Chapter 28
"Is everything alright between you and Sean dear?" Mom asked me as she watched me scooped some fruits into the blender.
"Yeah, everything is fine with us. Why?" I asked as I put the cover on top.
"Not to sound like we don't want you here anymore or anything but your dad and I have noticed that you practically moved back in."
"Now you definitely sound like you don't want me here anymore." I let out a chuckle. "Everything is fine with Sean and I mom. We just think that maybe a little space will make us closer you know. Like the saying, 'absence makes the heart fonder'. That's what we're doing." I said to her before turning on the blender.
"Oh, I was wondering if there may be trouble in paradise." Mom said as I finished blending the fruits.
"No, not really. Paradise is still sweet but I just need some time off from Aliyah." I told her as I strained the juice into a jug.
"Is she still giving you a hard time?"
"She's driving me nuts mom. I don't know what to do. I try everything but still, she just hates my guts." I responded.
"All you have to do now is just stop trying. Just ignore her. Maybe with time she'll eventually come around. I mean you can't force someone to like you or get along with you if they don't want to." Mom said to me.
"Don't I know it." I sighed. "But it's not just the fact that she hates me, I really think she's trying to break up Sean and I."
"Well that's not good at all. Are you sure about it?" Mom asked.
"I've never been more sure of anything else in my life like this." I responded. "She's doing everything in her power to cause arguments between Sean and I."
"Have you talked to Sean about it?"
"Yeah, I did. We sort of had a fight last weekend and I told him everything. I know he plans to talk to her but I just still think that it was better if I just came home for a while."
"See, I knew something was up." Mom said to me.
"I don't know what to do mom. With the way things are going, I just feel like breaking up with Sean."
"What? Why would you do that?" Mom asked incredulously.
"Mom, I love Sean and I really don't want to because it would break his heart. And Chrissy... I don't know if she would be able to cope right now if I just disappear out of her life but I don't want to come between a man and his daughter."
"Look, Morgan. Relationships aren't always easy. At times they come with a couple obstacles but you can't just give up and throw away your love like that." Mom advised. "Just give it time. Try to stick around a while longer and fight for what you want."

"Remind me why I'm with you in a pharmacy again." Kim said to me.
"You're helping me find an alternative to those birth control pills that I stopped taking." I told her as we walked in.
"Morgan, not to sound like a pessimist or anything but I don't think there is an alternative that I can help you find right now." Kim responded.
"There must be something else I can try. I've crossed four different kinds of pills off my list already. There must be one that actually works perfectly alright for me."
"I don't get it. Your boyfriend is a doctor, he is the best person to suggest a vast amount of other contraceptives, why don't you talk to him?"
"I feel like I bother Sean a little too much sometimes. I mean he was the one that suggested those last three pills after the first one started to make me sick. I don't want to bother him anymore for a while. He's got a lot to deal with differently." I said to her.
"Morgan, if you've tried four different oral contraceptives and all of them either make you feel sick, moody or have other undesirable side effects, then don't you think it's time to try something else?" Kim suggested.
"I don't really like changes."
"Maybe you should consider it though. They have a lot of different birth controls. If the pills aren't working well for you, there is the patch, injection, cervical caps, IUD..."
"No, I don't want the injection. I've always heard that it has a lot of side effects just as the pills, and even worst, it sometimes causes body odour. And there is no way that I'm getting any form of wire or anything inserted inside of me. Those things can be dangerous Kim."
"For a woman dating a doctor you sure don't have any faith in the medical profession do you?"
"Not really. Maybe I should just take a break from all those artificial hormones for a while."
"You really want to do that? You want to chance it on just rubbers?" Kim asked in surprise.
"Not really but I just don't know what else to try right now." I said to her.
"I just suggested a long list of alternatives you could try but if none of them sounds appealing to you. I think I have one last one." Kim said to me.
"What's that?"
"Just remove your womb or get your tubes tied. That way you wont have to worry about conceptive or getting pregnant." Kim chuckled.
"Kim." I gasped and pushed her playfully. "Don't joke about things like that. I could never do that. I haven't created any heirs for myself as yet. I still need my womb. So no thanks."
"You were the one running out of options." Kim laughed.
"I wasn't, I was just unsure."
"Well you'd better make up your mind soon enough because I don't like the way that security guy is looking at us." Kim said to me. "I don't want anyone thinking I'm that desperate to steal from a drugstore."
"I'm just going to try one last type of pill. If it doesn't work then I'm done with them all."
"So you still want kids in the future?" Kim asked me.
"I do. I thought you already knew that." I said in her.
"People can change their mind."
"Well I haven't." I responded. "Maybe not now but I definitely want kids of my own one day."
