208-Not Buying His Words
208-Not Buying His Words
Yuna:
When I came out of the bathroom wearing new clothes to leave with Kedron, I noticed Denzel standing with him.
"Yeah, so I'm leaving," Kedron remarked.
However, I had heard the way Denzel was talking to him.
“I wish I could ask you to not leave, but I believe that if I were in your place, I would have done the same,” Denzel groaned.
“Just thinking that we were telling our father that maybe Violet was the one who had killed Lady Jane, and he still chose her as his mate next. It felt disrespectful to Lady Jane as well.”
It was how Denzel had spoken with Kedron that I got a little enthusiasm in his voice.
He had seemed to push Kedron to leave.
"But do you know where you would go?" Denzel questioned.
"I'll see. Maybe to the mountains, away from the border. I'll go rogue," Kedron replied.
I noticed the corner of Denzel’s lip curling upward.
He did not look tense or shocked at his brother’s decision.
Instead, he seemed pleased.
Of course, he did not know I was standing behind him.
I stayed on the side, watching him.
"Okay then, let me know if you need anything. But make sure you are certain about the decision you are making, okay?" Denzel told Kedron before he stepped out of the room.
I noticed the way Kedron’s hands sped up while he packed our bags.
"Are we seriously leaving?" I asked, and Kedron stopped, turning toward me.
"How could we stay, Yuna? We do not know what else that woman is capable of. Letting her remain here where the crown is already insulting to my mother and me. And now that she will be here, she will take her anger out on you. You are not safe here," Kedron replied, making me wander over to hold his hand.
"I understand what you are trying to say, Kedron, but do you think leaving is the best option?" I asked, and Kedron placed his hands on my waist, tilting his head.
"All I am saying is that if we leave, we are out of their hair. Not only hers, but Denzel too."
As soon as I mentioned his brother, I watched Kedron’s expression begin to change.
I did not know what to say.
He looked excited, interested in what I was saying.
He did not notice it, but I saw the happiness on Denzel’s face.
"Kedron, once you leave, Denzel will be the one to be crowned as the Alpha King. Do you want that?" I asked him sternly, watching Kedron focus on my face.
"Honestly, at this point, I just want justice for my mother, and security for you," he replied, shocking me with his response.
It seemed as if he was not interested in the crown anymore.
"Well, then you are wrong. The minute you gain power, you can do both. Do you not understand that?" I hissed, watching him drift into his thoughts.
"Think about it. Do you think Denzel came here to stop you? He seemed eager to send you off," I explained, and he finally began to understand what I was saying.
“Did his words sound convincing? They were deceptive," once I said that, I watched him getting lost in thoughts for a while.
"Gosh, thank you so much, Yuna. I do not know where my head was," he said as he reached me and held my hand.
However, the moment he touched me and our bodies came into contact, something stirred inside me.
I almost stepped back from him, slipping my hands out of his.
Before I could realize it, the damage had been done.
"Um, are you okay?" Kedron asked, staring at me and then at his hands.
"Yeah, I'm fine. It's just that—" I took a deep breath, searching for an excuse that might keep him from worrying too much, since even I did not know why I had reacted that way.
"Hey, it's all right," Kedron murmured.
He must have noticed how shocked I looked at my own reaction.
"Come here," he told me, pulling me into a hug.
Once again, his touch made me feel anxious, almost defensive, but I forced myself not to react.
He was already dealing with enough. He did not need to worry about me either.
"So, I guess it is from the trauma of what Michaelson had done to you," he uttered, and I nodded slightly, giving him a look that confirmed it.
I hugged him back, trying to get used to his touch again. We stayed like that for a few minutes before he ended the hug and cupped my face in his hands.
"I'll go and speak with Father. I have to come up with a plan to make it clear that it is not easy for him to walk over me. If I have to stay, I will need to make some arrangements to make sure Violet is not wandering around," Kedron suggested.
"What are you going to suggest to your father?" I asked, watching his face intently.
"He has given his time to prove your innocence, right? The same should stand with Violet. She should not be given too much freedom," he replied, and I gave him a nod.
He then stepped out of the room to speak with his father while I sat on the couch, trying to rest.
Eventually, I fell asleep and only woke when Kedron entered the room.
"Is it done?" I asked, and he nodded.
"I am hungry," he remarked.
He did not say much else, only mentioned wanting food.
"We can go and eat," I told him, and he nodded.
"Come with me. We will sit at the dining table, just the two of us, and eat," he suggested, and I held his hand happily.
I had been feeling trapped in the room myself.
However, as we started to step out, a strange feeling washed over me, almost like my body was not in my control, but since he held my hand, I felt somewhat better.
As soon as we reached the table, I bent to grab some food and noticed Kedron behind me, gently touching my back in a playful way.
"Kedron, stop it," I giggled, checking the time.
I did not think anyone would be outside at this hour, and he seemed to be in a very flirtatious mood.
