Chapter 173 Don't call me Alpha...ugh
Emerald’s POV-
After he kissed me, Spinel pulled me tight to his chest, my head resting on his chest. His cool body and touch grounding me, bringing me back to him.
“I don’t do well with emotions. I spent a lot of time closing myself off and compartmentalizing my life.”
Spinel laughed, “Oh, My Love, that doesn’t need to be explained, that was made perfectly clear when your family situation came to light.” Spinel responded, kissing the top of my head.
“I should’ve held you, when I came into the living room, last night.”
Spinel kissed the top of my head again, “Not necessary. Jet was there for me, and I can’t say I would’ve accepted that from you at that moment. A big part of me was okay with you going back to Axinite. I knew you weren’t running away from us, I knew you needed the space to process. Part of me did too, but then once you walked out of the room, the gravity of the situation loomed over me, I could feel your fear and sadness. I knew without a doubt you had to stay, that I wanted you to stay. Plus, Andrew wouldn’t shut up.”
Now, it was my turn to laugh. “He’s a lot. This whole thing is a lot. Relationship by committee is exhausting.”
“Yea. I knew once you found out you were mated to Jet and I it was going to change the dynamic in the relationship between me and Jet. To be expected, right? But you…you little wild card, had to go and make this a group affair to the highest extent possible. I think some type of relationship counseling when we return to Axinite will be good for you, me and Jet. How are you doing with all this? Don’t give me the standard answer. I’m not going to get in your head.”
I tilted my head up, my eyes meeting his. “It’s a lot, Spin. I can’t really describe it in any other way. It’s amazing. I absolutely love the feeling of all of you being my forever. I’m mad at myself for letting four months go by and not nurturing these relationships. The other part of that equation is I’m not so mad that I left because my leaving made the bonds between me and the others stronger. I’m torn by those feelings.”
“Don’t be, My Love. I think with how strong the bonds were in the beginning when you were classified as “just a breeder” we would’ve ended up here anyway. I know a lot changed in the hospital, after you’d been shot. I know it was because you drank from me and you could feel what I felt through the bond via my blood. I know that you wanted more time to work through your thoughts, but drinking from me, didn’t afford you that.”
“Why?”
“Simple, the realest part of any being is their blood. Our blood holds everything that makes us, us. You drank mine, you felt everything I felt since the day Jet and I realized you were ours. You lost a lot of your own blood that evening, and it was replaced by mine.”
“That’s why when I bit you…”
“Yep. When you bit me, you co-mingled more of our blood. We became what we are, bonded on a cellular level, two as a whole. Baby, for the record, I wouldn’t have it any other way. You are a part of me, not just bonded to me by the Moon Goddess. We will get through whatever roadblocks, stumbles, bumps, and struggles that get in our way.”
Spinel kissed me on the forehead this time, “Now, are you just a dirty slut for Andrew, or can you be mine too?”
I felt my face get hot and red; I smacked Spinel’s chest. “You were listening?”
Spinel laughed, “Hard not to. Neither of you were being quiet, this place doesn’t have soundproof walls like the penthouse, packhouse, or mother-in-law suite. Don’t call me Alpha, though. I did really like the Daddy thing you tried out the other day.”
“You’re impossible.” I smiled, completely embarrassed.
“Let’s get up and go get some breakfast. We’ve got a flight to catch.”
Spinel and I got out of bed. I went to the bathroom and brushed my teeth and hair, threw my hair up in a messy bun, washed my face and hands, put on some deodorant and went to the living room. The others were there, ready to get going. Spinel grabbed me and pulled me to him.
Jet watched us, “You two good?”
Both Spinel and I nodded our heads. “She wants to do some marriage counseling, and I agree. I think it will be good for all of us.”
“All of us?” Andrew questioned.
“I think she meant just the three of us, didn’t you, My Love?”
I nodded my head, “I think the three of us have to work through a few things and a professional will help.”
“I mean, I’m good if you need everyone to go, Kitten. I’m not opposed to it, and I can say for sure the others won’t be either. This only works the right way if all of us are in a good space. There are a LOT of large personalities in this relationship.”
I laughed, “You’re not wrong. To be completely transparent, I want Spinel and I to go first. I’m not excluding you, Jet. I think Spinel and I are having a harder time moving forward.”
Jet sighed, and smiled, “I agree. You two, do what you need to do. Emey, you and I have talked at length about things, and I think we are in a pretty good place. I need you and Spinel to be alright. I think last night, even though it was hard to witness, needed to happen. Both of you have a habit of pushing your feelings down until they consume you, it’s not healthy. I don’t care who the two of you talk to, just get right between you two. As soon as that happens, other things will fall in line.”
Spinel held me tighter and kissed the top of my head again.
“Thank you.” I said into the room.
“Breakfast and an airplane ride?” Andrew asked, as he grabbed a few of the bags to load into the awaiting SUV.
I smiled, and squeezed Spinel, “Sounds good to me.”
“Me too, My Love, me too.” Spinel said as he quickly scooped me up and threw me over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes.
I squealed at the sudden action. Jet, Andrew and Spinel laughed as we walked out of the weekend rental and piled into the SUV. I needed some breakfast, I was starving, and for the first time since I returned home, I felt lighter. I hated seeing Spinel break down and cry, that shit hurt my soul, but it brought about the beginnings of a much-needed conversation. Knowing this man, who dealt with million-dollar business deals, was accepting of us going to counseling filled me with hope, pride, and joy. Not just for him, but for us, for me.
“Thank you.” I whispered.
“Anything for you. Always.”
