Chapter 132: 132 Former Lovers...
That entire week, we barely left the bedroom, emerging only to eat or to step outside for the briefest of moments. Until the call from the hospital came—Artyom had regained consciousness.
My joy knew no bounds, and without hesitation I dragged Wayland with me to visit the family of our oracles.
Artyom looked so much better than the last time I had seen him. His complexion had returned to a healthy color, and that disarming, charismatic smile was back on his lips.
They congratulated us on our engagement, and we spent some more time talking with them. I told Wayland everything Lena had once shared with me, so there was plenty for us to discuss.
Zavir was finally being discharged from the clinic today. He would continue recovering at home under Lakisha’s watchful eye. As much of a troublemaker as he was, I had still worried about him. I only hoped he would do right by my Tanyusha in the future… but for now, he would just have to wait and prove himself.
We decided the wedding would take place in autumn. The ceremony would be held on our territory, down by the river—the very spot where we had grown so fond of taking our long walks… and not only walks.
“My Luna, what would you say if we made a quick stop at my office, and then headed straight to one of the best wedding planners?” the Alpha asked, taking my hand as we stepped out of the hospital. “Over the past week I’ve let too many things pile up, and there are a few matters that simply cannot wait.”
“All right, I don’t mind,” I smiled at my fiancé, and together we walked toward the cars.
When we reached the administration building, we made our way to the office, where the same secretary greeted us.
She politely welcomed the Alpha, and with a hint of caution, greeted me as well. To my surprise, I noticed she was dressed rather appropriately today—stylish, professional, and perfectly suited to her workplace.
Well… it was good to see that not all of the Alpha’s former lovers were as brainless as that bleached little mutt from the celebration. Then again, maybe it was just my healing sleep that had managed to knock some sense into this secretary?
Once inside, Wayland headed straight for his desk, where a daunting stack of folders awaited. With a low growl of irritation, the Alpha opened a few of them and skimmed through the pages.
I settled onto the small couch against the wall, quietly observing my man’s sharp mind at work, careful not to disturb him.
Only a couple of minutes passed before I heard the dissatisfied rumble of the wolf.
“Those idiots messed everything up again!” the dark-haired man growled. “Alina, I need to step out to the supply department for a bit. Can you ask Galina to make you some coffee or tea? I’ll try to settle this quickly, and then we’ll leave.”
“Wayland, I’m not in a hurry,” I smiled at my disheveled man. “Take care of your work and don’t worry about me.”
“I love you.” He came over, kissed me quickly on the lips, smiled, and left.
I sat idle for about five minutes. Then I wandered around the office for another five, trying to find some dust—but there wasn’t any. I was honestly bored, so I finally decided to bother Galina for some coffee.
When I stepped out of the office, I found the secretary furiously arguing with some man, who, judging by the tone, was demanding an audience with the alpha. The scene felt oddly familiar, and I decided to help the poor guy, who was being brushed off as rudely as I once was.
I had just opened my mouth when the man turned toward me. And there I froze, lips parted, completely forgetting what I had meant to say—because standing before me, staring straight at me, was none other than Ruslan himself.
