Chapter 30: He Can Wait
Zachary felt a bit guilty, but still forced himself to stay calm and nodded, "Yeah, so what? I didn't expect he'd come after me over that bitch Emily!"
Cameron's vision went dark when he heard this, and he almost fainted. His wife Maya Coleman caught him, helping him steady himself.
Then he picked up a slipper from the floor and started hitting Zachary with it.
"You bastard! Why did you have to go and offend Noah?! Do you know who he is?! You're going to be the death of me!"
Cameron cursed furiously, and Maya's face was also dark with anger. "What were you thinking, stirring up trouble with Noah for no reason! Don't you know the Stone family is not someone we can afford to offend!"
"How was I supposed to know! And I didn't really offend him - I just said a couple things about Emily, and he suddenly got angry."
The more Zachary spoke, the more guilty he felt, not even daring to look Cameron and Maya in the eye.
Cameron and Maya were absolutely furious - how did they end up with such an idiot for a son?
"Enough! Mom, Dad, what's the point of all this now! It already happened. No matter how much you blame me, it won't help."
Zachary defended himself impatiently. Cameron was so angry he clutched his chest, barely able to breathe.
Just then, a phone call came in. "Mr. Coleman, this is bad! Several of our company's partners suddenly decided not to cooperate anymore, and our previous projects have all been halted! Plus several companies are chasing us for final payments. You need to figure something out quick!"
"What did you say? Listen, keep things stable. The company doesn't have enough cash flow right now!"
"We can't! Those people have already shown up at the company! Mr. Coleman, please think of something!"
Cameron angrily hung up, but then the debt collectors' calls found him too. "Mr. Coleman, let's just end the cooperation we discussed. Your son is really something."
Cameron's hands were shaking. Even partners who'd always had good relations with him were mocking him, leaving him feeling utterly hopeless.
"Dad? What's wrong?"
Zachary panicked. "Dad, what happened to the company? Say something!"
"Shut up and let me think. Our family is about to declare bankruptcy."
Cameron closed his eyes in despair. The entire Coleman family combined couldn't match even one finger of Noah's. Noah seemed cold, but in reality, he was ruthless and never let grudges go unpunished!
This time, for some reason, Zachary had offended Noah, and with Noah's temperament, how could he possibly let them off easily!
"How is that possible? I don't believe it!"
But it was already done. The Coleman Group soon declared bankruptcy, and even all their liquid assets couldn't completely fill the gap!
Zachary finally understood fear. He never imagined Noah would have such power!
He finally regretted it, but it was too late to do anything to fix it.
"Wait, Adam!"
He suddenly realized something - since Emily was engaged to Noah, maybe her words could help!
He quickly pulled out his phone and called Adam.
At that moment, Adam and Vivian were in a hotel. They'd waited a long time before finally being rescued, and just when they were sleeping soundly, they were interrupted by a phone call.
"What is it!"
He asked impatiently. Zachary hurriedly said in panic, "Adam, help! My family's company went bankrupt! It was all Noah's doing!"
"What did you say? Noah? You offended him? Zachary, are you sick? Why would you provoke him?"
Adam was really angry. He knew Noah's reputation well - this person was extremely ruthless and had cruel methods. Anyone he targeted never had a good ending.
"Adam, I know I was wrong! Please, help me find Emily! She's with Noah, he'll definitely listen to what she says!"
"Wait, what do you mean? How could Emily possibly be with Noah?"
Adam was confused, his face full of doubt as he questioned. Zachary said irritably, "How should I know! I just saw them together! Adam, you have to help us!"
Vivian beside Adam had also been woken up. Hearing the voice on the phone, her eyes rolled as she said, "Adam, you know what Emily is like. She's very cunning - maybe she's bewitched Noah too, making him listen to her obediently?"
"You have a point. Emily is definitely not ordinary."
Adam nodded slightly, then said, "Alright, stop wailing. I'll call Emily now and ask what's going on."
"Okay! Thank you, Adam!"
Zachary said excitedly. Adam had already hung up and called Emily directly.
At that moment, Emily had just dropped Noah off at his front door, saying softly, "Mr. Stone, you're home."
Noah opened his eyes and looked at her deeply. "Call me Noah from now on."
"Okay." Emily was a bit shy, but this wasn't an unreasonable request - she needed to learn to adapt.
Noah looked at her, feeling somewhat regretful. Why was this route so short? He had to go home so soon.
His gaze seemed to show reluctance and tenderness, making Emily's ears burn. She couldn't help but blink and avoid his intense gaze. "Aren't you going home?"
"Feeling a bit dizzy, need to rest for a moment."
Noah looked at her profile. Though he wasn't drunk, he felt as if he already was.
An ambiguous atmosphere filled the air. Emily's face was completely red. Since Noah wasn't getting out, she felt too embarrassed to say anything.
Noah traced Emily's profile with his eyes, almost greedily wanting to imprint her in his mind.
But time was limited after all. Noah knew he needed to be patient a little longer.
He had plenty of patience to wait for the day when Emily would completely open her heart to him.
"I'll head back now. You drive the car home, I'll have someone pick it up another day."
Noah was about to get out when Emily nodded randomly, then was interrupted by a phone ringtone.
Emily froze, took out her phone and glanced at it. Noah caught sight of the caller ID from the corner of his eye and suddenly wasn't in a hurry to leave.
Because the contact name was "Bastard."
He guessed it might be Adam.
Sure enough, after Emily answered, Adam's voice came through. His voice was quite loud - even without speakerphone, Noah could hear clearly.
"Emily! What are you making a fuss about now? A promiscuous woman like you just can't stay put for even one day, can you? I just went on a trip and you can't help looking for another man? Are you really that cheap?"
Adam started cursing right away, making Noah's eyes turn cold as frost.
