Chapter 26: Got you

ANONYMOUS POINT OF VIEW
"I have a feeling it’s going to be quite challenging for her to agree to our proposal," Silas stated, his voice low and laced with concern. "You heard what our informant reported. She seems like she’s not the type to yield easily." His brows knitted together in a frown that suggested he was worried about the entire situation.
I immediately took issue with his grim outlook, rolling my eyes with exasperation. "Oh, come on, Silas! The spy merely mentioned that she has a strong demeanor. It doesn’t necessarily mean she will turn us down flat.
"Once she understands the extent of the compensation I’m prepared to offer her, I’m certain she will enthusiastically agree to help us. Just imagine the look on her face when the proposal is laid out—it’s going to be a sight to behold!" A sly, almost mischievous grin crept across my face, and for a moment, I allowed myself to revel in the possibilities of how this could play out.
Silas, ever the pragmatist, pressed on, his eyes narrowing slightly as he regarded me with scrutiny.
"What else did the inside informant say?" His curiosity was piqued, and I could tell he was preparing for the next phase of our plan.
"He reported that he overheard her making arrangements on the phone, mentioning something about going to a friend’s house to pick up her belongings," Silas responded, his brow still furrowed in thought, his mind racing through the implications.
At that moment, an excited smile broke across my face as I processed this newfound information.
"What’s our next move then?" Silas asked, leaning in closer, his eyes fixed intently upon me as if he were awaiting a grand revelation.
"Today, we pay her a visit—no more dilly-dallying," I declared, determination welling up inside me.
"We’ll make it clear to her that it’s in her best interest to comply with our request. There’s no option here; she’ll either agree willingly or we will ensure that she has no choice but to follow through, one way or another"
"We need to gather as much information as we can—find out everything there is to know about her: her family background, her close friends, any accomplices she might be harboring. Every single detail is crucial, and we’ll leave no stone unturned in our quest for information!"I said and he smirked immediately .
“Is it what I think you're going to do?” he inquired, his voice tinged with uncertainty. I simply nodded in response, affirming his suspicion.
“If she outright refuses to comply with my requests, I can’t help but wonder if she will also turn down my demands when I introduce a more personal element—like using her family or friends as bait against her... She will ultimately have no choice but to comply, whether she likes it or not,” I declared, my resolve hardening as I stood up, determination coursing through me.
“It’s getting close to evening,” I added, glancing at the fading sunlight streaming through the windows. “I need to dedicate a few minutes to rest and refresh my mind before we make our move,” I said, a sly grin creeping across my face as I began to ascend the staircase.
“Make sure you're ready before 4:30, Silas... We can’t afford to miss the opportunity to meet her again,” I called back, and I could hear him respond with an enthusiastic ‘yes sir’ before he disappeared down the hall.
“I can’t allow myself to waste any more precious time... I’ve procrastinated long enough on this matter, and it’s high time that I take action. I had to fly down here in a hurry to my penthouse just to orchestrate this plan... The sooner I eliminate Donovan from the equation, the better it will be for me,” I mused to myself, the weight of my thoughts pressing heavily on my mind. With a firm grip on the doorknob, I swung the door open and stepped into my room.
I plopped down onto the bed, releasing a long, weary sigh that echoed through the quiet space. I was just about to lay back, ready to succumb to the pull of exhaustion, when my eyes caught sight of a picture hanging on the wall. The image brought back a flood of memories, each one layered with emotions that twisted my stomach into knots. It was a snapshot of a happier time, a moment that seemed worlds away from my current circumstances.
Why on earth did I let that linger for so long? Just looking at that face, the anger within me swells, making the urge to erase him from existence even stronger. I couldn't contain the turmoil inside any longer—I shot up from my seat, an eruption of frustration driving me toward the picture that hung so obnoxiously on the wall.
There he was, grinning from ear to ear, a smug smile plastered across his face that seemed to mock me. As memories surged back like a relentless tide, I felt a wave of rage crash over me, and without a second thought, I smashed the picture frame to the ground.
