Chapter 28 Accept the reality?
LOKI'S POV
As I returned to my room, the weight of guilt and regret still heavy on my shoulders, I longed for solitude. I needed time to process my emotions, to come to terms with the pain I had caused Erica. But as I entered my room, I was met with an unexpected sight.
Frances, stood in the center of the room, her eyes filled with a mix of concern and something else. Something that made my heart sink. She took a step towards me, a seductive smile playing on her lips.
"Loki," she purred, her voice dripping with desire. "I couldn't help but notice how troubled you are. Let me ease your pain."
But I couldn't bear the thought of being intimate with anyone other than Erica. My heart belonged to her, even if I had pushed her away. I pushed Frances away, my voice filled with a mix of anger and desperation.
"No, Frances," I said firmly, my voice trembling with emotion. "I cannot be with you. My heart belongs to another, and I will not betray her."
Frances looked hurt, her eyes filling with tears. "But Loki, I love you. I can make you forget about her."
I shook my head, my resolve strengthening. "No, Frances. I will not forget about Erica. She is the one who truly understands me, who sees past the facade I have created. I cannot be with anyone else."
With those words, I turned away from Frances, leaving her standing alone in the room. I knew that I had hurt her, but I couldn't let my own desires cloud my judgment. I needed to stay true to my heart, even if it meant being alone.
As I lay in bed, trying to find solace in sleep, I couldn't escape the pull I felt towards Erica. It was as if an invisible thread connected us, tugging at my heart and soul. But I waved it off, convincing myself that it was just a figment of my imagination.
But as I drifted into a restless sleep, my dreams took hold of me. In my dream, I found myself standing in a vast, empty space. And then, Erica appeared before me, her eyes filled with a mix of sadness and determination.
"Loki," she said softly, her voice echoing in the void. "We are mates, destined to be together. Why did you push me away?"
I tried to speak, to explain myself, but no words came out. The guilt and regret weighed heavily on my chest, making it difficult to breathe. Erica's presence only intensified the pain I felt.
"I loved you, Loki," she continued, her voice filled with longing. "But you chose to deny our connection, to deny yourself the love that was meant for you. Why?"
Tears welled up in my eyes as I reached out to touch her, but she disappeared before my eyes. I was left alone in the empty space, the silence deafening.
I woke up in a cold sweat, my heart pounding in my chest. The dream had felt so real, so vivid. It was a painful reminder of the love I had lost, the love I had denied myself.
As I lay in bed, the weight of my actions crashing down on me, I couldn't help but feel a renewed sense of determination. I couldn't continue to deny my feelings for Erica, to deny the love that was meant for us.
I had to find her, to apologize for my actions, and to fight for the love that we both deserved. No matter the obstacles that lay ahead, I would not let fear and self-doubt hold me back any longer.
With a newfound resolve, I rose from bed and made my way out of my room. It was time to face the truth, to confront my own demons, and to fight for the love that had always been within my grasp.
With a renewed sense of determination, I rushed towards Erica's chambers, my heart filled with anticipation. But as I entered the room, a sinking feeling washed over me. It was empty. Erica was nowhere to be found.
I searched every corner of the castle, desperately hoping to catch a glimpse of her. But she remained elusive, like a ghost slipping through my fingers. Eventually, I found myself in the garden, hidden among the shadows, watching Erica and Ronald from afar.
They were laughing together, sharing a moment that seemed so intimate and carefree. It felt like a knife to my heart, as if all the love and longing I had for Erica was being tossed aside. Anger and bitterness surged through me as I observed their interaction.
I wanted to confront Erica, to demand an explanation for why she had chosen Ronald over me. But a part of me held back, afraid of what I might hear. Instead, I chose to silently observe, tormenting myself with every smile and laugh they shared.
As I watched them, a sense of despair washed over me. It seemed that Erica was genuinely happy with Ronald, and my presence in her life was no longer needed or desired. The realization crushed me, leaving me feeling insignificant and alone.
But deep down, I knew that I couldn't keep tormenting myself like this. I couldn't continue to watch Erica from afar, wallowing in my bitterness and self-pity. If I truly loved her, I needed to let go and allow her to find her own happiness, even if it wasn't with me.
With a heavy heart, I turned away from the garden, tears welling up in my eyes. It was time for me to accept the reality of the situation and move on. I couldn't force Erica to love me or choose me over someone else.
As I walked away, a mix of sadness and resignation filled my soul. It was a painful realization, but I had to acknowledge that sometimes love doesn't work out the way we want it to. I was just a drivers son anyways.
