Chapter 61
Callum POV
This bitch seriously had no idea of the last few days. Who was now in charge? She had no idea that the royal pack had been broken apart by Daisy and me. We didn't want a crown, but in this situation, I would play that card if I had to. I would be King if it meant getting rid of hunters. We didn't need them. Wolves could regulate themselves. I never knew why the old royal line, in the first place, ever made peace with the hunters.
"Why are you smirking. Want to share." "The king is dead." She now looked surprised. "Your deal with the royals is dead. You should rethink your whole strategy of saying you are sanctioned by them." "Well, I will just go to the new King. He will be fine with me taking your pack out. He is his father's son, after all." I laughed. Lorde wanted me to rip her throat out. "His son is dead, the line is dead, the royal back is gone, and in the wind, all rogues or part of other packs."
His face paled. "That protection you had by the royals is gone now." "Fine, so be it. Then we will just go after all of you." I snorted. "Yes, because that has worked out in the past, right?" I knew the history of the hunters. They used to be big, but they were hunted as they hunted us. They made a deal with the Royals to make sure packs followed the rules, and they could kill those who did not follow them. "Who is in charge then?" I smiled. "Me, I am king now."
"I could just kill you, then we would be on the top." "You could kill me, but then who would protect you?" I would get out of here and kill them all. I would give them my word they could live, and we could make a deal, and I would betray it. I was not above lying. "Where is your pack? We only want to punish those responsible for killing the humans." I growled that included Daisy, and I would be killed, and I would not sanction that or anyone dying in my pack. "Why we struck a nerve. Your mate is responsible, isn't she?" I growled, trying to rip out of the cuffs.
Lorde was trying to shift but couldn't. "Yeah, you are not going to shift. We injected silver into your system before you woke up, and while you are here, you will keep receiving these injections. Can't have you talking to those outside these walls or shifting on us now, can we, King. Now you mate?" I growled. "Yes, she is responsible; give us her, and we will let the whole pack live." "Fuck you." Just then, I got zapped with one of the long sticks. It burned into my skin. "Where is the pack?" I said nothing and was zapped again.
This went on. Where is Daisy? Where is the Pack? Give us her, and you can all live. I don't know how long they kept asking, but when I said nothing, I would be zapped. I was so tired when they unhooked me, and I could have pushed through the pain and killed maybe two or three of them, but I did not know enough yet. I let them drag me like dead weight and let them think they did more damage than they did. When they pushed me into the cell, I lay there until they retreated. "Reid, what do you get for me." "No cameras. They don't expect us to escape."
"Jax?" "Out cold still." Geeze, he must be susceptible to silver. They came in and gave me another shot of silver. They didn't provide Jax one, as he is still out of it. Did they give you another dose of silver?" "Yeah, among other things." "The pack left and went to hide." "Yep, they want Daisy, they want the pack, they know I am king now." "Good Goddess Callum, how are we going to fucking get out of here?" "We wait; it is not going to be a fast escape. Daisy and David will hold the pack together. I can't talk to her, but I know she is smart. She could raise an army. I don't fucking know."
Two men came in. They slid food under the bars. It was just a cup of milk, a water bottle, and some bread. "Eat or don't." They looked at Jax. He put his food and said, "This wolf is a fucking pussy a little silver, and he is out for a fucking long time. When he wakes up, and we give him another dose, I bet he will just pass out. He will be useless the whole time they are here. I don't know why the boss doesn't just kill him." I growled at them. "Oh look, it is the king; oh, I am so scared."
I grabbed the bread and began to eat. When they left, I told Reid. "I am worried about Jax." "Me too." "He needs to wake up. He can't just lay there and waste away. They will kill him if he is useless. Maybe when he wakes up, they will torture him more bc they assume he is weak." "Jax," I called but got no response. "Reid, we should eat, and I will tell you everything that happened.
We sat there and talked. My body hurt, and the silver injections would prevent me from healing all the way. I would remain in pain the whole time we were here. I wondered how Lorde would fare in a place like this. He needed to kill every so often that he demanded it. If he couldn't, we ran the risk of going crazy, and when we did get out of here, I may not be in control of him. He would control me, and that was dangerous for everyone. One thing was certain: these hunters could never find out about the bloodlust. They would kill me and Daisy without hesitation.
