Chapter 46
The young guy who just walked in was seriously good-looking, with a confident smirk on his face. "Hey everyone, I'm Vincent Woods. I'm here to rep Korean medicine and learn from all of you."
His words hit like a bomb, sending shockwaves through the room.
Adam and the seasoned doctors and guests all frowned, their faces getting serious.
"What? The rep from Korea is this young dude?" one senior doctor blurted out, totally surprised.
"They have doctors? And they dare to call themselves doctors?" another doctor scoffed, clearly doubting Korean medical standards.
"Sending such a young guy here, they clearly don't take us seriously!" a senior doctor fumed, feeling totally disrespected.
"Making us deal with this kid is an insult to senior doctors everywhere," another senior doctor grumbled, full of discontent.
The room buzzed with the murmurs of pissed-off senior doctors, their collective anger was obvious.
They couldn't believe that a young guy, barely out of his teens, had the nerve to compete with them, seasoned experts who had spent years in the medical field.
Facing the crowd's doubts and dissatisfaction, Vincent just smiled coldly and said, "Maybe today is the first time you've heard my name, but trust me, soon the entire medical community will know it."
He paused, looking at each doctor present, his tone full of challenge. "Because today, I'm going to beat every doctor here."
His words were met with a burst of laughter from the audience.
"My stomach hurts from laughing," an older doctor chuckled.
"Kid, you've got quite the ego. Do you think our medical community is something you can challenge? Let your senior Korean doctors come and compete with us," Benjamin sneered, his words dripping with contempt.
The doctors present also laughed coldly, feeling deeply insulted by the young man's arrogance.
"Mr. Woods, we have no intention of bullying Korean medicine. Please have your senior representative come forward," Adam said with a polite smile, though his tone carried undeniable authority.
Despite the arrogance of Korean medicine, Adam, as a doctor from a major country, wouldn't lower himself to argue with a young man.
"Have my grandfather come here?" Vincent laughed coldly, his tone full of disdain. "Do you even deserve it?"
"You..."
"Arrogant!"
Vincent's words were like a match to a powder keg, instantly igniting the anger of the senior doctors present.
"What, am I wrong?" Vincent sneered, looking at the angry faces. "You old geezers, with one foot in the grave, how dare to call yourselves the true medical authorities? What a joke."
He paused, his tone turning firm. "I am here on behalf of my grandfather, not to participate in your ridiculous medical exchange, but to demand that from now on, none of you claim to be the true medical authority. Korean medicine is the true authority!"
The room fell into a stunned silence.
All the senior doctors glared at Vincent like they wanted to rip him apart.
A bunch of Korean doctors trying to claim the title of true medical authority? This was beyond ridiculous!
"Mr. Woods, you're going too far," Adam said, his face darkening, a hint of anger in his voice.
"Too far?" Vincent sneered, his eyes full of contempt.
"Enough talk. I challenge you on behalf of Korean medicine. Do you dare to accept?" Vincent couldn't wait to crush these so-called senior doctors.
"Watch your tone! If that's the case, I have no choice but to teach you a lesson," Benjamin said coldly, stepping forward, his gaze locked on Vincent.
"What do you want to challenge?" Benjamin asked, his voice carrying a hint of pressure.
"Surgery. It's quick and the best test of a doctor's skill. How about it?" Vincent said nonchalantly, oozing confidence like he had already won.
"Fine," Benjamin agreed with a nod.
Adam quickly arranged for a patient for the surgical showdown between Vincent and Benjamin.
When the doctors saw Vincent's surgical technique, their expressions froze, like they had turned to stone.
"Magic Scalpel!"
"It's the Magic Scalpel! Like the brain death therapy, it's a long-lost surgical technique!"
"Brain death therapy is just one of the ancient shamanic surgical techniques, while Magic Scalpel is another mode of surgery. It's extremely difficult to learn and master."
"This is impossible! How could such a technique be in the hands of a Korean?"
Even Benjamin's face twitched, sweat beading on his forehead.
In just thirty minutes, Vincent had challenged and defeated dozens of senior doctors.
Without a doubt, these so-called senior doctors were powerless against the Magic Scalpel, all falling one by one.
Even Adam, the president of the Los Angeles Medical Association, admitted defeat in the face of the Magic Scalpel, his expression bitter.
As for Philip, his face was as pale as a sheet.
This young Korean doctor, Vincent, was unbelievably powerful.
"What, no more challenger?" Vincent put away his scalpel, a smug smile on his face as he looked around, his gaze full of provocation. "And you call yourselves the true medical authorities? What a joke."
His words left the senior doctors in the room looking ashen, like they had suffered a great blow.
This was an insult! A blatant mockery!
These doctors, each renowned in their own hospitals, each proud of their reputation and status, now couldn't lift their heads in front of a Korean doctor. If word got out, what would become of their standing in the medical community?
"You've got some nerve!" At that moment, a stern voice broke the suffocating silence from the entrance of the hall.
The legendary figure in the medical field, Robert, walked in with steady steps.
"It's Prof. Davis!"
"Prof. Davis is finally here!"
"With the ancient shamanic brain death therapy, he can definitely counter the Magic Scalpel!"
Seeing Robert, the doctors in the room seemed to see a glimmer of hope, their eyes lighting up with renewed determination.
Robert's gaze was sharp as he stared at Vincent, his voice steady. "There are many branches of medicine, not just ancient shamanic techniques. Do you think you can dominate the medical field with the Magic Scalpel alone? That's naive. The medical community still has shamanic therapies. Shouldn't we test those first?"
