Chapter 239
Night fell.
Throughout the journey, Stella looked out the car window, her feelings mixed.
Deep down, she wanted to bring Evelyn back and take care of her herself. After all, since William and Evelyn were already divorced, they should keep their distance.
Why should a woman forgive just because a man wants to make amends?
Stella suddenly turned around and pinched Matthew's waist hard, "Tell me the truth, do you think Raina is more important in your heart?"
As soon as the words left her mouth, she immediately regretted it.
Since the two of them had already agreed to divorce in a few years, she shouldn't be asking these questions.
What's more, Matthew had already promised not to see that Raina again easily.
But once certain words are spoken, you desperately want an answer.
Stella lowered her head, quietly waiting for Matthew's response.
Time passed second by second. After what seemed like forever, the car suddenly stopped.
Then Matthew's hoarse voice sounded, "Do we really have to talk about this? I've already told you that before we get divorced, I'll respect both of us and our marriage. I won't let you down, and I won't let the child down. Isn't that enough?"
Stella felt heavy inside, disappointment spreading through her heart.
Was Matthew still not giving up? Did he still want to rekindle things with that Raina?
Thinking this, Stella gave a muffled response, then turned her gaze to the window.
The whole way back, even though they were sitting in the same car, neither of them said another word.
Back home, Stella pushed open the door and smelled a rich aroma.
Mia and Aiden were sitting at the dining table waiting. Seeing them return, Mia walked over warmly, "Stella, you're finally back! Are you hungry? I had them prepare lots of delicious food. Go wash your hands and let's eat."
The table was filled with delicious dishes, perfect in color, aroma, and taste.
After washing her hands, Stella sat down at the table. As soon as she sat down, Mia said with a smile, "You're about to give birth soon. Shouldn't we arrange a meeting with your grandfather? That way we can discuss some details."
Theo was famous in their circle as a great philanthropist. Over the years, he had spent countless amounts on charity.
Mia and Aiden were relatively junior, so they hadn't met Theo before.
They wanted to meet him and discuss the specific details of the wedding.
Stella's eyes lit up, "That sounds good, but I need to go back and ask about Grandpa's schedule."
Though she said this, she knew in her heart that Theo had already stepped back from everything these days, handing all matters over to others while staying home to enjoy his retirement.
She said it this way out of respect for Theo.
Mia nodded repeatedly, "Of course, that's fine. I've also looked at the things you brought back last time and prepared some gifts in return. We can't let you be shortchanged."
In their circle, marriages between wealthy families were exchanges of interests, but in Mia's view, Stella and Matthew were in love, so everything should be prepared properly to show their sincerity.
Aiden thought for a moment, took out a document envelope, and handed it to Matthew, "You've grown up and can handle things on your own now. I was planning to give you these things when you got married anyway. When you have time, take them to the lawyer to transfer the names."
Matthew was quite surprised, "You're giving me these so early?"
After all, Hayden had only given Aiden his assets at the very last moment.
In Hayden's view, these things couldn't be handed over easily until the final moment.
Aiden nodded, "These things will be yours sooner or later anyway. It's fine to give them now. After you two get married, we're planning to stay home with the kids and take them around to different places."
Since taking over the company, he hadn't cared about company matters at all, having handed all the business over to Matthew very early on.
In his view, it was best not to manage company affairs at all.
He could put all his energy into being loving with Mia.
Stella watched this father-son interaction, quite shocked.
In other families, people fought tooth and nail over shares and power, but this father and son were completely different—actually volunteering to hand things over.
Matthew put away the document envelope, "Don't worry, I'll go change the names right away. But are you really sure about this? No regrets."
What was in the envelope didn't just represent assets, it represented power even more.
Aiden rolled his eyes, "Alright, stop talking nonsense. From now on, we'll just enjoy ourselves, and you can handle all the hard work."
After dinner, with nothing else to do, Stella went directly to the residence where Theo lived.
Seeing Stella arrive, Theo was overjoyed and quickly went to greet her, "When are you due? Has the Moore family arranged a delivery room or anything? I'm planning to arrange one for you. What do you think?"
With nothing else to do, Theo had already arranged everything, just waiting for Stella to give birth.
But since Stella was married after all, some things still needed to be discussed with the groom's family.
Sitting on the sofa, Stella replied, "That's actually why I came. Mom and Dad said they want to meet with you to talk about the specifics. What do you think? When would be convenient?"
Theo slapped his thigh excitedly, "Of course, the sooner the better! The baby in your belly is about to be born. If we wait any longer, it'll be too late."
Theo didn't care how much the other side's gifts were worth, but he cared about the thought behind them.
In wealthy family marriages, many people didn't care about getting a marriage certificate, but cared more about the wedding ceremony.
The wedding represented the groom's family's regard for the bride.
Theo had long been prepared for this. With one look, Jace brought out some detailed wedding plans.
He had even made a contract.
Stella was dumbfounded, "Grandpa, isn't this a bit much?"
"Of course not! You're my precious granddaughter. When my granddaughter gets married, whatever Grandpa prepares isn't too much. Take a quick look and see if there's anything you want to add."