"You shouldn't even think of smiling, you bastard!" I screamed at the portrait lying shattered on the floor, as if Donovan himself was staring back at me with that infuriating grin. I felt a surge of adrenaline, and in my anger, I began to stomp on the remnants of the frame, not caring one bit about the sharp edges of glass that could easily cut into my skin. That smile—how could it still irritate me so?
It festered deep inside me, gnawing away at my sanity. Just when I was about to bring my foot down with even more force, my phone suddenly erupted with the sound of ringing, jolting me out of my violent haze. I dropped my foot abruptly in a mix of frustration and curiosity.
Making my way to the small table where my phone sat, I picked it up, only to see her name flashing across the screen. Instantly, a wave of warmth washed over me, and I couldn’t help but smile.
“Hey, baby,” she said, her voice dripping with that endearing childishness that never failed to bring a smile to my face. I couldn't help but chuckle at the sound of her voice, the tension of the moment slowly dissipating.
“I’ve been eagerly waiting for your call... I’m really glad you reached out. I’ve missed you so much,” I confessed, hearing a light laugh echo back on the other end of the line.
“I missed you more, Boo,” she replied, but I noticed a slight quiver in her tone, a hint of something underlying her words that piqued my interest. It tugged at my heartstrings, breaking the spell of my previous anger as I wondered what was troubling her.
"Is something the matter with you? Your voice sounds different... Did you cry?” I inquired, concern lacing my tone as I looked deep into her eyes, searching for answers.
"Yes... I had to shed tears to make Mom believe just how desperate I am to marry that despicable man," she replied, her voice tinged with annoyance. I felt a frown carve its way onto my face, instinctively responding to her distress.
"I really hate it when you cry; it just makes everything feel worse," I admitted softly, exhaling a resigned sigh as I tried to absorb her turmoil.
"I had no other choice, Boo," she continued, her frustration boiling just beneath the surface.
"But it didn’t work out the way I had hoped. In fact, we’re going to need a Plan B right away because his parents have sworn up and down that this marriage will not happen. They are just infuriating, much like their son! I can’t believe they would jeopardize everything I’ve been planning!" Her voice was laced with anger, and I could see the hurt etched on her face.
"Don't you worry, sweetheart. You don’t have to let this burden weigh you down any longer,” I reassured her, my heart aching for her situation. "In fact, I was going to tell you that I have already devised a Plan B. And… guess what?"
"You know I’m terrible at guessing, so just spill the beans, Boo," she said, a hint of petulance creeping into her tone, her lips curving into a slight pout.
“I’m currently in America,” I declared with a grin, and for a moment, silence enveloped us. Then, like a dam bursting, she erupted into a joyous scream, her previous worries momentarily forgotten as pure excitement flooded her voice.
"You can't be serious, Boo," she said, her voice tinged with disbelief, but I couldn't help but smile at her reaction.
"Of course, I mean every word, baby," I replied, my tone steady.
"I have to move forward with my plans, and it starts today with his doctor." The moment those words left my mouth, I heard her hiss sharply, a sound filled with irritation and distaste.
"That wtch... Please tell me you plan to eliminate her ," she implored, urgency crackling in her voice. I couldn't contain a light chuckle at her fervor.
“Why do you sound so unhappy hearing about her?” I raised an eyebrow, feigning innocence at her reaction.
“Oh, you won’t believe the lengths that vile vtch has gone to hurt me, Boo... She's inflicted so much pain. Please, I need you to promise me that you’ll make her pay " she exclaimed, her frustration clearly bubbling beneath the surface.
"I promise, baby... if she doesn't comply with what I have in mind,......I'll end her like the lady doctor" I assured her, hearing her let out a heavy sigh, a mixture of relief and anticipation.
"I can't wait to read her obituary," she declared, her voice rife with a determined energy.
"I mean it—it's something I’m genuinely looking forward to." Her repetition underscored just how eager she was for this inevitable outcome to unfold.
"Well, you really don’t have to worry too much about it. I’ve got everything under control," I said calmly.