Facing Robert's challenge, Vincent showed no fear. Instead, he sneered, "So you're the one spreading the brain death therapy. Perfect, let's see today whose surgery is superior—your trash or my Magic Scalpel!"
"Outrageous!"
"Such arrogance!"
"Prof. Davis, you must show him his place!"
The experts present were visibly agitated, their faces flushed with anger. The room buzzed with murmurs of disapproval as they turned to Professor Davis, seeking his authoritative response to Vincent's audacious claims.
The competition between the ancient shamanic therapy and the Magic Scalpel involved two liver cancer patients.
The doctors of the Los Angeles Medical Association, their fists clenched and palms sweaty, watched the operating table intently as if a blink would make them miss a single detail in this battle for medical honor.
Meanwhile, Louis had left the medical association and checked into a hotel, ready to enjoy some rare downtime. His phone rang, displaying Philip's name.
"Hello, Mr. Mitchell, what's up?" Louis answered, a hint of resignation in his voice.
"Louis! It's a disaster! You need to come back immediately! That Korean doctor, Vincent, with his Magic Scalpel, has defeated us all! Even Prof. Davis... he failed too!" Philip's voice trembled with urgency.
"Vincent? Magic Scalpel?" Louis raised an eyebrow. The name sounded like a villain straight out of a novel. "What happened to Prof. Davis? Was he ambushed?"
"Never mind that! Just get back here! You're the only one who can save us! If you don't, the reputation of the Los Angeles Medical Association will be in ruins!" Philip was so anxious he nearly crushed his phone.
Louis hung up, his expression unchanged, as if he had just heard a mundane weather report rather than earth-shattering news. He leisurely took a shower, then pulled on a wrinkled T-shirt.
Back at the venue, the atmosphere was more eerie than a morgue.
Robert lay on a makeshift stretcher, his face as pale as a sheet of paper, with a ghastly wound on his chest.
The surrounding doctors were dejected.
Opposite them, Vincent stood with a smug expression, holding a uniquely shaped scalpel that glinted ominously.
"So this is the famous Los Angeles Medical Association? You couldn't even withstand one move from me!" Vincent's tone was full of mockery. "Who else dares to challenge me? I'll show you all today!"
"You're too arrogant!" A young doctor, trembling with anger, pointed at Vincent. "You won unfairly! You used witchcraft!"
"Witchcraft?" Vincent laughed as if he had heard the world's biggest joke. "In this age of 'science above all,' you still believe in witchcraft? You old fools, this is the 'Magic Scalpel,' a fusion of modern technology and traditional Korean medicine. It's the future of medicine! You narrow-minded fools just can't understand!"
"You..." The young doctor was too angry to speak, glaring daggers at Vincent.
"What? No one dares to step up? Then I'll take it as you all admitting defeat!" Vincent's smile grew more sinister. "In that case, admit that your medical skills are second to ours!"
At that moment, a lazy voice came from the back of the crowd, "Who said no one dares? I haven't spoken yet."
Everyone turned to see Louis, hands in his pockets, swaggering over like a delinquent. His wrinkled T-shirt made him stand out.
"Louis? You're back?" Adam looked at Louis as if seeing a savior, but then worry clouded his face. "Can you handle this? That guy is pretty formidable!"
"Yeah, Louis, don't push yourself. This guy's skills are too strange!" an old doctor advised. Though he barely knew Louis, they were all doctors from the same country. If Louis lost, it would be a huge disgrace.
"Strange? I'll see just how strange," Louis scoffed, walking straight up to Vincent. "I hear you're pretty arrogant? Want us to admit defeat?"
"You're Louis?" Vincent looked Louis up and down, his eyes full of disdain. "You look like a joke. How dou dare to challenge me? You should come back to your mom."
Louis shot back, "Your skills are nothing compared with mine. Even if your grandfather were here, he'd have to kneel and kowtow to me!"
"What... what did you say?!" Vincent was livid. No one had ever dared speak to him like that.
"I said, even your grandfather would have to kneel and kowtow to me!" Louis repeated, his tone full of authority. "Don't believe me? Try it!"
"Fine!" Vincent laughed in anger. "If you want to die, I'll oblige! But first, let's see if you're even worthy of my time!"
Vincent pointed to Robert lying on the ground. "Aren't you a miracle doctor? Heal him first. If you can't, you're not worthy of being my opponent!"
"Heal him? Piece of cake!" Louis said, pulling a colorful stone from his pocket. It looked like a cheap trinket, but in Louis's hand, it exuded a mysterious aura.
"Is that a healing stone?" Adam's eyes widened. "I thought those were lost! How does he have one?"
"Healing stone? What's that? Is it edible?" a young doctor asked, confused.
"You know nothing! This is a sacred object from ancient shamanic medicine, said to have incredible healing powers!" Adam explained excitedly. "But it's been lost for ages, and even if it existed, it requires immense energy to activate. How could he..."
As the crowd buzzed, Louis pressed the healing stone to Robert's wound.
A soft glow emanated from the stone, enveloping Robert's injury.
"He's stopped bleeding!" a sharp-eyed doctor exclaimed. "His wound... it's healing!"
"My God! Is this real? Am I dreaming?"
"Amazing! This is a medical miracle!"
Everyone was stunned by the scene. They had never seen such miraculous medical skills, more impressive than any sci-fi movie.
Vincent's expression finally changed.
He had thought Louis was a clown, not worth his time. But now, it seemed he had underestimated him.
"What... what kind of medicine is this?" Vincent's voice trembled. "Who... who are you?"
"You're not worthy of knowing!" Louis put away the healing stone, speaking calmly. "Now, it's your turn!"
"I..." Vincent's forehead beaded with sweat.
