Chapter 182 Don't You Want to Marry Her?
Not long after Charlotte had made decision, she received a message from Bonnie, whose words were filled with gratitude and excitement. She said she was already waiting at the hospital.
Charlotte couldn't help but look at the time, still six hours left until she got off work. Did Mrs. Lloyd intend to sit in the hospital for six hours?
Therefore she had to reschedule the test and take it at noon.
Jason personally drove her there. When he noticed that she looked tense, he comforted her calmly, "Relax. Just take it as a chance to be sure."
"Yeah." Although Charlotte was not completely relaxed, she was still much better than before getting into the car.
The huge signboard of Jaylor Hospital stood horizontally in front of the entrance. Charlotte had been there so many times. This was the only time she felt weird to be there, and she suddenly had the idea of running away.
It was like Jason could read minds. His gaze was gentle when he said, "It's not late when you wanna leave"
"No." Charlotte took a deep breath and walked in.
Bonnie stood up when she saw Charlotte. She walked a few steps and wanted to hold her hand but hesitantly stopped halfway, awkwardly greeting her.
Charlotte's mind was on the paternity test, so she just smiled reluctantly.
She thought it would be complicated, but the sampling process took less than a minute. Then, Dr. Zellweger left with the samples, leaving the three sitting alone in the office.
Finally, it was Bonnie who broke the silence. "I didn't expect you to agree to come for the paternity test."
Charlotte replied calmly, "Me either. You're gentle, Mrs. Lloyd. Since you want me to do it, it's not a big deal."
She rarely met gentle people like Bonnie.
Jason couldn't help but give a sideways glance at her.
Bonnie seemed to be stunned and said only after a long time, "Ms. Seinfield, I know that Stekka has been giving you a lot of trouble lately. She is not bad in nature, probably just jealous of you and Jason being close. Please don't take it to heart."
Regarding her apology, Charlotte was not surprised and smiled indifferently, "Don't worry, Mrs. Lloyd. I won't be subjected to anger for no reason, so Ms. Lloyd didn't give me a hard time."
The two chatted for a while. Unknowingly, two hours passed, and Dr. Zellweger came back with the test results.
Bonnie couldn't wait to receive it. Immediately, her teardrops rolled down. She was very excited.
Charlotte went over to read it. The results showed that she was a Lloyd family member.
Compared to Bonnie, who was being emotional, Charlotte appeared especially calm. She calmly put the results report back as if putting back an insignificant document.
"Mrs. Lloyd, now you have the answer you wanted." Charlotte said as she put her bag back on, "I hope this news can give you a little bit of comfort."
Bonnie froze and asked in shock, "Aren't you returning to the family with me?"
"Where? My home is here." Charlotte acted as if nothing had happened. She was calm when she said goodbye rather politely, "Then I'll go back to the office first."
Jason looked at Charlotte's back as she walked out in silence for a long time before he inclined his head and said to Bonnie, "She has her own ideas. Don't betoo disappointed."
Bonnie was shocked. She didn't expect Jason to say those words. She came to an understanding and said, "Jason, please help me persuade her. If she goes back to the Lloyd family, it will be good for you too, right?"
He looked interested and asked in disbelief, "What's in it for me?"
"Don't you want to marry her? But you're afraid that your grandpa won't agree to it. If she's the Lloyd family's heir, everything will be solved, won't it?" Bonnie said those shocking words with a flat face.
Jason's eyes grew sharp as he held back the urge to retort. Instead, he said, "You really don't consider Stella's thoughts at all, Mrs. Lloyd."
"I've never been able to read that girl's mind. Besides, you've made it clear that you won't marry her. It's meaningless to force it." Bonnie was unexpectedly quite open-minded.
Jason hid his thoughts and nodded gently. "I'll have the chauffeur send you back."
"No, thanks. Just help me persuade her more."
Charlotte waited in the car for a while before she saw Jason walking out slowly. She guessed that he and Bonnie had talked about something alone, but she couldn't bother to ask.
On the contrary, Jason jokingly took the initiative to say, "Aren't you curious about what Mrs. Lloyd told me?"
"Not curious at all. She must have told you to persuade me."
"Then let's not do it for now." Jason smiled and skipped it.
Just after they arrived at the company, Stella angrily came to question Charlotte, "Charlotte, aren't you disdainful of the status as the Lloyd family's daughter? Why couldn't you wait to do a paternity test? Do you want to get rid of me?"
Charlotte had a lot on her mind, so she didn't have the time to pay attention to Stella picking a fight. She just perfunctorily said, "I'm not getting rid of you, Ms. Lloyd. Please don't think too much about it."
"You're not? You secretly went back and investigated yourself, right? If I hadn't said it, you would have never known about this ever." Stella was bent on believing that Charlotte was taking advantage of her convenience and pestered for a statement.
Her unrelenting pestering bored Charlotte. Emotionless, she stared at Stella. Her tone was terribly calm. "Ms. Lloyd, I originally thought you were smart. Why are you so stupid now? If you want to marry Mr. Langley, you should follow him around more instead of fixing your eyes on me. Even if I leave my job, others will take my position. I won't be the only one who looks similar to you in this world, so may I ask what are you targeting me for?"
Stella was stunned in place by her series of questions.
Charlotte let out what was on her mind and said in a harsh voice, "If you need anything, please go directly to Mr. Langley. Otherwise, I'll take it as you deliberately making things difficult for me."
After she finished, she nodded at Jason. "Mr. Langley, I'll go up first to arrange the meeting later."
Jason didn't say a word the entire time and didn't stop her.
Watching Charlotte walk away, Stella quickly went to Jason to seek comfort. "Jason, I really didn't make things difficult for her. At the very beginning, I intended to help her find her true origin for her sake. I didn't expect her to slander me so much."
Jason withdrew his hand in silence. His face was calm but majestic. "If you really want her to return the family, then continue to make trouble."
What he said made Stella stop complaining about Charlotte. She still wanted to act pitifully. Jason was quite disappointed. "Stella, you've changed. You're not the kind girl you used to be."
When his mother was hospitalized and dying, he had the idea of committing suicide a few times. It was Stella who talked him out of that idea.
Stella felt greatly alert, anxiously trying to explain.
Jason had already turned around and headed inside, gloomily saying goodbye, "I still have official business to attend to. Don't bother me with anything that isn't necessary."
Upstairs, Charlotte was arranging the conference room when she heard the secretaries gossiping quietly. It was as if they were doing it deliberately so that Charlotte could hear it. "Mr. Langley seems to have quarreled with his childhood sweetheart. The two of them parted on bad terms just now."
