Chapter 267: Meeting Jean

Two months later.

Schools had finally closed, and Aaron was finally free to go and see his sisters. What troubled him was what Brad had told him. Ever since they started dating, he had never brought such a topic up. Aaron wondered what had suddenly gotten into Brad to suddenly ask him to accompany him home. As far as Aaron knew, Brad had a very strict upbringing. Even though the Hovstad family was wealthy and aristocratic, it still couldn't compare to Brad's family. Aaron had tried reason with Brad to no avail. He wondered what he would do to change his mind about the subject. He highly doubted that such a family would allow their son to be involved in same sex marriage. They definitely had cultivated him to inherit the family some day. His brother's main job was in the army. He was the major general and was only helping Brad manage the business while he studied. Aaron was sure no one would be in support of their relationship. Since he couldn't change Brad's mind, he decided to bite the bullet and go with him. When the car stopped at the grand entrance, Aaron couldn't help but tense up. Brad instantly knew what was going on in Aaron's mind and squeezed his hand gently.

"Relax. I'm here." Brad whispered.

Aaron nodded with a bitter smile. What else could he say?

As soon as they entered the compound, the maids lined up respectfully to welcome them. Aaron marveled at that. No one among the maids dared to raise their heads to look. He felt that they were so professional. All these thoughts disappeared as soon as they entered the mansion. Aaron was scared to go in, but he still marched forward. He was a man, and he couldn't run away from responsibility.

"Welcome home." Brad said as he ushered him in.

"Thank you." Aaron said and sat down.

He watched as Brad brought him a glass of water. He was thankful because he felt that only a glass of water could calm his inner turmoil down. Every second felt like torture. The person they were waiting for was Brad's brother, and Aaron wasn't sure how he'd be treated. He just hoped everything would be over soon. He also hoped it wouldn't escalate to something unbearable.

"Sorry to keep you waiting." While Aaron was daydreaming, a voice brought him back to reality.

"Brother." Brad called out to the guy.

Aaron turned to look at the guy who looked exactly like Brad, but slightly a few years older than Brad. Coupled with Brad's address, it wasn't hard for him to figure it out.

"Nice to meet you, Aaron. Shall we have lunch first?" Jean, Brad's brother, suddenly said. He had already introduced himself, so he didn't feel overly unfamiliar with him.

The lunch was peaceful. Brad did the usual. He would scoop food for Aaron from time to time. Jean looked at the interaction between his brother and Aaron and sighed inwardly. Things were becoming more complicated than he'd ever imagined. He patiently wanted until they all were done having their lunch before breaking the silence. After wiping the corners of his lips with a serviette, he cleared his throat;

"Brad, can we meet in the study for a bit?" After saying this, Jean didn't wait to hear what Brad would say and walked towards the study room. Aaron could swear he felt Brad tense a bit. He suddenly felt his heart sink.
