Chapter 178: Aviah's Other Identity Skylar Torres
Aviah's POV
I got back to the hotel room after 3 AM. First, I tiptoed to the kids' room to check on Ethan and Diane sleeping soundly, then quietly returned to my own room.
Lying in bed, my mind kept going over that bet with Scarlett.
We didn't set a deadline, but I've always been the type to act on my word. Scarlett knows me too well - she'll definitely take action right away too.
Whether she does it or not, as long as I do it and win in the end, she'll have to admit defeat. And if she doesn't, I've got Griffin backing me up.
In this bet, at least I have fair treatment now, instead of that unequal agreement from before.
Scarlett can't and won't dare not to actively respond.
Thinking about this, I felt even better.
All I need to do is give it my all from now on, hide my true identity, and step by step become Lakeview's most popular star.
How should I hide my identity?
Thinking about the fake identities Griffin used to trick me, I came up with a plan.
If Griffin could use the identities of Ryan and Raven to fool me, why can't I do the same?
From now on, my hidden identity will be Skylar Torres.
That's a good name. I'll go with it.
Maybe come up with a catchy catchphrase to enrich the image.
I am the embodiment of the sun, your goddess. I want you all to bow down to my voice. I am Skylar Torres.
I imagined this scene and laughed shyly, burying my head in the blanket, gripping the corner tightly with my hands, kicking my legs back and forth. Too embarrassing - forget it.
Slowly, drowsiness took over and I fell asleep.
The next day.
I took the kids and Edna to Obsidian Atoll.
I rented a speedboat and brought the whole family, except Griffin.
Griffin was off doing who knows what - he didn't bother me today.
Of course I wouldn't reach out to him first. After teaching Ethan how to drive the speedboat, I watched him from the side while thinking about the bet.
Becoming a star has always been my dream, just put on hold because of many things.
When I first came back to Lakeview, constantly on the edge of bankruptcy, I didn't have time to pursue my dream. Now it's different.
I've confirmed the kids' father's identity, and we've each saved each other's lives once. This relationship is unshakeable.
Plus, after that incident with Skyline Group, Griffin wanted to give me the patent fees. Based on the multi-touch technology price of $30 per phone, with the huge number of phones sold over the years, I could make at least $10 million.
But in the end, we consolidated everything and he gave me 1% of Skyline Group's shares. This 1% seems small, but actually, I can get at least $20 million in dividends each year. More importantly, with shares, I'm a shareholder - a truly core figure inside the company.
I'm wealthy now, at least I don't have to worry about making a living.
But to me, these are all minor matters. I've experienced the wealthy life before. Instead, the difficult life after Alexander's death helped me understand and see clearly the essence of survival.
But now I don't have to worry about not being able to give Ethan and Diane good living conditions.
I touched Ethan's little head and smiled.
Diane jumped on my back, "Mommy, what are you thinking about?"
I shook my head, "Nothing. Oh, Diane, Ethan, how about I take you to get diving certified?"
"Diving? In the ocean?"
I nodded, then suddenly remembered something. "Wait, I forgot - you're not ten yet, so you can't get certified. But you can take an experience class, try it out in a safe shallow area. How about it, want to go?"
Diane's eyes lit up, and Ethan was interested too.
Looking at their expectant eyes, I smiled warmly.
"Mommy, did you get your diving certificate from PADI?"
Looking at Ethan's profile, he's looking more and more like Griffin.
"Yeah, I'm surprised you know about that. My certificate level is AOW. I got it with your grandfather before."
Mentioning Alexander, my mood dropped. His death has always been my shadow.
I shook my head, not wanting to think about these sad things, and changed the subject. "I'll take you to see sharks first, then diving, okay?"
Diane raised both hands in agreement.
Happy times always pass quickly. In the blink of an eye, it was already evening. I originally planned to return to the hotel, but seeing the kids weren't done having fun yet, I decided on the spot that we'd stay at Obsidian Atoll tonight and take them around the area.
We walked to a piano bar with piano accompaniment and karaoke, with a romantic and relaxed atmosphere.
I brought the family inside and found a quiet window seat. Looking at the scenery outside and listening to the beautiful music, I could only describe it as pleasant.
Soon, a song finished and applause rang out below. I clapped along with the crowd.
Diane smiled, "That was really good, but not as good as Mommy's singing."
Ethan nodded in agreement.
I just smiled without saying anything. The male singer on stage had skills that were already quite impressive among ordinary people. Of course, with systematic learning and training, it could be even better.
Especially since he's young now with good lung capacity - it's the perfect age for singing.
"It's been so long since I heard Mommy sing. Since coming to Lakeview, Mommy's been so busy we barely see you. I'm almost forgetting what Mommy's voice sounds like." Diane tilted her little head, pouting, her big eyes full of disappointment.
I laughed helplessly, realizing I had indeed neglected Diane and Ethan quite a bit during this time.
I held Diane in my arms and softly hummed the lullaby I used to sing to put them to sleep when they were little.
Just then, the male singer on stage said, "Next, the lights will flash around, and whoever it lands on will come up and sing a duet with me. If you dare to come up, you'll get your bill waived. And if you sing well and get the whole audience's approval, you can also get a special gift prepared by our bar."
"What do you say, sounds good?"
The customers below all cheered in approval.
Then the lights started flashing. I was holding Diane and humming when the light landed on me. Everyone looked my way, and then I heard the male singer's footsteps approaching.
He stopped beside me.
"Miss, may I invite you to sing a duet with me?"
