Chapter 74: The Unforgiving Luna

I stabbed her arm and withdrew the knife quickly to stab her other arm before she could react.

Blood splashed on my face as she held both arms and fell to her knees.

She whimpered in pain as her wolf began to heal her quickly. The process was very fast and I figured these people weren't normal werewolves. I needed to do more but I couldn't kill anyone.

I wanted to kill her just now with a stab to her neck but I changed my mind at the last moment. I couldn't do it.

"Stay back!" I warned with a growl, letting my canines out as I flayed two knives in front of me.

As if in sync, the other three maids change their positions to surround me from either side and I stuck to the wall with Ryan and moved when they did.

I wasn't going to give them that chance. I already thought about this many times. There was no way to escape without turning things bloody.

"They're strong. Trained" Ryan whispered from behind me.

"I know"

We were both breathing heavily as we faced them. The air was getting thicker with each passing second until I heard a low snarl.

Very quick one of them transformed into a dirty brown wolf. Huge and furry yet ugly. The others followed, each one bigger than the last.

My heart dropped. I really wasn't going to fight these things am I?

"Let's run!" Ryan was shaking behind me.

"No. There's no where to run to. They'll make sure we never leave this place. Alive at least"

They were very determined to make sure I didn't escape this place today.

"Get her!!" The head maid shouted from the floor and their snarls grew louder as one of them lunged forward, her claws extended in a deadly arc.

"Hide under the table, now!"

"No. I'll fight with you, Hazel. I'll protect y--y canou" as he said this, it was as if he had just realized something.

Ryan understood they could easily use him to make me surrender. He grabbed one of the knives I had taken and go hide himself while I shifted to avoid the oncoming attack.

'This is crazy!' Kira said when I called out to her but of course she didn't waste another moment before letting me transform.

I was a smaller version of the huge things in front of me but I could also use that to my advantage.

A snarl left me as i bared my canines at them, growling intensely as they closed in on me.

I stretched my claws, my eyes searching for a better target and I found one which I quickly lunged towards, aiming for it's neck. It tried to dodge but I changed my direction at the last moment and attacked the one next to it, taking her off guard.

My claws pierced deeply into it's eyes and I scratched it's neck before falling back and hitting my back on the hard floor.

Blood gushed out and stained everywhere but I was running out of time. They should've mindlinked Grayson by now and he would be on his way back immediately.

I can't let him meet me here because I wasn't sure if I could take him on.

Seeing one of them down, the others weren't having it. Their eyes gleamed with feral intensity as they closed in on me. Fangs bared and muscles coiled with lethal intent as they attacked me as a group.

I twisted my body with lightening speed, evading the powerful jaws that snapped at my throat, aiming for a bite and also the other one who tried to use her claws to hold me down.

I was out of their circle in a second and I almost smiled, proud of myself until my eyes caught the head maid who was still trying to heal her arms so she could use them.

She was sneakily crawling towards where Ryan hid. I couldn't stop her. It would be too late to.

A primal, feral Instinct awakened within me and with a loud snarl, I charged forward, towards the head maid but the other maids in wolf form were quick to block my way.

I could feel a surge of adrenaline and power bursting through me. My claws grew even longer and then my ears and my body. I didn't know what was happening.

I had grown a bit bigger and I wasn't sure if there was a strange glow in my eyes but the look on the she-wolves faces confused me.

I could smell their fear as they began to step back slowly. I knew they weren't about to let me go anyway.

"Kill her if you must. It doesn't matter" the head maid called out and the confidence in their eyes returned again as they gave a nod and a glance at each other before stepping in front of me again.

"Hurt a single strand of her hair and you'll die!"

That voice....

My whole body froze as I released a shaky breath. Footsteps followed. I could hear them getting closer and closer to me and then finally, it stopped just behind me.

His breath fell on my fur skin as he knelt next to me and rubbed my furry back, whispering in my ears "I thought you were going to be a good girl, Hazel?"

'That nasty jerk. How dare he touch me?!' Kira was mad but I had to keep her in control.

'Careful. He's an Alpha. He can make us do things we don't want to. He can definitely stoop that low'

"Be a good girl again, Hazel. Change and come with me, okay?" He held my face his hands "Your wolf looks so beautiful. I'd didn't expect anything less" a psychotic smile was plastered on his face. One that gave me goosebumps.

I could attack him quicker from here.

"I know what you're thinking Hazel. But the moment you do that. I'll kill your little brother and you'll be the one to blame for that. Just like you killed your parents"

"I didn't kill them!!!" I said Internally, but somehow it was as if he could hear my internal thoughts.

"Oh, yes you did Hazel. If only they hadn't tried to protect you. I asked your father nicely to hand you over but what did he do? He went to the King, thinking the King could save you and when he found out the King was in on it, he tried to elope with you in the middle of the night. I couldn't just let that happen now could I?"

"Dad knew...?" I whispered as I tried to recall that night.

If there was anything I was sure about was that, I was asleep when everything happened and then a group of Royal guards started to look everywhere for me.

Dad never talked about moving or escaping. That night had been normal like every other night before going to bed and a few hours later, it had become my worst nightmare.

That was all I remembered.

"So you make a decision. Only one of you can survive. Surrender and I'll let him go or... you both die" his eyes gleamed wickedly as he rubbed my fur once again.

Out of the corner of my eyes, I saw Ryan crawling out of the cupboard. I didn't know what happened to the head maid but she was now quiet.

I quickly averted my gaze in order not to draw Grayson's attention to him. I couldn't talk physically but he could read my expressions.

Before I could say anything, Ryan had stabbed Grayson In the back. Blood poured out and he stepped back, shocked as if he hadn't meant to.

I swallowed hard, seeing Grayson bleed. It was satisfying but that was not enough to bring him down.

A calculating cunningness filled my eyes, gleaming with an unsettling intensity as I raised my claws and buried them in his chest very quickly, without giving him any chance to react.

His eyes popped wide open as if he had never expected it.

"Hazel" he called.
