Chapter 25
“HERE we go,” Janine said as Ken parked his car in front of her apartment building. “Thanks, and I hope this will be the last time that you will do this, Ken.”
Ken’s brows drew together. “Why? What if something happened to you again? A fan attack you—”
“It will not happen again,” Janine cut off. “I’ll be careful.”
When Janine was about to open the car door, Ken locked the car again. He looked at her and caught her eyes.
“What are you doing? I’m going out—”
“Can we just stay here for a couple of minutes?” Ken said, his voice sending shivers along Janine’s spine.
“What if I said ‘no’?”
“I’ll say ‘no’ too.”
Janine sighed. “What’s wrong with you, Ken?”
“You’re not with me, and that’s wrong.” The man grinned at what he said. “I just want to be with you for a few minutes.”
“Why are you doing this?” Janine asked, confused. “Is this one of your games again, huh? You were different when we encountered you at the bar—”
“I’m just frustrated during that time because you’re shunning me away.”
“Where are your women? Why don’t you go with them instead of bothering me?” Janine pressed her lips together. Those words slipped from her mouth.
Ken narrowed his eyes at her. “My women? Janine, you know that I only have one woman in my life—”
“So, what do you call the other women you fucked in bed? Are they just toys to you?”
“Janine.” Ken’s voice sounded heavy. “I’m sorry…”
“I’ve heard that a thousand times,” she said, shaking her head.
As Ken and Janine found themselves alone in the car, a sense of nostalgia washed over them. Janine could feel the familiar warmth emanating from Ken as they locked eyes, the memories of their past love flooding back.
Unable to resist the magnetic pull between them, Ken leaned in and softly captured Janine’s lips in a tender kiss. Their hearts fluttered with anticipation and affection as if time had momentarily stood still.
Janine’s initial instinct was to push him away, reminding herself of the pain they had gone through. However, she couldn’t deny her lingering feelings for him.
In that intimate moment, their emotions intensified, and they surrendered to the passionate connection they once shared. It was a dance of longing and tenderness, a silent acknowledgment of their shared history and the love that had once bound them together. Their bodies moved closer, hands intertwined, seeking solace in each other’s touch.
As their kiss deepened, Janine felt a wave of emotions surge. The sensation was both exhilarating and overwhelming, and she couldn’t help but be reminded of the happy times they had spent together.
But amidst the passion, a tear escaped Janine’s eye, tracing a path down her cheek.
Sensing her sudden change in demeanor, Ken broke the kiss, concern etched on his face. Gently wiping away her tears, he whispered words of comfort and reassurance. With a gentle touch, Ken leaned his forehead against Janine’s, their eyes locked in an unspoken conversation.
“What’s wrong, Janine?” Ken asked in a whisper above her lips. “I’m here now, tell me…”
Janine didn’t answer. Instead, he pushed her away and looked straight into his eyes. “This is wrong, Ken.”

AS Janine’s tears flowed down her cheeks, Ken’s heart sank, filled with concern and confusion. He desperately wanted to understand the reason behind her tears and offer her solace to bridge the gap between them.
“Janine, please,” Ken pleaded softly, his voice filled with love and sincerity. “Tell me what’s wrong. I want to be there for you, to make things right again.”
But Janine remained silent, her gaze fixed on the ground as she regained her composure. Ken’s words hung in the air, his declaration of love and desire for reconciliation echoing in the car.
He longed for her to believe him and see the depth of his emotions and his genuine remorse for their past mistakes.
“This is wrong, Ken,” Janine finally said. “This shouldn’t be happening.”
With a heavy heart, Ken watched as Janine slowly opened the car door and stepped out, leaving him behind. The door closing reverberated through the silence, amplifying his emptiness. He was left alone in the car, his mind filled with a whirlwind of emotions—heartbroken, confused, and frustrated.
Ken couldn’t help but question his actions and the choices that led them to this point. He knew he had made mistakes and allowed his flaws to overshadow their love. The pain of their separation had awakened him to the depths of his feelings, reminding him of the love he still held for Janine.
As he sat in the quiet car, the weight of their unresolved issues pressed upon him. He vowed to fight for their relationship, to prove to Janine that his love was unwavering and that he was willing to change to become a better man for her.
With determination coursing through his veins, Ken stepped out of the car, his eyes scanning the surroundings in search of Janine. The sight of her retreating figure in the distance tugged at his heart, urging him to chase after her and not let her slip away again.
But Ken knew he couldn’t force Janine to listen or understand. He had to give her the space and time to process her emotions to come to her own conclusions. He would respect her decision to walk away, even though it pained him to do so.
With a heavy sigh, Ken stood there, watching Janine disappear. He made a silent promise to himself that he would not give up, continue to fight for their love, mend the broken pieces of their relationship, and create a future filled with trust and happiness.
