Chapter 80: Swings 2 Nina POV
He kept talking to people and everything was going smoothly. A few entertaining events were held and he managed to get many on board with him in his quest against his uncle, Killian who was still trying to wreak havoc on his pack. That reminded me of Belloq and how we had not communicated for a while.
He was probably rotting away somewhere or making himself useful enough to destroy Kayden's pack.
Everyone was sitting and eating and drinking. It had turned into a feast and food was in surplus and available. I excused myself and went to the bathroom. I was feeling suffocated already and just had to let it out.
Inside, I washed my face thoroughly. I felt different a little bit, just a bit better than beforehand when it felt like life was wrinkling my life out and every joy in me.
Just then, Jessica came in too. There was no acknowledgement of my presence as she continued with herself and dressing herself. She was adjusting her make-up while I stood there staring at the mirror. Her whole new behaviour was more than shocking for me.
I wanted to speak and say something, but I didn't know where I would start.
"Can't you see me here or you don't remember what happened yesterday?" I confronted her. She kept on humming and didn't act like I had just said a thing to her.
"Jessica!" I screamed.
She looked at me and threw me a shocking glare.
"What do you want me to say to you?" She spoke back to me.
I looked at her and she simply walked out of the bathroom while hissing as she left. I couldn't believe it.
Someone who I had taken as a sister was behaving in the most rude way I couldn't have ever imagined.
On one part, I wanted to attack her, on the other, I was weak and tired.
I was too tired of trying to fight or make trouble. I just wanted to leave the event. I went back in and everyone was still merry, but a sight caught my attention. It was Jessica. She had walked to where Kayden sat and gave him a peck on his cheek. She definitely knew I would witness it and see them both.
I was irritated and ran towards her as she was about to sit, I threw her to the table knocking surprise into everyone's senses and their food away.
She didn't even hesitate and she began to fight back. I punched her face and tried squeezing her skull, but she dealt her blows which were stronger. Everyone had come in to separate us and all it took were two alphas who put us away.
"What is wrong with you two?" I could hear Kayden yell.
I felt insulted and ran out. I went to the car where the driver had been situated all through the event.
"Please, take me back to the house." I pleaded.
"Immediately, ma'am!" He saluted and went to the driver's seat to start the car.
I was proud of my autonomy over the servants too. That came in handy. Tears welled up in my eyes and they were dripping already. Everything that had happened the past few days kept replaying and I was saddened.
I began crying uncontrollably. I could see the driver Stare at me momentarily from the mirror but I could only care less.
I was disappointed at how I had been treated by Kayden and Jessica. I felt heavily betrayed. I began to wail and when the driver couldn't take it anymore, he stopped the car to get me down so he could calm me.
When he came to the seat where I was, I shoved him aside and ran out to throw up. My bad mood had ruined everything for me including the little I had managed to eat at the ball. Thankfully, he brought me water so I could clean myself up.
I was weak and tired and chose to sit beside the car tyres. My head rested on the car itself.
"Ma'am, wouldn't you like to go back into the car? The pack house is only a stone's throw from here." He said to me.
I heard him, but I chose to ignore I had bigger problems bothering me and they were things of the heart. I still thought about the conversations and how I had been suspicious about the times they barely spoke to each other not knowing this was everything would eventually pan out.
I sobbed for a while and when the driver saw he couldn't stop me, he only stood beside me to keep guard. I was pathetic, but there was nothing I could have done about myself. I felt weak and helpless. Every bad mood rushed into me and different memories began to contribute to how much I was crying.
I began to remember my parents, the pack they had destroyed and how everything was before they eventually got worse. I was sobbing uncontrollably.
