Chapter 73: Send My Love To Your New Lover Part 2
As soon as we finish setting the table, Debbie and Leonard walk in with more bags of food from the same restaurant.
"Did you agree to stop by the same restaurant?" I ask smiling and hugging my friend, who smiles sadly.
" Minnie texted where we should buy food. " Debbie says as I grab the bags and place them on the table.
"I'm going to call the guys to eat." Miranda says going into the room.
" Any news? " Leonard asks, hugging Debbie.
"Nothing, my friend, the detective called today and said it looks like he went missing with our Ella." I say as Miranda's voice rises.
"Damn, John, you can't stay like this, get up, pull yourself together, do you think Ella will like to see you like this when she gets back?" Debbie, Leonard and I go to the living room, where Ella's parents and Clint look at John sitting in the corner of the couch while Miranda yells at him. "Walk, cousin, please get up, let's go." Minnie's voice gets choked up as she starts crying pulling on her cousin's arm, John's shoulders start to sway, he's also crying.
"It doesn't, Minnie, I can't." My friend's voice is thick with crying, I hear Miranda and John's sobs. She drops to her knees and hugs him. "Minnie, I can't live without her here, I'm in hell without my Marilyn.
I feel the first tears come down as I look at that touching scene.
John
Two weeks, two days, fourteen hours and fifteen seconds, sixteen, seventeen...
I'm going totally crazy, degraded and ruined. Marilyn's kidnapping is killing me slowly, more and more, more and more. Today the day started cloudy like the others, like every day without Marilyn here. The day stayed that way until Miranda arrived with her daughter, Made was a perfect copy of my cousin, or rather, Made was a copy of my mother, with my eyes and my cousin's dark hair. The girl was born earlier than expected, Miranda did not cope well with everything that was happening and had a stress crisis, this made the baby arrive ahead of time.
In the last few weeks, everyone was at a high level of stress, I had already surpassed that level, I was already at rock bottom, plunged up to my neck in the mud.
" Cousin, the food is on the table, come eat a little. " Minnie speaks stopping in front of me. "I bought it at that Chinese restaurant we ate that day.
" I don't want to. " I speak in a low voice, my throat is dry and sore, it must be because of the large amount of alcohol I am drinking.
"John, you can't go without eating, you're going to end up dropping dead if you just drink." Minnie speaks in the harshest voice.
"Miranda, leave me alone, I don't want to eat any of this, leave me here. "I say without looking at my cousin, big shit I will turn, nor face my own family I can.
"Damn, John, you can't stay like this, get up, pull yourself together, do you think Ella will like to see you like this when she gets back?" " My cousin starts screaming. " Walk, cousin, please get up, let's go. "Miranda is crying, I know she is by the high-pitched tone of her voice, I feel tears fall down my face when I pluck up the courage to speak.
"It doesn't, Minnie, I can't." My voice is more serious and hoarse than usual, the fault is undoubtedly the drinking, the quiet time and the crying, I allow myself to cry in front of all those who have shown themselves to be my family. My cousin falls in front of me and hugs me. "Minnie, I can't live without her here, I'm in hell without my Marilyn.
"You have to fight, because she's going to come back, and you should be here for her, John." Miranda speaks against my chest, I squeeze her into our embrace, letting the tears roll and say what words can't. I cuddle up to her for a few minutes until the elevator whistles. I lift my head and see that everyone in the room is crying, Debbie and Leonard have arrived at some point, they're standing next to a downcast Tessa who tries to wipe away the tears.
A silence takes over the room until footsteps echo through the place and soon she is there. Like a ghost, the love of my life walks into the room in a vintage dress that farmers' wives would wear, his blonde hair is disheveled and his feet barefoot, I notice every detail before I have the strength to let out the next breath.
"Damn, love, I who am kidnapped and you who look like the hostage of a lunatic?" Marilyn says rubbing her eyes, looking at me with a lazy smile.
"The... the... Marilyn?... I... I... I give up on using words, drop Miranda, and before anyone can touch her, I get up and run across the room. I grab Marilyn as if she were my salvation.
"Damn, John, you're stinking." My love speaks, returning the hug. "But don't let go, don't let go of me ever again.
I heed her request, squeeze Marilyn as if she were the last oxygen molecule on Earth, as if she were my lifeline.
"You came back to me, you came back.
"Did you doubt I'd be back, papy? I can't live without you, not even in jest, you are my life. Marilyn cries, I cry, and in the middle of it, our lips stick together. A shock runs through my body and I, in that instant, am sure that without Marilyn, I am nothing.
