Chapter 40

Laura feels comfortable working at Alex's house and has lived here for three days. She works diligently. His parents are happy with her work. He often looked at the woman who was cleaning the room. With her ordinary appearance, she looked very beautiful.

Suddenly, she came closer to him and Alex was nervous. She greeted him with a sweet smile. He couldn't avoid her anymore.

"Young master," Laura greeted.

"Ra, how many times have I told you, don't call me that? Just call me Alex, okay?"

Laura shook her head. She didn't want to call him by name. Laura wanted to call him Young Master, it seemed more respectful. The closeness between them was intimate.

"I want to be more respectful to you because you are my savior. You saved me that time when I was being chased by those punks," Laura said while looking at Alex.

After a few seconds of staring at Laura's face, he was impressed by her beauty. No lie, Alex admired that woman. His heart was beating so fast when he saw Laura. Did he have feelings for her?

"Alright young master. No more arguments, right?" Laura bowed her body.

"It's up to you. The important thing is that you are happy, Laura."

Shit! Laura smiled sweetly at him. He was very nervous now, seeing how beautiful she was. He had to admit that Laura was more beautiful than Helena. She had an ordinary appearance, but her aura was mesmerizing. Apparently, Laura has a certain charm.

Alex had some business to attend to and immediately left Laura. He said goodbye to her and walked away. One thing he had to take care of was Helena.

Helena's house looked empty and unoccupied. The door was closed tightly and then he looked through the window. He saw that there was a lot of broken glass in the room as a result of stone throwing. Alex smiled and felt satisfied because he had succeeded in making Helena and her family not here anymore. Maybe they had all moved on.

"Wherever you go, I'll get you, Helena. You won't be able to live in peace!" Alex wasn't satisfied enough to give a reply to the woman yet.

He looked for his cell phone, which was in his pants pocket. Alex called someone and asked them to find Helena. No matter what, Helena had to be found.

"You search for her until you find her and don't fail! I'll give you a big bonus if you find her!"

Alex disconnected the call and put the phone back in his pants pocket. For the time being, he had to be a little patient and wait for news from subordinates. He had ordered his subordinate to split up in search of Helena.

Knock! Knock!

"Come in," said Alex, who was busy at his desk.

As it turned out, it was Laura who came in with a cup of coffee for Alex. He stopped what he was doing for a moment and engaged her in conversation. He told her to sit down first.

"Thank you for making this coffee for me."

"There is no need to thank me like that. It's only natural, you're my boss in this house." Laura handed him the cup of coffee slowly.

Alex smiled as he glanced at Laura. More and more, they were getting closer like this. He also felt comfortable around her. Laura was a nice woman and always gave him a smile.

"In that case, I'll go outside first." Laura immediately stood up.

"Wait a minute. Wait a minute, Laura."

Laura was confused, but the woman remained seated. Alex scratched his head, which wasn't itchy and felt nervous around Laura. Should he confess his feelings to her now? Isn't it too soon?

Alex decided to keep his feelings for Laura to himself. He was afraid that Laura would be like Helena. When he liked a woman, he was afraid of getting his heart broken again. Was Laura the same as Helena or was she different?

"Young master Alex, do you still need me here? If there's nothing else you need, I'll leave now," said Laura, who gave Alex a wake-up call because he had been daydreaming.

"Laura, are you going to bed now?"

"Not yet, young master. Why?"

Alex felt a little uncomfortable when Laura referred to him as a young master. But, what could it be? She felt comfortable when he referred to her that way. He just wanted to get closer to Laura and get to know her better. Wouldn't it be wrong if he opened his heart again?

"Can we talk for a while tonight?" Alex tidied up some files that were lying on his desk.

"Of course we can, young master," Laura replied happily.

"Do you currently have a boyfriend?" For some reason, Alex asked that question. He was just curious about Laura.

"Not yet."

Alex also felt more relieved after hearing Laura's answer. Perhaps he could still open his heart to Laura again. Learning from his past mistakes, he must be selective in choosing a life partner.

"What's the matter, young master? You seem very curious about me." Laura's gaze was intimidating to Alex.

"It's okay, just curious."

Laura nodded her head and believed Alex's words. He then invited Laura to leave because there was nothing more to ask.

"What about the young master? Do you have a lover?" Laura asked Alex back.

He couldn't honestly tell Laura that he was still Helena's husband. They hadn't divorced yet, even though Alex no longer had any feelings for Helena.

"I'm single, I don't have a girlfriend yet."

Alex and Laura stared at each other for a few seconds. Then they realized what they were doing. Laura apologized to Alex for asking such an inappropriate question. Alex didn't mind at all.

"Hey, don't feel uncomfortable like that. Just act normal, Laura. I'm fine with that too."

"But, it's rude of me to ask such a question to the young master." Laura patted her own forehead. "I'm sorry for speaking out of turn like that."

Finally, Laura asked for permission to leave Alex's office. He only smiled when he saw Laura's behavior, which made him feel uncomfortable.

"Laura, Laura ... you have an good attitude."

Perhaps he would open his heart again, but only to Laura. He felt comfortable around her. He would approach her slowly and win her heart completely. Alex didn't care that Laura was just a maid in his house.

"Since you don't have a lover, let me be your lover, Laura." Alex cheered and felt very happy tonight. He also banged on the table because he was so excited. "I will protect you at all times."
