Chapter 254
Underground parking garage.
Isabella's hysterical screams kept echoing.
Sitting in the car, Stella felt chills run down her spine hearing those sounds. To be honest, as a woman herself, she didn't want to punish another woman this way.
But she couldn't worry about that now.
After all, if it weren't for Evelyn's good luck, she would have already lost her life.
Outside the car, the screaming continued.
Matthew came over and held Stella in his arms, covering her ears with his hands, "How about I handle things here and take you home?"
Honestly, he didn't want Stella to go through all this—it was all too dark.
What's more, she was pregnant, and he was worried about the baby hearing it too.
Stella was firm, "I need to make Isabella pay. In a bit, once this is over, I'm going to ask her what exactly she was trying to do."
Time passed slowly.
Soon the sounds outside gradually stopped.
When Stella got out of the car, she saw Isabella covered in marks and bruises.
She no longer looked glamorous and polished like before. Instead, she was curled up in a corner, covered in injuries.
Seeing Stella, Isabella's face darkened and she tried to lunge at her.
The next moment, she was kicked to the ground.
Stella walked closer step by step, "What do you have to feel wronged about? If it weren't for you, none of this would have happened. Just because of your jealousy, you almost killed my friend. Everything you're going through now is what you deserve."
Honestly, seeing a woman in this state made her very uncomfortable, but thinking about how Evelyn had barely survived made her feel indifferent again.
After all, everyone has to pay for what they do.
Isabella was no exception.
Isabella's eyes were bloodshot, "You bitch, how dare you torture me like this! William won't let you get away with this. I saved William's life—when he finds out about this, he'll definitely come rescue me. He won't let any of you go."
"After everything that's happened, you think William will still help you? Stop dreaming. Right now William's completely focused on getting back together with Evelyn. To him, you're useless, and worse, you're a burden."
After everything that had happened, Stella realized William had indeed changed, and he had sworn not to have any more illusions about Isabella.
So even if William knew about this, he would only approve, not help Isabella.
Isabella couldn't believe it, "You're lying! This isn't true, it can't be true. William has feelings for me, he'll definitely help me. Shut up! I need to contact him and have him come save me."
Even now, Isabella still believed her place in William's heart was unique and irreplaceable.
Stella was determined to shatter all her illusions and made the call directly.
Soon the call connected.
William's hoarse voice came through, "What's going on? Do you need help at the hospital?"
Before Stella could speak, Isabella's voice rang out.
"William, come save me! I've been captured by Stella and Matthew. Come quickly, or I'm going to die! Don't forget I saved your life. Come save me now!"
Her voice echoed through the empty parking garage.
The person on the other end was clearly silent for a while.
Then William's ice-cold voice came through.
"You shameless woman, you want me to save you? If it weren't for you, how would things have gotten this bad? How dare you hurt the woman I love most!"
"I warned you more than once not to touch my woman. Did you not listen to a single word? You just wait—I will never let you off. Everything you're going through is exactly what you deserve."
William hung up directly.
Isabella panicked, "No, how can this be? Why would William treat me like this? He can't do this to me—I saved his life!"
All these years she'd been able to act arrogantly and hurt people without consequence because William had her back. But now William wasn't going to help her anymore.
Without William, there was no one left in the world who could save her.
Isabella fell into deep despair.
Stella walked over and laughed coldly, "This is your payback. You thought your relationship with William was special, so you could do whatever you wanted without caring if others lived or died. Well now, let's see how it feels to be abandoned. Don't worry—your suffering has only just begun."
With that, Stella had Isabella sent to the police station.
Of course, this was just the beginning. Once Isabella was locked up in that place, which was the most torturous of all, spending just a little money could make Isabella's every day a living hell.
With Isabella arrested, the matter was resolved.
But Stella's heart still felt empty, worrying about Evelyn's condition every day.
In the following days, Stella was incredibly busy, shuttling between the hospital and home every day.
Fortunately, under the care of specialists, Theo's health finally recovered and he was discharged.
But who could have imagined that the day Theo left the hospital would be the day Stella gave birth.
Early in the morning, Stella brought Theo home, originally planning to hold a small celebration party. But just minutes after getting home, Stella suddenly felt abdominal pain.
Then her water broke.
Everyone panicked.
Matthew reacted quickly, scooping Stella into his arms and carrying her straight to the car.
An hour later, Stella looked at the baby she'd given birth to—all wrinkled and scrunched up—with complete disgust on her face.
"Take it away quickly! This baby is definitely not mine. Honey, go find someone to get our real baby back. Someone switched our baby—someone must be trying to pull off a switched-at-birth scheme to get rich."
Having barely survived childbirth, Stella wouldn't allow any accidents, and especially wouldn't allow anyone to switch her baby.
Matthew looked helpless.
From delivery until now, he'd been right there the whole time. Plus, there were so many medical staff around, and bodyguards at the door—there was no chance for anyone to switch babies.
This was their child.
"She is kind of ugly though."
Without realizing it, Matthew said what he was thinking out loud.
