Chapter 125
Grey’s POV
I waited till Nevada had fallen asleep before I stopped to rub her back gently.
It had been a long day, and I was glad she had finally gotten some rest.
Time passed, and I lay on the bed, unable to sleep; my mind was troubled; I needed to find out where Alicia was. I kept thinking about her; I didn’t know if she could get some sleep.
I didn’t want to fail as a father and didn’t want to fail Nevada; I loved my family and couldn’t wait to have them officially. I thought about the way Bernadette reacted to the news.
It was possible that Bernadette had no idea that Alicia was abducted, and I couldn’t smell Alicia in the house or anywhere around Bernadette, which was very unusual.
There was no way Bernadette wouldn’t have smelt of Alicia when I got there if, indeed, she was involved in the kidnap.
I was an alpha, and it wasn’t difficult to sniff out such things. I found it easy to do.
Nevada held me tightly, and I couldn’t help but wonder what was going through her mind and how she would react when she woke up.
The room was quiet, and I could hear Nevada breathing lightly. I needed to feed my nose more of Alicia’s things and look around for her.
I waited till I was sure Nevada was deeply asleep and slowly crawled out of bed, careful not to wake Nevada. I needed to start my search on time and didn’t want to disturb Nevada.
“ I love you,” I muttered and left the house.
Alicia’s room was open, and I went inside to pick one of her clothes; I needed it for the search.
I realized I hadn’t called the driver to bring Nevada’s car back to the house. I knew she might have a few places to go, and I wouldn’t be around to drive her there.
Nevada stirred in her sleep and opened her eyes slowly, and I had been caught. I sat back on the bed and slowly patted Nevada.
“Are you leaving?” Nevada muttered
“Yes, I need to find Alicia, and I promise to let you know if anything happens,” I whispered, kissing her on the lips
Nevada smiled in her sleep, and I left the room; I knew she would remember all this when she woke up.
I got into the car and called the driver. He picked up the call immediately, and I asked him to bring Nevada’s car to the house; I noticed the key was with me and asked that he wait at the company.
The driver waited outside the company, making it easy for me to spot him; I gave him the key to the car and described Nevada’s house in case he had forgotten the way.
I waited till the driver drove out of the parking lot before doing the same; I drove down to my beta’s house and called his number to inform him that I was outside.
My beta came out looking all dressed, much to my surprise; I had expected that he would be asleep or just be waking up.
“Did you get any information about Bernadette?” I asked, and my beta shook his head.
“All my sources confirm that she was in the house that very day,” my beta explained
I sighed in frustration. I didn’t have anybody in mind aside from Bernadette, and it seemed like she was innocent.
“Let’s go hunting,” I muttered, feeling the need to shed blood.
My beta agreed to hunt, and I drove us to the woods. My beta looked excited, and I realized it had been a while since we went to hunt, and it was bad.
We needed to go on more hunts to strengthen our wolves and make us fit for fights.
“Have you gotten any information from Kai?” I asked, and my beta shook his head.
We arrived at the woods, and I parked at a suitable spot.
“Are you ready?” I asked insisting
“Yes, I am,” my beta replied
I came out of the car and immediately changed into wolf form; I dashed into the forest, leaning my beta behind me. I howled into the air, hoping I would be calmer.
My beta howled beside me, and Before I knew it, other members of my pack nearby howled into the air and came to meet us in the woods.
I changed back to human form and addressed it there; I didn’t plan for a meeting but decided to use it well. I explained that my daughter had been kidnapped and I needed help to find her.
My pack members changed into human form and promised to do their best. I dropped Alicia’s dress, and they sniffed one after the other.
“Thank you so much for responding swiftly to my call,” I muttered
“We are always ready to serve you,” one replied, and the others nodded.
I apologized for not showing up regularly and explained that I had to run the company first but promised to bring a union that would strengthen the pack and make us invincible.
“I would need the abductor alive,” I ordered
I needed to punish whoever abducted Alicia by myself and not let the person die a quick death.
My beta ended the meeting, and everyone went their way. I knew we would get results now that I had given my pack Alicia’s clothes to sniff.
“Do you still want to hunt?” My beta asked
“Yes,” I replied, changing into wolf form and chasing an animal I had sighted.
It didn’t take long for me to catch up with the animal, and I tore it limb by limb, feeding on its blood and enjoying the cruelty. I imagined it was Alicia’s abductor that I was tearing into pieces.
My beta arrived, and I allowed him to feed on the animal; I felt stronger and more active than earlier.
I didn’t stop until I had killed about four animals, tasted their blood, and felt life sip out of their bodies.
My beta was done feeding and changed into human form; I followed suit and noticed my clothes were stained with blood.
“Do you have extra clothes in the car?” My beta asked
I nodded; I always kept extra clothes because of situations like this. I couldn’t risk humans finding out about our existence.
“Let’s go to the car,” I said, and my beta followed me.
I brought a new top and passed it to my beta; I pulled off my stained top, collected my beta’s and kept it inside the car.
“Thank you,” my beta said
“You are welcome,” I muttered, entering into the car.
My phone began to ring, and I picked it up without looking at the caller ID.
“Hello, this is Kai,” Kai said over the phone.
I was shocked to see Kai call me after we separated. Kai was a special friend to me, and I wished I could have him back as a friend.
“Hi Kai, do you have any information about Alicia’s whereabouts?” I asked
“Not yet; I called to ask if you had gotten any information,” Kai replied
I frowned; I had expected good news from Kai and was disappointed.
“I’ve not been able to get anything yet, but I’m working on it,” I explained
“I also have been working on it, but it all seems to be leading to a dead end, and I was wondering if there was something that could help with the search,” Kai explained
I explained how things had been and that my pack was searching and on the lookout.
“Do you need more men?” Kai asked
I was quiet as I didn’t want to say yes and lose pride. I thought about Alicia and Nevada and realized it was better to let go of whatever pride I had and focus on the situation.
“Yes, I would be needing more men,” I let out
“Okay, I will send some of my men to you,” Kai replied
“Thank you,” I muttered
“I’m not doing this for you; I’m doing this for Alicia, and I hope you do your part and ensure we get her back safely,” Kai said and hung up.
“What did he say?” My beta asked
I explained that it was a dead end for him as well, and there was no news yet.
“What do we do?” My beta inquired
“I don’t know; I guess we wait for news,” I replied, confused and exhausted.
My phone began to ring, and I was angry; I picked it up without looking at the screen.
“What do you want?” I blurted out, thinking it was Kai.
“Did I call at the wrong time?” Nevada’s soft voice said, calming me down.
“I’m sorry. I thought it was someone else. How are you doing?” I asked, knowing the answer to the question
“I am just here hoping to hear good news from you,” Nevada muttered
My smile faded as I realized I was about to break her heart.
“I’m working on everything I can to ensure Alicia is found. I know how you are feeling and that it would be hard for you, but I promise I will return your daughter,” I said.
