Chapter 119: Chapter 119
Harry
And when I turned towards the stairway, I saw her climbing down the stairs looking refreshed.
She was ready to pick the boys up and I wanted to run to meet her when my phone rang again.
I had to pause and brought out the phone while looking at Freya who walked pass me.
It's Rosie again.
"I know it's her, she needs you now, don't worry, I'd handle the kids"
I nodded as I watched her fade out of sight before responding to the call.
"You didn't call back!"
"What?"
"See, I told you I have been replaced. What if it was something urgent?"
"Damien is there" i replied getting annoyed because thanks to her, I couldn't tag along with Freya.
"Oh please. You like bringing him up as an excuse, he has his role to play in my life and you too"
"Rosie, stop being dramatic it's getting on my nerves" I calmly said breathing hard as I just didn't even know how to handle this situation.
I want to forget about her but she just isn't giving me the space too.
"Are you shouting at me Harry? This isn't you. Am I speaking with harry?"
"I didn't. No way but I think your hormones are kicking"
"What? Me?"
"If you miss me you can drive down to say hi" I whispered switching the topic and her silence only proves that she was too stunned to pick.
"I'm terminating the call and I expect you to call back immediately"
"Rosie!"
The call ended again and I growled. She's so...
I'm not calling back!
"Hello Rosie"
I called back. This time around it was a video call.
She grinned at me like the devil who just knew how to trap its prey.
"That's a relief, you haven't abandoned me. So quick, the guides"
I closed my eyes and threw my head up trying to keep up to her tantrums.
Does she treat Damien this way?
I guided her through like an expert and the call ended when she stopped riding the bike and took pictures of it.
And chosing this day off work, I decided to order the boys favorite when they come home.
While doing just that and patiently waiting for the boys, I suddenly felt my tattoo glow.
That was strange because it felt like someone was calling out to me.
I closed my eyes, trying to connect to the strange feeling and I could suddenly see Damien...running and gasping for air.
Shit! He's in danger.
What has he done now and how the fuck could he connect to me? He's a creep!
I left the gifts I was wrapping for the boys at the sitting, rushed to my room to grab a coat, I hurried out to leave immediately by teleporting to his location.
Back then in the woods, during that saga, when he had made me leave to avoid the red moon, I realized I was in control and the monster in me just vanished away.
That's another phenomenal that I'm yet to discover. Maybe he's the only one that can calm my wolf but damn it! Why does it have to be a man?
I mean, most tales and books always has it that their fated mate holds the key to keeping them in control but my case is different.
And it's no other than my rival and the very person destined to kill me and now, I'm going to save him.
I don't think the moon goddess likes me.
I arrived inside the cave only to encounter a fog of dust, an overwhelming heat and broken stones.
What just happened? A blast?
"Damien!!!" I called trying to feel him and to sense life in here.
There was no response and I was panting hard, terrified and worried.
"Damien!!" I loudly screamed panicking as I tried to run through the fragments of the cave if I'd find him.
I flew through the wreckage, my heart racing with fear.
The cave was a death trap, a ticking time bomb of rubble and flames. I had to find Damien. I had to save him.
My superhuman speed and agility allowed me to dodge falling rocks and debris, but my mind was a jumble of panic and worry.
What if I was too late? What if...
No. No. No.
I pushed the thoughts aside and focused on scanning the area. Where was he? Where was Damien?
And then, I saw him.
Or, rather, I saw the rubble that was burying him.
Damien was pinned beneath a massive slab of concrete, his body twisted at an unnatural angle.
I could see the faint rise and fall of his chest, but he was trapped, pinned down like an insect in a specimen jar.
My heart sank, and for a moment, I was frozen in terror. This was it. This was the end.
But then, my training kicked in. I snapped into action, my fear giving way to a cold, calculating determination.
I reached Damien's side in an instant, my hands moving with superhuman speed as I began to clear the rubble.
The concrete was like paper in my hands, crumbling away as I tore it apart.
But it was slow, too slow. The flames were spreading and the heat build up with the air toxic with fumes.
I gunted with effort, my muscles straining as I lifted the slab of concrete, my superhuman strength allowing me to move it aside.
Damien's body slumped free, and I caught him in my arms, pulling him away from the wreckage.
He was unconscious, his face smeared with dust and blood. I could feel his pulse, weak but steady, and I knew he was alive.
For a moment, I just held him, relief washing over me like a wave. I had him. I had him.
And then, I turned and ran, the cave collapsing behind me as I burst into the bright sunlight, carrying Damien's unconscious form in my arms.
Damien's body was heavy in my arms, his face pale and drawn.
As I laid him down on the ground, he stirred, his eyes spur open.
"Harry..." he whispered, his voice barely audible.
"I'm here, Damien," I said, trying to reassure him. "You're going to be okay."
But Damien's expression was urgent, his eyes wild with concern. "Austin... he's still inside," he rasped, his voice growing weaker. "You have to save him, Harry."
My heart sank. Austin was still trapped?
Do I need to save the villain too?
I don't think so.
I glanced back at the cave and that looks like a death trap.
"No, Damien, you need-"
But Damien's grip on my arm was surprisingly strong, his eyes burning with a fierce intensity. "Save him, Harry. Please."
