Chapter 54

JAX

For the next few months, I stepped up to help her out of this hole but quite frankly she seemed detached. She would do what she had to and not because she wanted to, but part of Ryleigh had just given up on the world. I am sure if her kids weren’t here, she would probably off herself and that thought scared me. But it was time for her to start fighting. I busted into her room at 4 in the morning. She jumped up, nearly falling off the bed.

“Son of a bitch Jax, what’s going on?” She rubbed her eyes and slowly stood up.

“Go get changed in some workout gear.” She looked a little lost and just stared at me.

“He wasn’t hesitating, Ry.” Alizac chimed in. We waited for her and she slowly made her way to the closet but looked at us confused. She came out and stood in front of us. Alyssa started crying.

“You woke my daughter up now.” She tried to walk but I stopped her.

“I got him.” Her mother walked in and picked her up and walked out.

“Can you explain what’s going on?” She asked. But I shook my head, grabbed her hand, and dragged her outside.

“Fight stance!” A voice that shocked her came over. It was her father.

“Ryleigh, I said get into a fight stance now.” Something triggered.

“You are going to get your anger out; you can’t keep hiding out and keeping everything in.”

She stood in front of me and just stared blankly while she got into a sloppy position. He came over to her and fixed her up.

“Hit him,” she said while looking at me.

“I am not going to hit him. I know what you all want but I lost a lot and I have a right to grieve my own way.” She tried to walk away but I caught her again.

“If we are going to get back at the ones who killed you mate and pack. Not to mention you had a miscarriage and it’s the stress they caused. You’re going to hit me.” I demanded which just made her angrier.

“You don’t have a right to tell me how I heal. And if I hit you it’s because you’re pissing me off.” She went on.

“Who’s to say they won’t come back for your kids next time.” Her body had tensed up.

“You told us to hide everything until it was over. You need to buck up and work. Then you can cry about it later even though you had complained enough!” I yelled.

Her hand came out of nowhere as it connected with my cheek. She snapped. She started swinging and ducking while I returned some of those shots. I nodded towards Alizac which signaled him to come in. He grabbed her shoulder and went for a swing which she blocked. Abel’s wolf came at her, knocking her to her back.

“Is this what we’re all doing is teaming up on me?” She complained.

“Get up, Ryleigh and fight!” Her father screamed.

And she did. She kept going until we were all out of breath. She stood there breathing hard with sweat dripping down her head and her hands on her thighs. She started sobbing and I knew that this would be her breaking point. She lifted her head up and let out the howl of sorrow. Confirming her pack is gone. Letting everyone know finally like it’s a time of death. She had the growl of a Luna, but she was no longer one and that was her wolf letting go. She was ready.

“We are invading the human world. They killed off our wolves, our people and we should show no mercy. This is our world, and we will no longer be divided. But the innocent should not be touched!” she screamed.

She began taking her clothes off to shift. Alizac had gotten on the phone to inform each pack and other creature it was time for a revolution. She was the type of woman we all needed. No more planning because things never go as planned.

By 10 am the area was surrounded by thousands of wolves. Alizac was in front of them as their King.

“We’ve had multiple packs taken out. We are going headfirst. Luna Ryleigh has made it clear we protect the innocent. We are taking back what’s ours so show no mercy to those with a teardrop. I will lead us. We stay in our wolves at all times because that’s when we are the most powerful. We set aside all of our hurt feelings and grudges because we are one.”

Cheers and howling echoed. One by one we all shifted. Alizac stood next to Ryleigh who hesitated but finally got onboard fully. She shifted into her wolf and Alizac followed alongside her. And just like that, we started our journey to the human lands. Not all of us were going to survive but we didn’t care at this point. They won the last time and this time they will see a thing or two when we don’t hold back and don’t show mercy. Humans think we have to wait until it gets dark but that’s where they are wrong. We come in broad daylight. We got to the first area and were surrounded everywhere. Alarms were set off as we made contact with the army outside of the area. Alizac had shifted.

“We are asking for the heads of those who have harmed our kind. If you fail to do so we have no choice but to take it for ourselves,” he said.

I stood in front of him just in case they tried anything. I was his Beta. It was my job. Protect our king at all costs. Ryleigh joined next to me.

“We don’t make deals with animals. We took you out once and we will do it again.”

No one was backing down.
