Note: ⚠️Self-harm Trigger Warning!

Aurora's POV

Monday morning came and we were just eating our breakfast. Dad sipping his cup of coffee while Mom chatting with him. Toby eating his eggs on one hand while playing his toy car on the other. Steven casually eating his food a see if nothing really happened and then... there's me. His free hand is on my thigh but I found no energy to remove it while I'm poking my breakfast. It seems I don't have much of an appetite.

"Oh, let's check the morning news." Mom said as she grabs the remote and turns the TV on.

"Good morning everyone. On one Halloween night at Richfield High School, the police reported two murder incidents. A boy named Lucas Williams, and a girl named Tamara Duke, are found dead in the school restrooms. The police found no evidence of the incident and they couldn't cover any camera footage of the incident cause it seems that the school system has been hacked and the footage has been deleted. And early this morning, the Principal announced to cancel today's classes both High School and Elementary School to reassure the safety of the students and resume the classes tomorrow." The news reporter said and I look at Steven and he seems to be relaxed and he doesn't seem to care.

"Well did you hear that, guys? No school today." Dad said and Toby cheered in excitement while Steven and I were just sitting there in silence.

I suddenly feel sick and I think I'm gonna throw up. Vomit starts to rise up and I cover my mouth. I rush to the kitchen sink and immediately puke everything out.

"Aurora? Sweetie, is everything okay?" Mom asks and she pulls all of my hair up and holds them still as if they're in a ponytail.

I wipe my mouth and turn on the sink as the clear water starts to wash and clear out the disgusting vomit.

"I'm fine. I think it's the morning sickness or I might have eaten something that makes me sick." I said as I try to relax. Mom rubs circles on my back before fetching me a glass of water.

"Drink this." She handed the glass to me and I took a sip. "But you barely touch your food these days. Are you sure you're okay?"

'No. Can't you see that I'm not.'

"Yeah, mom... I'm fine." I said before taking another sip. But then something hit me. Don't tell me... I'm not... am I?

"I think I need to head out and get some fresh air. Maybe go to the lake nearby or something." I said, putting the glass of water down and head back to the dining room to grab my phone and wallet from my bag and my thick black jacket.

"I'll be back." I said and I ruffled Toby's hair before heading out.

"Don't be out too late, sweetie." I heard my mom said and I didn't bother to answer back.

I just head out and on my way to a drugstore nearby.

__

I walked in the drugstore and look for a pregnancy test. I found a couple of pregnancy tests on the very corner of the shelf and I put my hood on so no one can see me. A sixteen-year-old girl looking for a pregnancy test and everyone will either look confused or shock or suspicious and they will get the idea right away.

I grab the cheapest one and head to the counter. I put the pregnancy test while looking at the ground. I heard the product being scanned already and the lady told me the price and I immediately paid for it, not caring how much the exact price was.

She just places the change on the counter and slowly pushes the pregnancy test towards me with a receipt on top it.

I quickly grab them and shove them into my pocket and head out. I pull down the hood and I can feel my heart beating faster and I can hear it in my head and my head feels like it's about to explode.

I look for the nearest restroom and I pray for a negative result.

__

I just sit there with my back leaning against the hard bark of the biggest tree here at the lake nearby and I can feel my hands shaking with the pregnancy test in my hands. Tears just start to roll off my eyes and I clenched my teeth, trying not to cry too loud.

This can't be real...

This can't be happening...

The result is positive.

I couldn't believe my eyes and I just wish this is just a dream. I try to pinch myself really hard and I'm still here. I have his baby growing inside of me. I'm not ready for this. I'm not ready to have a baby and I'm not ready to be a mom. A teenage mom that is. This is a living nightmare.

I'm so sick of this and I wish I could just abort the baby immediately and die along with it so I can this living nightmare.

With full of pain and anger inside of me, I throw away the pregnancy test to the ground and curl myself into a ball and cry.

"Are you okay?"

I look up and my eyes widen up and I immediately back away to the side from the person standing in front of me.

It's no one other than... Steven the monster himself.

My breathing became heavy as if my heart just sinks or it feels like it's going to explode. I'm losing my mind.

"Stay away from me! Don't touch me!" I screamed before I get up and run as fast as I could. I look back and he's just standing there.

I continue to run until I'm as far away from him as possible.

__

I stop myself from running and hide behind another big tree far away from the lake. I slowly lean my back against the tree and slide down and wipe my tears.

I pant and try to take a breather. I pull out my wallet and I pull out a blade that I've kept since the 7th grade. Mom knew about my cutting, sent me to therapy but I stopped. However, I feel like I'm doing it again. I mean, look at my situation right now.

I take off my jacket and pull up my sleeve and stare at my slightly bruised and deadly pale arm. I slowly put the sharp blade on my skin and then...

SLIT.

SLIT.

SLIT.

SLIT.

SLIT.

I made cut and another cut and red lines start to form and crimson liquid starts to paint my arm like a canvas.

SLIT.

I made the last cut and my breathing became heavy. I look for something to wipe the blood off. Conveniently, I found a handkerchief and I use it to wipe the blood off. I wipe the blood off until the bleeding stops.

Why am I doing this? I'm so ashamed of myself and I hate myself and I let all of this happened to me because I was so weak and I felt so helpless and lost.

Then I can hear vibration coming from the pocket of my jacket.

I pull my phone out and it's a call from Heather. I sniff and take a deep breath before answering it.

"He-Hello? Heather?"

"Hey Ro! Since there's no school today and my parents are out of the house for tonight so it's just me and my annoying brothers, I was wondering if you would like to spend the night here with me and I invited our two other friends, Sophie and Lisa, from the Newspaper Club. You know like we used to do before. So, are you in or what?"

"I guess that would sound nice. Just text me the details and I'll see you soon."

"Okie, see ya!"

I hang up and put my phone back into my pocket and look up the sky. I need to take a night off from Steven and forget about my problems right now. I roll down my sleeve, put the red stained handkerchief into my pocket, put on my jacket, get up and head back home.

Stefan's POV

I just continue looking at the pregnancy test that Aurora threw away earlier and it's a positive result.

I pull out my phone and call Steven.

"What is it, Stefan?"

"Steven, I found Aurora earlier here nearby the lake and I found something."

"... I'm listening."

"I don't know how to say this but I'll just be straight forward. It's a positive result."

"Wait... what?!"

"She took a pregnancy test and there you have it."

"You gotta be joking."

"Oh, I'm not. She's pregnant and the baby is yours."