"Does Sean want more kids?"
"I don't know. We've never really discussed that topic before." I said to her.
"Cory wants kids but I don't think I am ready for that as yet. I mean, he asked me about it and asked what about after graduation but I don't think I'm ready to become a mom just yet. " Kim said to me. "Graduation is like right around the corner. It's like six months away. That's a bit too soon for me. I would love to graduate then work for a while before thinking about that step."
"Yeah, that is a huge step. Have you talked to him, tell him how you feel?"
"Not really. I sort of just changed the conversation each time." Kim responded.
"Kim you've got to talk to him and set things straight. Otherwise he'll be confused as to what you want."
"I don't know. I just think that because he's in his forties and haven't gotten any kids as yet, he wants to rush it."
"Maybe if you talked to him, he'll understand. If Sean ever think about wanting another child right now, I'd have to talk to him. That way we can both be on the same page and he would know that he'll have to wait."

"Hey." Sean greeted in surprise when he came into the room.
"Hi." I smiled at him.
"I didn't know you were here. I thought you'd be at your parents."
"I can always go back if you don't want me here..."
"No, no. That's not what I meant. I just thought... You haven't been here for a while, I just didn't know if you planned on coming back." Sean said as he walked over to where I sat on the bed.
"I told you that I would be back. I never said I was going permanently." I responded as I stood up.
"I'm just glad you're here now. I've missed you." Sean said as he took my face in his hands.
"I missed you too." I told him before his lips were on mine.
"I am so sorry about everything that has happened..." Sean started as we pulled back from our kiss but I cut him off.
"Don't worry about it Sean. It's all in the past now." I smiled at him.
"I'm glad." Sean smiled back. "What do you think about going out tomorrow?"
"Out?"
"Yeah, I want to take you out for dinner. It's been a while since the two of us have gone out on a date." Sean said to me.
"A date huh?" I smiled at him. "What about the kids?"
"Don't worry about them. They'll be staying with their aunt tomorrow night." Sean said to me. "So what do you say? Dinner out tomorrow night?"
"Yeah," I nodded with a smile. "I'd like that."
~|~|~
"This is nice." I smiled at Sean as we sat around the table, we had just finished dinner.
"So you're admitting that this dinner date was a good idea then?" Sean smiled back.
"Yeah, I think after everything that's happened for the past couple of weeks, this is a good way to cool things down. We deserve tonight."
"I really think so too." Sean said as he took my hand. "What do you say we go take a stroll down by the pier?"
"I think that's another good idea. The pier is always beautiful at nights." I said as Sean and I got up.
"You know when you left the house the other day, I thought you weren't coming back. I thought that was it for us." Sean said to me as we walked hand in hand through the pier.
"I told you that I wasn't leaving permanently. You've got to give me more credit than that Sean. When I say things or make certain promises, you have to trust me to keep them."
"I do trust you baby but considering everything that has happened- Aliyah giving you hell and then I had done the same when I just attacked you accusing you of having an affair.... I'm so sorry for everything Morgan."
"Sean, I told you to stop apologising." I told him. "I already forgave you.
"I have to apologize- I need to." Sean responded. "It's the only way to let you know that I'm serious. I thought I'd lose you when you left. I don't want to lose you Morgan. I don't think I've ever told you this before but I don't ever want to lose you."
"You're not going to lose me Sean. I'm not going anywhere."
"I really hope so because I want to ask you something but I don't want you to get scared and go running off." Sean said to me as he stopped walking.
"What do you mean?" I asked him.
"We've been together for almost two years. I don't know if you think that's long enough but I feel like I've known you for way longer and I want to be with you for way longer than that. I know that we've had our little issues and obstacles in our relationship but I'm confident that we can work through them if we try. I know that you don't get along well with Ali because she can be quite an handful and she gives you hell but I'm hoping we can work that out one day. You've become a part of our family and I'd love for you to become an official member."
"I don't... I'm not sure I'm following Sean. What are you saying?"
"I'm asking you Morgan, will you marry me?" Sean asked as he took the velvet box from his pocket and slowly got down on one knee.
"What are... Oh my gosh Sean. I don't know what to say... I..."
"Just give me the answer I'm looking for Morgan. Please, you'd make me the happiest and luckiest man right now if you say yes." Sean said nervously.
I was in shock, I wasn't expecting a proposal from Sean.
"Morgan, Morgan Rosen. Will you marry me?"
"I uhm... yeah." I nodded with a laugh. "Of course, I'll marry you."
"Thank God." Sean let out a relief laugh as he stood up. "I love you Morgan."
"I love you Sean." I smiled as I practically flew into his arms.
