Chapter 77: ─Repercussions to Theresa’s stalking
“That’s a great set of designs so far,” Bruce commented when one of his seamstresses showed him a pantsuit created especially for the Saturday morning video recording. He was at the clothes factory in the city. All his designs were sent here for sewing.
“The music for the show sounds really good already,” he told Graham who was standing next to him in the factory office. The seamstress walked back to her work room.
“So, Mishka made a song which fits the theme of the show?” Graham asked, smiling broadly. He was clearly impressed.
“Definitely. She attended an informal fashion show one Saturday when I was not at home. So, she has an idea of how we work and how the models walk,” Bruce responded.
“That’s great, so what happened that you weren’t there?” Graham asked, frowning curiously.
“It was a coincidence. I didn’t know that her company was doing the video recording, so I had no idea that she would decide to accompany her team. So, I was out on that day.
But, it was also the same week that she had showed up at the mansion all dressed up and wearing a mask in the evening, for a dance,” Bruce explained as he frowned. It sounded like such a long time ago now.
“So, she’s been there a few times already and the two of you haven’t been on a date yet,” Graham stated, shaking his head in disagreement.
“No, but I don’t want to seem like I want to ask her on a date. I want to get to know her so that I can find out if she’s a wolf, while I’m befriending her. Maybe that fox disguise was a mere coincidence,” Bruce responded.
“Maybe not,” Graham responded.
“Anyway, you’re going to see her again on Saturday after a long break. That’s good. Let the tension build up a bit and you will see whether she missed you or not,” he added with an excited grin on his face.
“Oh, I shouldn’t put my hopes up for that. She’s also a powerful person with her father’s company and her musical talent, so I’m sure that she meets influential people all the time as well,” Bruce responded as he viewed some other clothes in a file on the desk.
“Oh, don’t be too modest. Many wolf ladies have been fighting for your attention over the years and it hasn’t changed,” Graham responded with a chuckle as he referred to Jean.
“It would be good if our plan worked and you could get Jean to stop being one of those wolves, though,” Bruce responded as he studied the designs in front of him.
His phone rang suddenly at that moment.
He checked who it was and he was delighted to see that it was his cousin Lyle, phoning from England.
“Hey there, how do you like Mishka’s song so far?” Bruce asked immediately.
“It’s super awesome. Now I know why you’re so crazy about her,” Lyle responded. Be careful that you don’t lose yourself completely. She’s a real charmer. Her voice is magical in clarity,” Lyle commented.
“Well, I told you about her voice, didn’t I?” Bruce responded.
“Yes, she sounds like someone who has a hidden power added to her voice,” Lyle agreed.
“And, on Saturday we will hear and see her perform in person,” Bruce commented with a broad grin.
“That’s awesome, but something has come up to put a spoke in the wheels last night,” Lyle remarked in a sombre tone of voice.
Bruce stopped studying the file immediately. He inhaled deeply before speaking.
“What on earth could go wrong now?” he asked with an anxious note in his voice.
“Someone bothered Mishka and her friends in the woods yesterday and she actually had the nerve to also go right up to Mishka’s house,” Lyle responded, still in a calm tone of voice.
“Jean or Theresa?” Bruce asked immediately.
“Theresa, because I heard that Jean moved to her aunt’s house. So she’s still not so close to your neighborhood and she isn’t blonde,” Lyle responded.
“Who told you? Are they sure that it’s Theresa?” Bruce asked, ruffling a hand through his hair in frustration.
“Mishka called me herself because she remembers how Theresa looked in wolf form when she saw her in the woods with you that day.
She also says that Theresa’s been stalking her in a car recently. So, she knows Theresa in her wolf form as well as in her human form. She figured it out for herself when she saw her in both forms in the woods yesterday,” Lyle explained.
“Did she change shape in front of Mishka?” Bruce asked, his eyes wide in alarm.
“No, but she was in human form one moment then ran away and appeared again in her wolf form,” Lyle explained.
“Oh, that’s really bad in all respects. When did Mishka tell you this? Does she still want to sing for us?” Bruce asked, gripping tightly onto the back of a chair in his anxiety.
“She contacted me because she’s comfortable speaking to me. But she’s definitely still gonna do the show. She was just hoping that we could find a way to control Theresa before her father finds out that she was at their house. He already knows about her stalking Mishka’s vehicle,” Lyle responded.
“Oh, no. This is really bad. If her father knows that she’s facing a safety threat then he won’t want her coming over here,” Bruce remarked on a note of despair.
“And we don’t yet know if she and her family are wolves. But, don’t worry, she’s not gonna ditch the video recording. She just wants us to warn Theresa off,” Lyle remarked.
“Thanks for telling me, cuz. I will work out a strategy that’s different from mere talking, then I will get back to you with my plan,” Bruce responded before ending the call.
“Wow, it sounds like Jean has caused some trouble again?” Graham asked with a raised eyebrow as he looked at Bruce in concern.
“Yes, and Mishka doesn’t even know anything about Jean yet,” Bruce responded with a deep sigh of despair.
“So, Jean is not directly involved?” Graham asked, looking straight at Bruce’s face.
“No, Mishka has unfortunately met Theresa, who’s fighting for Jean. I don’t know why she’s so loyal to Jean. She’s placing herself in danger on her friend’s behalf,” Bruce responded, rubbing his eyes in fatigue.
“I can help you out, if you will allow me,” Graham offered with a serious look in his eyes.
“You think so?” Bruce asked, studying Graham’s face carefully.
“Yes, just tell me what happened, with all the details and I will find a way to work this out,” Graham responded.
“Well, Mishka already met Theresa in the woods once and now she’s recognized her in her wolf form as well, because Theresa is stalking her,” Bruce responded as he sat down on a chair in front of the desk.
Graham sat down on the other chair.
“So, Mishka knew that the wolf was the stalker?” he asked with an alarmed look in his eyes.
“Yes, I think she managed to make the connection from meeting Theresa in the woods in both human and wolf form. This happened yesterday when Theresa even went to Mishka’s home in wolf form,” Bruce remarked, shaking his head in confusion.
“So, she’s really desperate to scare Mishka off. What if Mishka’s father or someone else there saw her and shot at her?” Graham asked with his brows raised for emphasis.
“Oh, I didn’t even think about that. The pack would think that I asked them to do it. I’m sure someone has already found out about this new obsession of Jean’s. The pack might already know about her and her new object of jealousy,” Bruce responded as he leaned forward and rubbed his hands together nervously.
“I can find a way to distract Jean and Theresa at the same time,” Graham remarked with a glint in his eye.
“Really? Without using force?” Bruce asked with his eyes lighting up.