"What I need most right now is you. When are we going to meet again, baby? I miss you so much—actually, we both miss you," I confessed, my heart aching slightly at the distance between us.
"Bad boy, I missed you two too and let's meet tomorrow, I can't wait to have you inside of me again"She said and I smiled.
"You've always been naughty..... Well, see you tomorrow my love.... I gotta go"I said with a smile and hung up, I glanced back at the wall clock and let out a grin.
"Soon"I whispered and fell on the bed.

KIMBERLY'S POINT OF VIEW
"Why are you dressed up?"Donovan asked confusingly the moment I walked into his room.
"Good evening, Donovan"I greeted instead, Avoiding his question.
"Yeah, evening.....where are you going to??"He asked.
"To a friend's place"I said and he frowned deeply immediately.
"A male or a female??"He asked staring at me from my head to my toes and I scoffed immediately.
"That's not important, Novan"I said and he huffed immediately.
"It's important to me, Amica Mea...... You're all dolled up.... Looking so damn beautiful and you say it's not important??. Are...... Are you going to see your...... Boyfriend"He said sounding hurt.
"No, Novan..... I broke up with the bastard..... I'm actually going to get my things from him......I'll be back before you know it....... I just want to get my things"I repeated with a sigh and he smiled widely immediately.
"You..... You broke up with him?"Hw asked with a smile.
"Yes, Donovan..... I won't take long"I said and he nodded.
"Ok...... Tell Scott to drive you there or he should tell Oscar to.... I wouldn't want you taking a cab"He said and I immediately shook my head.
"I don't think that's necessary, A cab will be the best option. I don't want to stress nobody"i said but he shook his head.
"I insist Amica Mea, Or better still..... Take a car there..Tell Scott to walk you to the garage and you can pick any car that you want....... It's not too safe to take a cab these days"He said and I smiled lightly.
"Fine then, I'll take a car there....I can drive and I don't really want to stress Scott.....Thank you"I said and he smiled.
"Anything for you, Amica Mea.......Please don't take long, He muttered and I nodded before walking out of the room,phew.....that was so unexpected and.......sweet,I thought and smiled widely.
"Urmmm..... Scott??"I called the second I walked out.
"Yes, Doctor Kimberly "Scott replied and bowed a little.
"Novan said that you should escort me downstairs and let me pick a car... ...... I want to go out and please I don't want anything too much ......just a simple ride will do"I said and he nodded and immediately began walking away, while I followed.
We walked past Sophie and her home tutor and I just waved at Sophie avoiding his creepy stares.
I walked out and choose one of the cars that wasn't screaming too much money and drove off immediately...... Nathan texted me minutes ago that he wants to travel out and I should be fast .....it's a good thing that I can drive,I thought with a smile speeding up.
#24 MINUTES LATER#
I sighed and came down from the car, I really would have left all those things with Nathan but that silver watch..... Dad had given it to me for my twentieth birthday and I can't lose it.
I walked to his door and knocked but didn't get a response, Didn't he just text me... Why the hell isn't he responding or has he left??,I thought and raised my hands to knock again but the door opened immediately revealing Nathan who immediately let out a smile the moment he saw me. That face that used to make my heart beat faster and leave me breathless, right now just make me cringe irritatedly.
" Where are they?, Give them to me now"I said and stretched out my hand with a frown.
"Chill, Baby..... Not so fast, at least come in and take a little rest..... You just drove here"He said and I frowned immediately.
"Don't you fking call me baby because I'm not your baby..... I don't have no time for rest so kindly go back in and get me my things"I said angrily.
"Geez fine, I'll go get them"He said and walked back in leaving the door open. I sighed and crossed my hands waiting patiently for him when I all of a sudden heard him scream and I immediately rushed into the house without thinking twice.
I couldn't find him in the sitting room that I had heard him scream from and as I was about to turn around..... I felt someone grabbed me from behind....... and placed his hands on my mouth making it impossible for me to scream.
"Got you"I heard Nathan say and he immediately carried me and began walking upstairs while all I could do was wiggle and cry in muffled breath.
