Chapter 114 Daria, Estevan, Desimond

Chapter 114 Daria, Estevan, Desimond

The grand banquet that was supposed to commemorate the crown of the new King rather became a declaration of the King’s future Queen. Because of the lowly origin of Countess Dariaviche, many higher ranking nobles took pride in their titles and extremely opposed the idea of making her the future Queen of the Kingdom of Qavlov. These higher ranking nobles dug out the origin of Daria and found that she is Major Daria Roachim who betrayed her country, the Lendomn Republic.

However, that revelation did not take effect to the people as the Lendomn Republic’s people were happy to know that the conqueror of their country would marry their kind. This would give them authority and freedom against the Qavlov people who look down on them. Because of this revelation, the King had no choice but to expose Daria’s identity as the military strategist and as his mentor during the war. Moreover, Daria’s debauchery was only betraying her country and her achievements are no different from an ordinary human that rose to the top.

The court’s discussion about Countess Dariavich took a month before the higher ranking nobles gave up on taking their stand to push her down because they could not retaliate with the Countess’ achievements that caused the furtherance of the Kingdom’s civilization. The Countess’ case was finally closed after a month and this is why all her moves will be calculated. The nobles might have let her go but some of the noble women did many kinds of schemes to have the King.

No one was able to stop the marriage of the King and Countess Daria. They wedded just after the case was closed as if the King already knew that Countess Daria would win and prepared in advance. Finally, Countess Daria was crowned as the Queen of the Kingdom of Qavlov.

“This is ridiculous, your majesty!”

During the first meeting of the aristocrats with the King, almost all of them had already expressed their disagreements with the new laws to be published. This is due to their hurting pride that there was a law about the women’s possibility to have authority over the house, the court, the businesses, the military, and the nobility.

“Women are meant to please the men. Women are meant to do what their husbands want." The misogynistic philosophy of men came to light during the meeting and multiple misogynistic opinions covered one after another.

King Estevan was not bothered by all the disagreements as he knows what he is going to say. Everything that Queen Daria taught him to say were all philosophies that the noble men could not dare oppose. Thus, the King and his faction won the arguments and proceeded to the signing of the law.

The misogynistic men were all gloomy with the court’s decision and they were all blaming Queen Daria. Since they could not make movements toward the heavily guarded Queen, they came up with another idea.

“Your majesty, please take some concubines.”

The bloomy expression of the King immediately went gloom. His eyes immediately went straight to one of the Dukes. He did not speak for a while and stared at the noble man.

The nervous noble man was intimidated when he proceeded to his explanation.

“It would be better for his majesty to conceive heirs to strengthen the royal family’s bloodline. Since the Queen might not be able to conceive a child because of her previous experience in the military, we, your slaves, have daughters that fit to conceive your majesty’s children—

Bang! Everyone immediately became silent after the King trampled the table. His gritted teeth were visible to his chin.

“Do not push me to my limits, Lord Asukh.”

He stood up still in menace. “Even if all women in the Kingdom were to beget to me for free, I shall refuse them, come to the Queen and do what shall be told upon me.”

“None shall decide for the King nor shall decide for my Queen lest thou wish for painful eternal sleep.”

King Estevan was not in the good mood when he was on his way to the Queen’s quarters but as soon as his eyes landed on his wife, he was covered with peace of mind. He was immediately on his wife’s knees as he wrapped his arms around her waist.

“My wife, I miss you.”

Daria chuckled. “You were with me during breakfast.”

“I miss you every second.”

“Please stand your majesty. You need not to kneel beneath me.”

“Are you shy, my wife? I can also kiss your feet.”

Daria chuckled and led her husband to stand. “Your majesty, you being happy is enough for me.”

“It makes me happy when I am beneath, my wife.”

Daria could only shake her head because of the King's submissiveness towards her. She did not expect him to be this type of lover. Why had she not known that Esteban’s type of love is actually this? Would he have been like this if… he did not meet Kathika and loved her first?

“My wife is thinking of something else.” The King pouted his lips and made a pitiful expression.

Daria immediately took a peck on his lips and pulled him to the sofa so they could talk. When she was supposed to sit on the opposite side, he followed her and sat beside her. This made Daria helpless. Estevan is just as clingy as Reginald. If he is like this in the first place, how did he stop his urges to her as the first consort? How did she not know that Esteban is this sticky.

“I would like to sit by my wife’s side rather than sitting opposite. I feel too apart from you. You know, if death befalls upon my beloved, I would, no doubt, follow after.”

“Really? If death befalls upon his majesty before his beloved, what would happen to his beloved?”

Estevan leaned on her shoulder. “Are you going to be lonely?”

Thinking about that time he held him in her arms, there was no doubt that her heart stung. “It would feel like I am drowning in the depth of the cold ocean, your majesty.”

“My wife, please be lonely for me when death do us apart but if happiness befalls to you after I depart, do not be guilty as I will be happy for you.”

Daria did not speak and just smiled. Her heart is relieved.

‘He is still the same.’

