Chapter 50: Did he get into a fight?

Rosie's POV

I'm definitely not going to be the evil one, and I don't care about his love interest.

Immediately I got to my room, I locked the door and, in a sober whimper, I jumped on the bed and began to punch the pillow my hand could reach.

"Just pick one!"

"You're so greedy!"

"Do you think women are accessories you keep?" I screeched, tearing the pillow into shreds, and hollered.

"I don't want to be your toy! Don't you know you'd die early with so many women?"

"Speaking of which, they'd be rivals, those who'd betray you! And some will cheat...well you do that!"

I crashed into the bed, exhausted from hitting it all day, and then exhaled softly.

What am I even doing? Everyone's fine with it.

I placed my hands on my stomach, folded my lips, and then flicked my lashes at the plain ceiling.

My boys.

I want to see them, I want to know how they're faring and Damien won't be back early.

I want to believe it. Rather than drowning in the thought of someone, I rose up and made my way to the bathroom to wash up.

It seems the sunlight came out with a vengeance and everything screams to peel out my skin.

I sat at the bus stop, with a hoodie, sunglasses, and a large bag that could swallow a living thing.

Sneaking out of the palace wasn't really difficult, as everyone seemed more concerned about their personal needs than the actual protection of lives staying there.

Just a few bribes got me out of here. Damien deserves to fire those servants involved, because they took my money just to let me out.

My feet impatiently tapped the ground as I kept peeping to and fro to see if someone I knew would jump at me.

Damien.

He's good at finding things and he'd just creep out of the corners and wave at me, grinning like I'd never escape him.

However, he'd never know where I was. A safe smile left my lips as I envisioned the smile on my kids' lips if they saw me.

However, my thoughts got distracted when I perceived a familiar fragrance.

Curiously, I lifted my eyes only to see...him!

Damien.

He's coming out of a car, right opposite me. I was so confused, not knowing what to do, and it was as though my butt was glued to the bench.

He's all dressed in a suit, dark sunglasses, and a man who I haven't seen before holds a briefcase beside him.

He looks serious, like an undercover agent, but the only thing that makes him ridiculous is the lollipop in his mouth.

Seriously?

I shouldn't be staring. I should run!

Scurrying my eyes to and fro for a possible escape route, I suddenly found a book beside me.

It has been there, and a passerby must have forgotten it. This might be my saving grace until he walks past me.

Hastily, I grabbed it, flipped to a page and the first thing I saw was a picture of Damien and me.

He's everywhere!

I could suddenly feel his eyes on me and my heart thuds so fast as I buried my face in the book properly.

My hands quiver as his footsteps draw closer and the slurry sound he makes with the lollipop in his mouth makes me want to snatch it from his mouth.

It's not annoying, it's enticing and charming that I was smiling sheepishly not until I recall the letter he left behind for every woman under his castle.

Pulling a frown, I lowered the book to see if he was gone, only to realize he had sat beside me.

Legs crossed, hands steepled together and eyes on his wristwatch.

I almost screamed, but I used my book to cover my mouth, while quivering with panic.

Sweat slicks down my skin as I wasn't breathing.

"The book must be riveting," he whispered, and I shook, clearing my throat and adjusting my hoodie properly just so no part of my face would be revealed.

If I didn't answer him, he wouldn't leave me alone!

"Yes," I said in a different tone, husky, and I heard him smirk.

He suddenly takes the book from his hand and a cool breeze brushes past me. I dare not move my eyes, nor did my position change.

My hands were stiff in that position, as though an invisible book was on them, but then the book landed back in my hand.

It looks upright now and the picture of him and me kissing was the next thing my eyes were looking at.

"It's upside down, pretty" he teased, and his voice sounded muffled because of the lollipop, which he twirled with his tongue.

I only bowed calmly, in appreciation, and slowly rose up, just to leave, but then he said;

"What do you think? She's beautiful right?"

I scoffed. Did he speak to every lady he found on the street? Where was his composure? Anyone could belittle him and call him a disgrace because, despite the way he was dressed, he still talked with commanders.

I nodded, my butt stayed back on the bench.

"But beauty doesn't matter, does it?" He pressed, and I gnashed my teeth, my stomach twitched, and I was praying to the heavens that either one of us would leave.

I shook my head, suddenly acting like a deaf and dumb person.

"Do you live around here?" he asked, and this time around I could feel him so close that tingling flushes around my skin.

If he's asking that, it's probably because I didn't go crazy screaming and fainting because he's like a celebrity.

The sight of him is like staring at a god, but unfortunately, it's quite lonely today, as though no one exists except us.

I shook my head and the next thing he took the book again and closed it.

"Hey kid, you shouldn't be so engrossed in such books in public, what if a bad guy shows up and takes you away?..."

Do I look like a kid?

"Are you facing an issue? Scared?"

Leave me alone. I turned away, clenching my arms around my bag and trembling.

As he speaks, a bus suddenly stops and without hesitation, I shoot up from the bench and I scurry in like a criminal in hiding.

My head was low and the first empty seat I saw, I sat on, close to the window which faced the bench I sat on.

Damien was still there, and suddenly our eyes locked and a dirty smirk left his lips.

I noticed something... around his wrist cuff.

Blood.

A sudden gasp left me as I drew in a long breath, tensed.

I leaned closely to the window, to observe what I saw. The watch too, its screen was cracked and stained with blood too.

The man who stands by him suddenly whispers something in his ear and his gaze left me as he spat out the stick of the lollipop.

His lips, I could see a bruise and as I scanned him closely, the bus began to drive away and the only image I saw was a blur of him.

Did he get into a fight?
