Chapter 58 Chapter 0058
Chapter 58 Chapter 0058
•RAVEN•
I sat down on the chair across from Sebastian and didn't know what to say or do.
My mind was blank and I couldn't even think, not when I could smell his cologne and how it drove me crazy when he kissed me outside the backyard porch.
It felt so awkward being in the same room as him and not being able to talk with him as I used to before my incident.
Even when I tried to avoid eye contact with him, I still found myself looking at him, and feeling embarrassed that I had touched myself that morning while thinking about him.
He drove me crazy, and I didn't like the effect he had on me.
"Please excuse me for a moment," I murmured, getting up from my chair. I headed toward the door, desperate to be outside and breathe.
I was suffocating with him around me. I couldn't breathe without feeling even more confused about what happened.
I was still haunted by the time when Valerie took my life, which led me back to the very same place that broke me.
So, being in the same room as Sebastian wasn't easy either. It felt wrong that he could sit there and not know anything that happened between us, while I thought of him every minute of the day.
"Raven," Sebastian’s voice called behind me, and I froze on my steps.
My chest tightened and I looked down, wondering how I could turn around and look at him as if he hadn't been roaming freely in my thoughts, even when I didn't want him there.
"Mr. Krane." I turned around and looked at him. "My husband will come and talk with you about the contract. He and the head elder should be done speaking by now."
"Your husband is not the reason I am here," he answered, leaning closer. My breath caught in my throat and I swallowed when he stood an inch away from my face.
"I felt something yesterday when I touched you," he continued. "And I know you know what I am talking about. I have never felt something like that before. Do you have something to say about that?"
"Did you come here to interrogate the Luna of Blackwood pack?" I sneered. "You may be the prominent businessman in your state, but I am the Luna of this place. The guards here will do whatever I command them, so I wouldn't advise you to threaten me in my domain."
My heart raced, and my fists clenched on my sides. But he didn't flinch.
"Yes, you are the Luna, but this locket—" he murmured, reaching toward my necklace, but I stepped back before he could touch it.
The necklace was the only thing that I had that belonged to my mother. She had given it to me before the day she died.
After she told me about the story of Vesper, I found her awake in the middle of the night with the necklace in her hands.
She then gave it to me, and I never knew that it was our last moments together. And in the morning, she was gone.
"Don't you dare touch me," I snarled, my eyebrows knitting. "The Alpha will talk with you when he returns, but I won't be here."
I turned to leave when he stopped me right on my steps.
"The locket around your neck belonged to my family," he muttered. "It has an engraved date inside it, doesn't it? 985 BC."
My heart stopped.
My mother had never told me the story behind the locket, but it was the only thing that I had of her after being thrown out of the house at ten.
She never told me about the locket's origin, and I never asked any questions about it. I just remembered being happy to be trusted with her jewelry.
"How do you know?" I asked, turning and facing him.
"Because it was mine."
I stood there and looked at him. The whole thing he had said to me sounded like a joke.
"Well, as much as I would like to stand here and listen to your jokes, I don't have time for them." I turned around and before reaching the door, Sebastian was already standing before me
I frowned as I looked back at where we were standing and wondered how he had gotten to my side so fast. It was weird and I didn't want to be there and let him confuse me even more.
"I want to leave," I muttered. "The Alpha won't take it lightly if you keep me here against my wishes. And I am no longer interested in being here."
"The only reason that would explain the vision I had when I touched you was that you were wearing the same locket yesterday underneath the collar of your shirt."
"Step out of my way, Mr. Krane." I attempted to walk past him, but he kept blocking my path.
"You died and went back in time."
That statement froze me in my steps.
I couldn't even say anything because he was right. But before I could respond, the door swung open behind me.
Tristan and Elder Malrik walked in. They looked confused when they sensed the tension in the air, but Sebastian quickly came to the rescue.
"Oh, you're here," he chuckled softly. "The Luna was about to take me on a tour around the pack territory while waiting for your return."
"Oh, there's no need for that, Mr. Krane," Tristan answered as he closed the door behind them and led us toward the table. "Elder Malrik and I have come to our conclusion."
We sat down around the table, and I was facing Sebastian, wishing that I could get up and leave them behind, but I didn't want Tristan to be suspicious of anything.
"We will go ahead with the construction development," Tristan answered, sounding happy. "We will start..."
His voice drifted as my heart rate became loud in my ears. The locket suddenly burned on my skin, wondering about the cost of the locket bringing me back to life.