Two months later, the Queen said to have a child in her womb. To protect her even further, the King not only assigned guards to the Queen’s palace but also tasked secret agents to look after her. No schemes succeeded during the pregnancy period until a prince was born. She named the child how it is supposed to be named.

“Evanov”

It all felt like déjà vu. All that is happening in Daria’s life in this 15th life reminded her of many things including her and Esteban’s supposed son in her first life and her and Desmond’s third son in her 14th life.

Seeing how good the King treats Evan, she could not wish for more. She started focusing on the present rather than comparing everything to the past. Daria took his little son in her arms, kissed him and sang for him until then the door of the Prince’s room opened. As soon as her eyes meet that of the opposite side, she knows that everything will change.

“Greetings, your majesty, the Queen.” He kowtowed politely. “I am Desimond Theobal, one of the military under General Theobal. I was assigned by his majesty, King Estevan, to be the Prince’s guard.”

No matter how sophisticated she is, she just cannot be like that when it comes to him. Her tears fell from her eyes and thought about how she missed him all these years.

Sir Theobar’s calm expression went down and his lips slowly curved. “I found you, your majesty.”

Despite the situation that they could not be with each other in this world, Sir Theobal respected her and continued to become Evan’s personal guard. He protected Evan just like how he was supposed to protect him as a father. In fact, Evan was once his son. But despite being careful and being formal with each other, King Estevan, sometimes could feel something between his Queen and Sir Theobal. He could see the way his Queen’s eyes changed when it landed in Sir Theobal’s direction. He could notice how Sir Theobar takes extra care of Evan. He was certain that these two met when Evan was born but why does it feel like his Queen had known Sir Theobal for a very long time than him?

Are they perhaps… lovers in the Lendomn Republic? But no, Sir Theobal is a descendant of the Theobal's family in his Kingdom.

“Your majesty?”

Daria noticed the unusual expression that the King makes while looking out of nowhere. The King, standing still, with a bathrobe on, came back to his senses upon hearing Daria’s voice. He walked towards the bed and sat there, not speaking.

“Are you bothered with something? Tell me.” Daria knows what this expression means so she went close to him and sat beside him.

She turned her head to look at his eyes but he looked at it in a second and then avoided it. She’s right.

“Are you perhaps… confused?”

Estevan could not just ignore his wife so he grabbed her hand, mustered his courage to be honest.

“I… am quite curious about your relationship with Sir Theobal.”

Daria was speechless as she did not expect him to notice those slight changes. She underestimated his love… so she won’t betray him.

She let out a small sigh and made a reassuring expression while she intertwined their hands. “Our relationship is just like that of a mother to her son’s personal guard… in this life.”

The last words made the King nervous for some reason. He readied himself to accept anything that his wife would say. “What do you mean, my wife?”

Daria pointed to his left chest. “Will this heart can take it?” She looked into his eyes, earnestly. “This heart would feel too happy that it might stop beating. This heart would also be too sad that it might not take the pain.”

She saw the silence in the King so she smiled and kissed his lips. “I will give you some time. Tell me when you feel like hearing it.”

The King was not able to sleep well at all that night. He was occupied with different emotions and many thoughts that clouded his sleepiness. The next day, he found himself spacing out. He could not concentrate. He could not eat his snacks. He would only feel relaxed when he sees his wife and his son. When Sir Theobal is present, he could not help but feel too curious about their relationship.

Four days later, he felt like he was ready after seeing his Queen conversing with Sir Theobal casually. He does not want to misunderstand his Queen nor he wants to be jealous of him. It is a fact that he is extremely jealous but he knows that he needs to hear from his wife first. That night, for the first time, he let the Queen sit opposite him. He wanted to see every expression she makes, every movement of her lips, and every emotion in her eyes.

Seeing the desperation in Estevan’s eyes, Daria could not help but feel soft. This man treated him right. He respected her opinions and listened to her provisions. He believed in her when he barely knew her. He accepted her despite her disability. Daria could not bear to see him suffer again.

“My husband, I have lived many lives, making this life my 16th life. And Sir Theobal was my husband twice. And you were once my husband.”

“So please no need to worry, your majesty, I shall remain as your Queen in this life.”

Daria told her about the repeated timeline and how he became her husband. She told her about their memories and all the greatness he did back in the Empire. This was indeed a shock to the King but it was not as if he would faint. Somehow, he felt relieved and happy that his Queen held great pride for him in that life. How he wishes he could remember his past lives as well…

Hearing Daria’s story, he is not worried anymore. In fact, he highly respects Sir Theobal and is not worried if he passes away earlier. He knows that his Queen would not be too lonely without him. Three years passed, with harmony  and patience, King Estevan’s wish was granted.

A god has taken a liking to Estevan’s perseverance and patience. So he was chosen to become an apostle of a middle god. After remembering the first life he regretted all his life, he cried within two nights in Daria’s arms and confessed that he was the one who turned the time back.

And at last, Daria’s grudge upon him has finally been put to rest.
