everything that is negative has to do with her. “Rem, you look beautiful, we’re laughing at Maddox and how whipped you made him.” He laughs and her face then lights up red like lights on a Christmas tree. I go and kiss my little angel on the cheek before walking back over to the counter and grab her mug and bring it out to her.
“Thanx!” She says as she shyly takes it from my hand and then seats down at the table next to her brother, I then sit back down where I was sitting.
“I a couple of hours we are going to head out to the café on the corner near Oasis. I haven’t been able to tell you two since you guys weren’t here when we got back last night. The restaurant that I took Remy at last night a waitress named Gretchen was found to be my twin sister.”
“You mean the one that you thought died along with your parents?” Jett asked me.
“Yes, well she called me this morning, and we made plans to meet up, and I am taking Remy with me.” I said matter of fact.
“Ok, so then you are going straight to work from there?” Russell asked.
“Yeah, any problems with me taking her?” I asked them especially since Jett is the head of her security detail according to our boss Aston Ashford.
“No, just stay alert, I know it may be hard with the excitement of reuniting with your sister and getting to know her again, just keep Rem close to you!” Jett says as he takes on a voice of authority.
“Of course!” I said to him reassuring him that I will always have her back. We continue to sip our coffee and as we finish Rem gets up and taking the empty mugs from the table and bring them into the kitchen putting them in the sink. She comes back, but instead of sitting back down she passes us and exits the kitchen going into the living room. I get up from my seat, pushing my chair in and then following after her. “What’s wrong?” I asked her.
“I am just a bit nervous about seeing your sister again.”
“Why?”
“Well, what she going to say when she finds out that I am pregnant and that the baby isn’t yours?” She asked me full of concern, but not for her, for me.
“Nothing, if she remembers anything about me from when we were younger she should know that I don’t judge people for things that were out of their control and that with me being there for you and the baby every step of the way, that I consider that the baby is mine as so are you.”
“I hope so.” She says looking down at her hands link together in her lap.
“THAT IS ENOUGH! REM, YOU NEED TO HAVE MORE CONFIDENCE IN YOURSELF AND YOUR CHOICES! YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL INSIDE AND OUT, CARING, LOOVING AND OVERALL, A GOOD PERSON. ANYONE SHOULD BE HONOERED THAT YOU CALL THEM A FRIEND, I KNOW I DID!” I said firmly to her.
“I know what you are saying but with what I have heard about myself from Harvy, Clark, Gilbert, Aston and Donavon, where would I get this self-confidence, self-esteem that you are always talking about!?” she answers me with tears in the corner of her eyes.
“Rem?” I start as I carefully brush my thumbs underneath her eyes and putting my arm around her shoulders. “You don’t know how beautiful and great you are and that is why I fell in love with you so hard.” I say to her, even if I have to remind her every day why she should be more confident in herself I will.
