Chapter 18: Epilogue
Six months later, Michael asked Quinn to marry him, and she said yes. The wedding preparations started quickly, and he’d joked it was because he wanted to get married as soon as possible before she had the time to change her mind.
She’d moved in with him a week after that day at his mother’s house and Quinn couldn’t remember being happier in her entire life. Trish and Cassie had been over the roof with glee when they heard what happened though they expressed shock that she’d been the least likely to get married first of the three of them.
Michael had gone to see her brother to make known his intentions which Quinn thought was weird because it was the twenty-first century. He’d only said that Stephan had done it to him, and it was only right he awarded her brother the same respect.
Cindy was the best mother, always fawning over her especially since she was six months pregnant. She’d suggested they waited until after the baby was born before they got married so the stress of the wedding wouldn’t affect her, but Quinn assured her that she was fine. She wanted the baby to be born inside their marriage.
Stephan and Gemma were also expecting their second child; the atmosphere was filled with celebrations.
She’d resigned from being Michael’s secretary after moving in with him. It felt weird working for her boyfriend and there was no question that they were dating especially since Michael made it a note to kiss her at every turn. Quinn didn’t mind the stares and whispers. She’d even been compared to Delia in some situations, and she hadn’t let it bother her.
She had only resigned because Michael had set up a room for her to paint. After Cindy’s birthday party, she’d been requested to paint several of her friends, even celebrities. It really was a dream come through. It was something she enjoyed doing and she did it with all her heart. She was going to paint the hell out of their baby.
She’d even started painting his hologram.
Oh, it was a boy.
They exchanged vows a week later at the church her parents had gotten married. It was her way of remembering them on a special occasion like this. The church had been full to the brim. Hell, she didn’t even recognize half the people there.
All she’d seen was Michael. Her tyrant boss. Her husband-to-be. He’d worn the ring on her finger, promising to take care of her and be by her side forever. A few tears had fallen, and she’d burst out laughing twice. She’d done the same and the priest had pronounced them husband and wife.
She became Mrs. Quinn Rhett.
Love really was a force and life came in phases. One couldn’t just skip a phase to get to the next one. They were like chapters of a book, all connected. One had to go one before they could move on.
Michael had been unplanned. But he was the best thing that happened to her. she’d found purpose and joy being with him.
He looked at her on the altar, smiling as he kissed her. “Till the game do us part.”
She laughed heartily, kissing him back as the applause sounded cheerfully behind them. “Till the game do us part.”
