Chapter 24: (Part 1)-2
"Okay." Bored and disappointed, I entered her room without asking for permission. Sertia looked at me while Nathan was staring at Sertia as if he was scrutinising her. "Oh, hello Harry," greeted Sertia, smiling. Her slightly chubby cheeks were peach in colour. She was wearing a long, plain, light green dress that reached till her mid-calf. Her straight brown, shoulder-length hair was tied in a pony tail. She was a few inches shorter than Nathan. I saw her left hand, and saw her convolutedly beautiful engagement ring on her slender ring finger. "...Hi," I said hurriedly in a low, dull monotone. "What happened?" she asked, walking closer to me. Her green eyes were bright. "Oh... I just planned to get married to Nate here, but, of course, he declined my humble offer," I grumbled. I saw Nathan and he was ignoring me. I then saw Sertia, and she looked slightly amused by my response. "You're very bizarre, Harry," she commented, smiling. I shrugged, not bothered to care about what she said. Sertia Anne Albany and I were not very close. We were simply acquaintances. She was very shy and modest. When I met her for the first time, she was so quiet that talking to her seemed pointless. It took her about one whole month to warm up slightly to my eccentricity and queer habits. "Well, I'm bizarre and proud," I stated, crossing my arms. "Um... Okay?" said Sertia nervously. I realised immediately that Sertia was thinking that I was offended by her comment. "No, you're getting the wrong idea. I wasn't offended or anything—" I tried to say but, suddenly, Nathan stepped into our conversation. "Harry, leave us," he ordered as if I was his servant. I raised my eyebrows. "What am I to you? A slave?" I retorted. "Leave now, Harry," said Nathan sternly. My shoulders slumped and I sighed. "Fine," I complied, leaving the room by using vampire speed. My claim had been substantiated; Nathan forgot his best pal; me. He forgot our awesome friendship, all because of Sertia, his puny, little mate. *** It was three in the afternoon when all of the servants and the other workers were hurrying down the corridors and ensuring everything was in decorum. At that moment, I was inside Nathan's room, sprawled on his black bed. Nathan was standing in front of the mirror, getting ready for the Engagement Ball. Mason was sitting on the chair, reading a book. Mason was Olivia's brother. Olivia Elizabeth Baron was Nathan's fiancée. During his relationship with Olivia, Nathan befriended Mason Antonio Baron. When Nathan's engagement with Olivia broke off suddenly since he found his soul mate, Sertia, Olivia became psycho since she was obsessed with Nathan and wanted nothing more than to become his wife. Despite this, Nathan and Mason were still very good friends. Mason was very reserved; the type to keep his opinions to himself. He was always emotionless, and his pale complexion and black hair and eyes complemented his mysterious and daunting appearance. "Oh sweet justice! Where have you disappeared to?" I mumbled. "My dear cousin has forgotten me!" "Cry anymore then your dear cousin will absolutely ignore your presence," commented Mason, still reading his book, emotionless. Mason and I were antithesis; I was known to be the jolly Santa Claus while he was known to be the indifferent Dracula. "Well, I suppose that is true." Then I looked at Nathan. "Hey Nathan, can't you at least reconsider?" I asked, hopeful. "Harry! Shut up!" yelled Nathan. I sat up immediately. Nathan was in a terrible mood. "What happened to you? Just a minute ago you looked like a proud mother, so what happened now?" I asked, curious. Nathan sighed, sitting on the chair that was placed against the grey walls. He was silent. "Nate?" I called, waiting for his response. "I can't get rid of you, can I?" commented Nathan, tying the laces of his polished, black shoes. "Nope you can't," I admitted. "Honestly, you're like a fly that can't ever leave me alone," compared Nathan. I laughed like a maniac. "I appreciate the analogy," I stated. "So, what happened?" He sighed. "Sertia..." "Yes, what about her?" I pressed. "She... She's hiding something from me," he said honestly. "So...?" "So we had a little quarrel," explained Nathan. I rolled my eyes. "If it's a little quarrel, then don't take it seriously. Come on, it's your big day. There shouldn't be any fights or any sort of gloom and doom," I said. "Honestly, I agree with Harry. You and Sertia fight over such diminutive matters. I believe you should apologise and reconcile with her immediately," suggested Mason. "Yes. You're right, Mason. But... I feel terrible that she is suffering from something that I don't know about. That's why we fought." "You mean you fought with her," I corrected. "Sertia can't even fight with a fly, so let alone injure it," I emphasised her pacifism. Nathan gave a deep breath. Then, I started to play the serious card. "Nate, take things slow with her. It has been barely half a year since both of you have known each other. Give her some time to adjust to this new life and you have to guide her. Maybe she doesn't want to trouble you with such trivial matters. When she's ready, she'll tell you," I said. "Yes... I hate to admit it, but you're right, Harry," he said. I nodded. "Yes. I'm always right, aren't I?" I grinned in victory. "Quite rarely," commented Mason, still reading his book silently. "Hey!" I retorted, eyeing Mason in disapproval. "What I speak is the absolute truth," defended Mason. I rolled my eyes. "Whatever," I mumbled. Then I looked at Nathan, who was still looking down. "Oi Nate! Put that frown upside down!" I ordered. Nathan smiled. "Happy?" he asked in an annoyed tone. I nodded vigorously. "I'm over the moon for you, baby!" I squealed. "Harry, calm down," said Nathan, raising his eyebrows. I let my shoulders drop. "I swear, since you've gone all lovestruck, you've started to become tedious!" I whined. "I must agree with Harry once again," supported Mason. "See? Even Mason here notices it. If I knew that having a soul mate could change a whole person, I would've made you oblivious of the whole world! That way, you would have been my good old Nate right now," I said. Nathan was shooting daggers at me.
