Chapter 209: Chapter 209

Selena

I opened my eyes slowly to mine and Theo’s room, turning to the side  was Theo.

He sat far, a book and pencil in his right hand, his eyes on me.

“Good morning.” He greeted, a little smile on his lips.

“Good morning.” I greeted back.. “What are you doing?” I asked. But I knew what he was doing.

Like a routine, I always wake up to see Theo stretching me on his book. I couldn't understand why, but he said it helps him set his mind for the day.

Though he still won't let me see them.

Before I had felt annoyed but it was different now. It didn't feel like he was hiding something from me anymore.

And waking up to seeing Theo either close to the bed, making a drawing of me, or him being far away from me in the room to get a good angle has become my favorite thing in the morning.

“I need you to turn to your original position, Selena. I need to do something so give me a minute.” He asked, his voice deep yet soft.

“Okay.” I raised my voice slightly and turned to stare at the ceiling, and again my lips curled into a smile.

It had been two weeks since I was discharged by Rayan from the hospital. Though I had stayed just for a few days, I was getting sick of being there, so when I was finally let out, I couldn't help but rejoice.

But Rayan had stated all types of rules concerning my health, and Theo was keeping strictly to them. Even to my sleeping hours.

Since waking up, something was different about him. From his actions to his words.

Theo was more open and carefree now, but he had become five times more protective and possessive.

At first I thought he was still being paranoid, and he would get over it soon, but it appeared not, because each day that passed by, Theo became more protective.

He had followed me everywhere, including the restroom. Sometimes I take a deep breath and then push him out, but he never leaves. Instead, he stays at the door.

And when I take a long bath, I come out to see him sleeping on the floor, his back resting against the wall.

When we sat in the movie room, he would cover my legs with a blanket while I sat on his thighs, his body heating me, his hands rubbing my thighs gently.

The Theo I knew before was like an icy morning; guarded, sharp, and cold on the surface, yet he held deep warmth for the lives living underneath.

But the Theo now was like a soft spring thaw in the morning.

He was filled with warmth and sweetness, making you need to rush out and bask in his glory.

It should be surprising for someone like him to be so different, but I felt this was the real Theo.

The one who wasn't in the shadow of his mother, the one who had run after his brother. The carefree Theo who had laughed at his brother and played a prank on him. The playful Theo who had run to his mother even knowing she was going to scold him.

The Theo before everything changed.

And I was glad he was showing me that Theo.  it made my heart at ease.

“I’m done.” He said, closing the book, again not telling me or showing me what he was working on, but it was okay because I knew he would open up soon.

We were taking steps towards each other and his progress had been excellent for so long.

I lifted myself gently to let him sit beside me, and the first thing he did was pull me in for a kiss. I smiled against his lips, but he pulled off too soon.

Just because of Rayan’s words, he has been too careful with me. Way too careful.

He placed his hands on my stomach as if he could feel our baby. Well he couldn't, I was too soon for him to feel anything but Theo never cared.

“How do you feel?” He asked, his voice raspy, and god I wanted to kiss him more.

“Do you feel  pain in your body?” He asked, his eyes focused on me, and I couldn't help but burst out into laughter. He looked at me confused.

“It isn't funny, Selena.” He said, his Mexican accent following through.

“It isn't.” I shook my head, trying to contain my laughter.

I pushed closer and held his face. “You never told me you were interested in being a doctor,” I said looking at all his facial features.

My handsome lover.

The thoughts warmed my heart as I stared at his enticing green eyes.

He held my hands on his face and took them off gently, then he placed them on my thighs, his large hands covering mine and touching my thighs, and lord I felt my body heating up.

But I knew not to make advances because it would be rejected. He was hell-bent on following the guidelines given.

“I’m not interested in being a doctor.” He said, confusion still written all over his face. “But tell me, do you feel sick?” He continued to ask and this time, I bit down my lower lip, stopping myself from laughing.

“No, I feel incredible, maybe because I’m looking at you.” I teased, and his face flushed up, his ears turning red.

I found out complimenting Theo makes him shy, though he never showed he was.

When complimented, he tries to avoid looking at me, should I say he comes cute and a little awkward.  And I was so in love with that.

“That’s good.”  He stood up, just like I expected, but this time, he stretched his hands to me.

“I will prepare something while you wash up.” He escorted me to the bathroom. “Can you do that?” He asked, his gaze seriously concerned.

I smiled, “I can. I’m just four months pregnant, not eight. If you let me do everything, I'm sure I can walk around that perfectly well.” I dismissed his concern.

“I won't let you do that.” He declared just like always, and I knew not to argue further, so I nodded.

The smell of a sweet breakfast filled the kitchen as I stepped inside.

I couldn't help but smile at the view in front of me.

Theo held a book, murmured, and then brought the book down to look at what he had on the table.

The book was one given by his team's obstetrician, she said all the food I needed was there and though I tried convincing Theo that we didn't have to follow everything, he wouldn't listen to me.

And he started learning to cook. For some reason, he won't let his cook stay with us, and a few times I had seen him watching videos of food.

It was amusing, and heartwarming.

“You are done?” He lifted his head as I came to stand in front of him.

“I prepared huevos rancheros. eat, I have to take you somewhere.”
